Cotswold Way North

We walked from Chipping Camden to Painswick over 5 days, roughly 50 miles. Mickledore handled to bookings and transfer of luggage. We had a wonderful experience and Mickledore was most responsive to our needs. There was plenty of time to explore many of the historic sites as the walk went adjacent to them or just a short distance off the Way

Rating for tour operator:

Mickledore is an excellent operator for walking vacations. Our lodgings varied from B+B's, to Pubs/Inns to a Hotel, all quite nice and suitable. We booked many meals in advance but had no problems getting seating when we did not have reservations. The staff at the Inns and the B+B owners were quite helpful, even providing transport short distances when taxis not available.

81 year old walking South Cotswolds Way

This being the fifth Mickledore holiday I have had, I knew the experience would be good. The accommodation in Painswick, an historic village, was a delight, as was dinner in the old coaching Inn. This being the fifth Mickledore holiday I have had, I knew the experience would be good. The accommodation in Painswick, an historic village, was a delight, as was dinner in the old coaching Inn. The Way is well marked, and though the weather was not brilliant every day, it was compensated for by the superb views and delightful people we met en route. One very wet afternoon, we capitulated and took a taxi to our destination, as we decided we were out for fun, not an army recruitment operation. I organised dinner at all our stops before we left, which was a good idea, as some places we chose were very busy. I highly recommend this walk, and if you can, have an extra day in Bath before returning home. There is so much to see, and sitting on a stone seat in the Baths, used by Romans 2000 years ago, was a sobering experience. We are merely travellers on this earth!

Rating for tour operator:

I have recommended Mickledore after all my walking holidays with them. They are courteous, efficient, understanding (even when I missed a payment after their email went into my Junk box.) It is good to know they are there to help in an emergency, and their information on taxis, eating places, shops etc. are excellent. As is the guide book with the Way well drawn and explained. I have seen the information from other firms doing the same walk, and they are not as efficient.

Strenuous but rewarding Cotwold Way walk

We were blessed with fair weather for all but one day of the Cotswold Way., and the places we stayed were comfortable, welcoming, and well located. Breakfasts were all ample, and the need to find our own packed lunches some of the time, as well as most dinners, was not a problem. A special mention is deserved for the food at The Old Fleece in Stroud, and if you haven't tried Thatcher's Gold Cider on draugtht, do! The walk itself is often ...

Breakfasts were all ample, and the need to find our own packed lunches some of the time, as well as most dinners, was not a problem. A special mention is deserved for the food at The Old Fleece in Stroud, and if you haven't tried Thatcher's Gold Cider on draugtht, do! The walk itself is often quite vertical, both down and up, in all of its sections, most of them accordingly scenic, so be prepared with good hiking boots (we also had sticks), and a fair amount of patience.

Rating for tour operator:

All interactions with Mickledore have been pleasant, and we had no reason to fault their arrangements.

Cotswold Way (North to South Route)

We walked the Cotswold Way National Trail, north to south, starting in Chipping Camden and finishing in Bath. We covered the distance over eleven days and had two nights in Bath before heading back to London. We had two nights at the same B&B's at both Chipping Camden and Dursley, on those occasions we were provided taxi vouchers to return or be taken to the start or finish points for the day. Everything worked perfectly! (Even the weather!)

Rating for tour operator:

They had expertly prepared a travel package that included accommodations, luggage transfer, and taxi transfers where needed. All of it had been prepared ahead and the trip went perfectly. There was briefly some confusion with the luggage transfer company regarding the number of bags, but that was quickly resolved by Mickledore and we didn't miss a beat.

A great Cotswold Way experience!

I had a wonderful time walking the southern part of the Cotswold Way from Painswick to Bath in May 2023: Stunning views and landscape, decent to excellent accommodation, perfect weather conditions, good food, nice people and (mostly) friendly animals.

Walking the Cotswold Way.

Second time walking with Mickeldore with our first time walking Hadrian's Wall a few years ago. All accommodation was booked by them and waiting for our arrival each night, all 3* or better. I would not walk with any other company now. Quality counts. We could not walk before October as this route is now so popular surprisingly by Americans.
