A life-changing journey

The trip involved exploring the Isles of Orkney from a single base in Kirkwall. Cory, our guide, was superb, and took us on walks and to archaeological sites on a number of the islands. Every logistical consideration was taken care of, from booking ferries to retrieving a guest's jacket left behind in a restaurant, to collecting another guest's suitcase at Kirkwall Airport after it had been lost at Heathrow. Adventure and Cultural Holiday in Scotland

Wilderness Scotland arranged a guided trip in Scotland for our family. We hiked, kayaked, mountain biked, did archery, danced, listened to music, made scones, learned to spin wool, tubed rapids, zip-lined, learned about Scottish history, geology and natural history, ate fabulous food, tasted whiskey, fished, looked at art, stayed at mostly luxurious and charming accommodations, and had an all-around wonderful time.

Walking - Outer Hebrides & Skye by AnnieP, 6 Jul 2016
Holiday Rating:

Perfect blend of scenery, wildlife and walking

The Outer Hebrides is a stunningly beautiful part of the country often overlooked for warmer climates. The weather may not always be so clement but you are rewarded with amazing scenery, golden beaches and wildlife with hardly another soul around. The Wilderness Scotland guide was always willing to share his in depth knowledge of the area, birds and wildlife and answer any questions we had.

Wilderness Scotland: Orkney Islands 8 day walking tour

A fantastic week. This small group tour worked well for us. The professionalism & enjoyment shown by our guide ensured a truly wonderful & educational experience. I have learnt so much about the bird life, ancient history, geography plus other cultural aspects of the Orkneys. A truly amazing experience & would actually like to return to the Orkneys for a longer look one day

Everything about Wilderness Scotland was perfect. The pre-trip info, & the actual experience. The small group size meant the group quickly became close and remained that way. Our guide was fantastic & we learnt so much from him about so many aspects of Scottish culture, geography, history & ancient history. We felt very well looked after
