A wonderful walk through the Cotswolds

A really great 8 days walking the Cotswold way. starting at Chipping Campden in the north and ending at Bath. There were plenty of interesting sites along the way - old churches, neolithic long barrows, iron age hill forts and hill top towers. There were plenty of interesting sites along the way - old churches, neolithic long barrows, iron age hill forts and hill top towers. All really interesting and really satisfying to look back at the end of each day's walk and think - did I really come all this way?

Rating for tour operator:

Great experience with Mickledore, everything was very well arranged and the information pack they sent out beforehand was really comprehensive and invaluable in planning each stage. Couldn't fault anything.

The Absolute Perfect Holiday

Three friends and myself completed The Cotswold Way in May 2025. We had perfect weather, not one drop of English rain. The trial was in wonderful shape, signage perfect and most of all the local citizens along the way welcomed us at each step. A lifetime of memories created in 8 perfect days in England

Three friends and myself completed The Cotswold Way in May 2025. We used the company Mickledore based in the UK. They were fabulous We loved the accommodations that they booked for us and had the perfect experience with baggage transfer that was successfully waiting for us at each stop. The two Sarah's who work at Mickledore were wonderful, friendly and professional. A 10 out of 10 experience.

A Wonderful Walk through the Cotswold Hills

My wife and I had long thought of walking along the Cotswold Way - ever since my parents did the same 40 years ago - and this year we finally got around to it. It was the best holiday we have had in a long time, walking the 102 miles between Chipping Campden and Bath through some of the best of the British countryside, and staying at a variety of B&Bs, small hotels and inns along the way. There were some steep slopes - both up and down - but nothing too arduous, and our main luggage was transported for us to the next stop each day, so it was good to be able to travel light. The scenery was magnificent, varying from long views to the Severn estuary and Wales, to woodland walks and pretty (almost too pretty!) villages. We had a wonderful time.

Rating for tour operator:

What made the holiday special, and so easy-going, was the meticulous organisation by Mickledore Travel, from the initial booking to the end of the trip. Everything worked magnificently, from seamless baggage transfers to taxis (for occasional rides to more-distant accommodation) arriving precisely when and where we had been told. The booklet providing individual day-by-day notes on the walk, and all the details of what we would find on the way, gave us everything we could need, so we were just left to enjoy the walking. I know it is a cliché, but Mickledore really did exceed our expectations.

I was a walking holiday around the Cotswolds villages. As I have got older I cannot walk the same distances and Mickledore suggested this holiday which was excellent

We booked 2 10-day walking holidays with rest and transition days. We started our holiday with the Cotswold Way, walking from Chipping Campden to Bath. We spend a couple of days in Bath visiting sights before transitioning to Winchester to walk the South Downs Way to Eastbourne. We chose these 2 walks as we really enjoy being in nature for our holidays; we used to do self-contained bike tours. These 2 walks also showed us the similarities and differences between these 2 nearby regions of the UK that we had not visited before. We met interesting people, both locals and visitors/walkers; walked beautiful countrysides; experienced a trail system unlike any we have ever been on; had great accommodations; and enjoyed good food. All-in-all, a terrific time.

Rating for tour operator:

We booked back-to-back walking holidays with Mickledore Travel this past winter of 2024. They quickly arranged 2 separate 10-day walking holidays, Cotswold Way and South Downs Way, with rest and transition days. They also provided a very responsive resource for train travel. All our reserved accommodations with breakfast were top drawer. Materials provided prior to our departure to the UK were very timely in our receiving them. Our printed and web-based documents were easy to read and use. Arranged taxi service was terrific. Luggage transfers took place as planned. Phone and email discussions regarding bookings and some changes after the bookings were very easy. Because of their service, our 30 days in the UK were an absolute delight. This was our second booking with Mickledore, and we plan to book with them again.

Beautiful views on the Cotswold Way

Just finished the Cotswold Way with Mickledore Walking Holidays and it was great!. Everything was arranged perfectly. B&B's and hotels where great, especially the smaller family owned places where brilliant. I would for sure use them again for my future adventures.

Lovely walk along the Cotswold Way

We had a lovely holiday walking the 102mile Cotswold Way with Mickledore. The surroundings are beautiful with enough variety along the way to keep you interested. Wonderful woodland, amazing wildflower meadows, and some very pretty villages and towns. For those who like walking holidays in the uk this is to be recommended, especially in May and June.

Everything went smoothly. No hitches with B&b bookings, taxi transfers and luggage transportation. The accommodation was generally of a good to excellent standard. A couple of rooms were on the small side. Otherwise I would certainly recommend.

Cotswold Way North

We walked from Chipping Camden to Painswick over 5 days, roughly 50 miles. Mickledore handled to bookings and transfer of luggage. We had a wonderful experience and Mickledore was most responsive to our needs. There was plenty of time to explore many of the historic sites as the walk went adjacent to them or just a short distance off the Way

Mickledore is an excellent operator for walking vacations. Our lodgings varied from B+B's, to Pubs/Inns to a Hotel, all quite nice and suitable. We booked many meals in advance but had no problems getting seating when we did not have reservations. The staff at the Inns and the B+B owners were quite helpful, even providing transport short distances when taxis not available.
