Scotland coast to coast - mountain bike
Wilderness Scotland made what could have been a punishing and unforgiving challenge into a highly memorable experience. The balance between active support and encouragement on the one hand and the scale of the challenge for each of us on the other was correctly assessed by our guide on Day 1. The balance between active support and encouragement on the one hand and the scale of the challenge for each of us on the other was correctly assessed by our guide on Day 1. As a result we had just the right level of stretch during the day. There was plenty of good hearty food; warm and friendly accommodation during the evenings; and excellent breakfasts. The care and attention our bikes got was also excellent (checked fully every evening) and much appreciated.
Rating for tour operator:All support and sales staff have been on the trips they are advising on, so they have real insight and knowledge and can be trusted to tell it like it is.
Beautiful countryside and good companions made the WHW an unforgettable experience
My daughter and I hiked the 95 miles of the WHW, our second major trek after having taken the Shivapuri trail in Nepal a few years ago. While the Scottish highlands aren't the Himalayas, the scenery was beautiful and the hike was challenging. We stayed at BnB's along the way and had an excellent experience throughout.

Sea Kayaking trip by Wilderness Scotland 18 July 2015
My first ever activities holiday and it was great. The group was one great family and the guides personable, helpful and knowledgeable. My first ever activities holiday and it was great. The group was one great family and the guides personable, helpful and knowledgeable. Wilderness Scotland guides were extra helpful and patient in explaining things to me through demonstration and simple English (as I don't speak much English). The locations were varied and beautiful and I discovered that you can have as much fun in the rain as under the sun. I'm from Egypt and people there usually stay at home when it rains and so the idea of being out on a lake or by the sea when it rains, paddling a kayak seemed crazy at first. I really loved the trip and would like to do another one!
Rating for tour operator:We had all the information we needed and Wilderness Scotland made sure there was someone we could contact for more information when we needed it. Everyone was very friendly, professional and helpful. Thanks!
Great Wilderness Scotland Sea Kayaking Trip off Loch Torridon, Western Scotland (Highlands)
The trip exceeded my expectations. Firstly, our guides, Zoe and Malcolm, were friendly and approachable. The weather was changeable but we always had a stunning location set at the right challenge level for our sea kayaking trips. Getting to know the others on the trip and working together to get the kayaks to the water and then out again and back on the kayak trailer was an unexpected bonus. The weather was changeable but we always had a stunning location set at the right challenge level for our sea kayaking trips. Getting to know the others on the trip and working together to get the kayaks to the water and then out again and back on the kayak trailer was an unexpected bonus. Another highlight was dining in the evening in small local restaurants, including a highland lodge and an isolated restaurant run by a charming Dutch chef. I enjoyed the kayaking to the full and maintained my confidence despite capsizing in the cold loch waters, thanks to the expertise and encouragement of Zoe, our head guide. Overall, we experienced, stunning scenery and a really enjoyable trip with challenge, fun and time to unwind and enjoy local culinary pleasures.
Rating for tour operator:I booked online and some tour operators turn out faceless and the experience then depends on the guide. With Wilderness Scotland, as soon as our booking was made we received a personalised email confirming things and soon after we received a detailed information pack to help us better prepare for the trip. We always had someone (with a name) to email or call if need be. I did in fact have to call and the agent who answered was both friendly and helpful. The personal but sincere touch provided each step of the way was most appreciated. Another plus is the Wilderness Scotland website provided great detail about the trip and supplementary videos on youtube to get a feel for what a trip can be like in different weather.
Professional with a caring,human touch!
First class, professional guide who had an impressive depth and breadth of knowledge and great people skills which meant we were able to get the most from our trip. This was much more than a walking trip - it was a social, cultural and educational experience !

Mountian Passes - Scotland - bicycle tou
The Scottish Highlands are 5000 shades of green coming into focus around each bend with patches of sheep and the occasional cottage and village to enrich your ride. The guides provide the thistle with just enough points to get you motivated and direct you to a rewarding experience. They knew the land and history which added another layer as you enjoyed the tour. Rating for tour operator:Web site was well-designed and user-friendly. A great shout-out to Kirsty who handled my reservation. I have booked adventure trips before overseas, and I can only measure quality through the website and prompt replies to inquiries (although somewhere I must have read a review of Wilderness Scotland because I had the reference in my travel file). Kirsty was patient, knowledgeable and prompt. I called her once or twice and the same professionalism was displayed on the phone. The guides were superb.
The joys of a wild, unspoiled area of Scotland
Thanks to the guide's professionalism and careful planning the group enjoyed a wide variety of experiences, from walking on remote mountains, on the good weather days, thus giving us excellent views, to exploring beautiful coastal areas and sites of geological and historical interest. Thanks to the guide's professionalism and careful planning the group enjoyed a wide variety of experiences, from walking on remote mountains, on the good weather days, thus giving us excellent views, to exploring beautiful coastal areas and sites of geological and historical interest. The guide's knowledge of the geology, flora and fauna and his ability to explain and inform the group added to the experience. In addition, the guide was very observant and quick to spot interesting wildlife, which ensured we had the thrill of an excellent viewing of two Golden Eagles circling the skies together and on another day two young otters, fishing and playing together.
Rating for tour operator:Wilderness Scotland is an excellent small company which operates in wild unspoiled areas of Scotland. Their philosophy of "minimum impact" is very much in keeping with this.

Wilderness hiking in the Orkneys
Wilderness Scotland organized a hiking tour and it was fantastic. From my very first inquiry to the trip itself, everyone was helpful and friendly. The guide, Tim, was wonderful. He found out what we were all interested in and tried to tailor the trip to our preferences. He was so knowledgeable on Scottish history, archaeology and wildlife and native plant life. The hotel in Kirkwall was gorgeous and this was an amazing trip. I would recommend ...
