Incredible trip of a lifetime!

Cliff walks around Shetland and Orkney Islands, visiting neolithic and Norse settlements, burial chambers, ruins, and spectacular views of nesting sea birds. Great accomodations and food. Knowledgeable, professional and friendly guide. A perfect trip!1

Don’t book a group

The hike took us along many busy narrow roads with traffic which is not the hike i imagined seeing the wilds of Scotland. We had a group of 11 and the accommodation each night was ridiculously unfair in terms of allocation, with the same members receiving very elegant and superior accommodation while the same 4 were allocated less than average to poor accommodation each night..despite all paying EXACTLY the same amount for the EXPERIENCE! This caused feelings of conflict when it was not the fault of any participants in the group~!

Tour was self guided, but contact and booking contact was Emily schaschke and despite my contacting her prior to the hike re my concerns, I was basically told nothing would be changed. I was hoping it wouldn’t be as much a problem as i had. Thought.. it was worse!!

Wilderness Scotland responded to this review on 24 Jul 2024:

Thank you for sharing your feedback about your recent self-guided tour of the Rob Roy Way. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience you and your group of 11 experienced.
We understand your concerns about the varying standards of accommodation. The Rob Roy Way passes through some of Scotland’s most remote areas, where availability is limited, and it is not always possible to offer the same standard to all travellers. We strive to provide the best options but regret that we fell short in this instance. We apologise for not managing the allocation of rooms more equitably. Your feedback will help us improve our processes to ensure fairer distribution in the future.
We also acknowledge the increased traffic on some roads and its impact on your experience.

Wilderness Scotland responded to this review on 24 Jul 2024:

We hope our direct phone and email conversations have addressed your concerns and reached a satisfactory resolution.
Your feedback is invaluable, and we are committed to making the necessary adjustments. We hope you will consider exploring more of Scotland with us in the future, where we will strive to provide a more consistent experience.

Wonderful walk on the West Highland Way

A terrific walk the length of the WHW, well supported by Wilderness Scotland. Well staged, beautiful progress, fun and adventure all the way along.

Inner Hebrides Island Tour

Great tour from organization, itinerary, guide, accommodations and wild life. Weather was a challenge cold, rain and windy but it added to the experience in some ways. Tour was exactly as described and the guide added more to highlight some local history, locations and culture.

West Highland Way - an excellent adventure

We had Wilderness Scotland arrange our West Highland Way adventure - setting our own agenda they were tasked with booking our accommodation and arranging the bag forwarding service. All locations were excellent and the overall package price was affordable. We were free to carry just our day packs and enjoy the fabulous Scottish highlands for 8 days &160km walking.

Wilderness Scotland were amazing. We first booked just prior to COVID from Australia and border shutdowns meant we had a 1 year hiatus, then we rebooked to find that our borders were closed again, rebooked but again thwarted due to a family emergency and ultimately managing the estate. Fourth time lucky and the team were with us every step of the way, reassuring us that our funds were held in trust and would be available when we were finally able to do the walk.

Widerness Scotland took care of everything. They answered all my questions at the front end and provided everything they promised - including a great guide, nice accommodations and good food. I guess they could have made it rain less but since they warned us what to expect we all had good rain gear and enjoyed it all.

Wilderness Scotland - Isle of Skye and the Outer Hebrides

We had a fantastic, worry-free trip to the Isle of Skye and the Outer Hebrides thanks to Wilderness Scotland and our wonderful guide, Joe. The hiking, scenery and wildlife were all fantastic. We saw a whale, dolphins, seals and otters as well as many different birds. It felt like the trip of a lifetime.
