Adventure of a lifetime in Africa! Climbing kilimanjaro + safari

This is the holiday for people that want to properly challenge themselves while having an outstanding cultural experience in beautiful landscapes. The climb was the toughest thing i've ever done, but also the best. We went as a work group and the bonding was fantastic, I will never again view my colleagues in quite the same light.... The local guides and porters were awesome, going out of their way to get people to the top. The feeling of achievement when you're coming down from the mountain is just unparalleled, and on top of that we had so much fun getting up there! The subsequent safari felt like the perfect reward: pure luxerious relaxation in amazing lodges while you see every single animal you could dream of up close (we had a lion cub who spent half an hour trying to crawl under our jeep for shade!).

KE provided excellent value for money. They clearly had a well-functioning and experienced operation in tanzania and i hugely support their use of local guides exclusively (rather than flying in a western head guide). Their backoffice was generally helpful and replied promptly to all queries.

From the Pacific to the Caribbea by Vixen1968, 3 Mar 2015

Best holiday ever!

I went on the "From the Pacific to the Caribbean" tour. It was amazing! We did multiple activities such as snorkelling, surfing, volcano sledging, zip lining, and hiking! So much to do! It was also an educational, cultural and scenic trip. This trip has everything packed in just 14 days without giving one a rushed feeling. Instead of constantly moving every night, we were able to stay for a couple of nights to get a feel for the area we ...

Edge of the Sahara Trek by Rogere, 17 Feb 2015
Holiday Rating:

Outstanding walking on the edge of the Sahara

I particularly enjoyed Walking just after sunrise. Impromptu music from the camel crew. Walking along the crest of the larger dunes. Despite the different conditions, reminded me of alpine ridges. Interesting people in group [which I know you have no control over].

Mount Toubkal in Winter by bkm_scot, 11 Feb 2015

Summiting Mount Toubkal 5/2/15

A trip to Morocco's Atlas Mountains to climb Mount Toubkal, North Africa's highest mountain in winter. AT 4167m there was plenty of snow (and wind) about. One day in Marrakech, travel to Imlil to acclimatise to altitude, then up to Neltner Hut at 3207m for more acclimatisation walks, before tackling the summit. Then back to Marrakech before flying home. A great itinerary, with time to experience the bustle of Marrakech and the Berbier way ...

Excellent organisation, unbelievable food, great guides who really knew the area and conditions. And to be on the top on my 60th birthday just made it unforgettable. They even baked a cake for me back at the refuge for our return from the top. Couldn't fault KE in any way, highly recommend them. Never used them before but definitely will in the future.

Kilimanjaro Lemosho Route by Merryman, 7 Feb 2015
Holiday Rating:

An exhilarating experience getting to the summit of Kilimanjaro on the Lemosho Route with KE

We had a really fun trip from the rainforest at Londorossi to the snows of the peak. The scenery was unbelievable, the food was great, the hiking enjoyable and the final climb exhilarating. The trek leader, Elias, was perceptive, responsive and experienced. He had a great rapport with the crew, who were themselves fun and hard working. Camps were well sited and supplied. Overall a great experience.

Grand Traverse of the Jura Mountains was all I could have hoped for. Our ski guide's extensive knowledge of the area meant that every day was different with a great selection of accommodation, food and experiences along the way. Ideal for experienced cross country skiers and those less so as our ski guide patiently gave tips to improve technique and cover those miles. A great sense of achievement at the end of the week, 90 miles down! Congrat...

An active, exciting and varied holiday in central and Pacific Costa Rica with the most amazing access to local knowledge and wildlife in each area we visited. Both KE and their local agents in Costa Rica ran a smooth and friendly adventure traveling machine. We may have struck gold with our overall guide, Joe Berlini, but he combined knowledge, charm, enthusiasm, kindness and positive energy in bucketfuls. I'd go back tomorrow if I didn't have to earn a living as well!

Guatemala Bike - Route of the Co by tptptp, 5 Jan 2015
Holiday Rating:

Great way to visit Guatemala, although with much less off-road riding than advertised and large/slow groups can be a problem

Highlights are Antigua, Todos Santos, the descent to lake Attilan, and riding cross-country on dirt tracks at 3000m+. Guatemala is a great place to visit by bike. Downsides were that most people got food poisoning, some people struggled with the riding which slowed things down a lot, and off-road riding isn't as advertised.

KE Adventure Travel responded to this review on 11 Feb 2015:

Hi Tim, we agree this is a great way to visit Guatemala, but we were alarmed to learn about the illness on your trip. As we have run this holiday very successfully for over 10 years with no previous incident, we were very keen to carry out a full investigation. As you know from our private correspondence with you and other members of the group, we now have a detailed report from your trip leaders. Although it appears this was a 'travellers tummy' bug passed between group members, rather than a case of food poisoning, we have never-the-less asked our agent in Guatemala to carry out an audit of all the places we eat on the holiday to ensure they meet our hygiene standards. We are sorry if this tummy bug led to some people struggling and opting for less off road riding.
