This was our second Peter Sommers holiday and I know it won’t be our last. Having been slightly concerned that there would be an overload of archeology, we couldn’t have been more wrong and loved every moment. The whole week was perfectly balanced, with time to enjoy the boat and the sense of freedom and adventure it offered. The sites were of course amazing, but we secretly knew that they would be, and having Peter Sommers as our guide was an added bonus. He has an amazing knack of judging the pace and providing just the right amount of background information. The weather was exceptionally hot for the beginning of June, but we were looked after perfectly with plentiful chances to swim and relax, and we all became addicted to the continuous supply of raisons, nuts and water designed to keep us going on site. This was a very special week indeed.

"Exploring the Peloponnese" was an extraordinary tour in every respect and sets a high bar for the way we will seek to travel from now on. It was a truly immersive, in-depth learning experience that was edifying and intellectually stimulating, while also fun, convivial, scenically magnificent, and quite satisfying to the tastebuds. It was our first Peter Sommer tour, and now we are absolutely hooked!

Peter Sommer is a first rate tour operator. There is no commercialism or swag or stops made to sell you things -- just a comprehensive, focused, and substantive tour designed to illuminate the history and art of the region and to make it all enjoyable, fun, and authentic. Our two guides, Nota and Michael, were outstanding in their brilliance, their expertise, and their ability to impart their passion for the art and history to all of us, making it come alive. They did it with a smile, with warmth, and with great senses of humor. They have the organization of the tour down to a science, and we truly appreciated that our days were ordered to avoid the crowds. There was also a kind of suspense building progression built into the itinerary; the narrative is all tied together in dramatic conclusion. Alas, we were sad to reach the end, even after fifteen very full days of touring. The Peloponnese is a lovely and fascinating region of Greece, with so much to see and experience.

This was our 2nd tour with Peter Somers Travel, and as before, we thoroughly enjoyed this new experience. We visited wonderfully varied sites, were told fascinating and often eye-popping stories, and looked forward to every day's adventures and fabulous lunch and dinner stops with great anticipation. Our bus transport was comfortable and well organized and our accommodation was excellent with delicious breakfasts and often wonderful dinners on site. A gastronomic tour as well as an archeological delight!

Our guides were both hugely knowledgeable, entertaining, enthusiastic and thoughtful and our group gelled well under their watch.

This was my second gulet tour with Peter Sommer Travels and it met all expectations and more. Sailing on a gulet is one of the best ways to visit the many and wonderful ancient sites of western Turkey. Peter was our guide and his enthusiasm and encyclopaedic knowledge made the trip an enthralling and memorable experience. The crew were all very professional, pleasant and helpful and our chef produced the most delicious meals. We were able to swim before breakfast and after a hot day visiting one of the sights in the turquoise waters of a well chosen bay, or just totally relax on the beautiful boat. In all, a really super week.

This trip exceeded our expectations! It was a sheer pleasure to tour the Peloponnese in its springtime glory in the company of our enthusiastic, knowledgeable and charismatic guides Michael and Nota who brought history, archaeology and culture to life with such verve.

This was our sixth trip with Peter Sommer Travels both on gulets and on the road in Turkey, Greece, Italy and Croatia. Each tour is carefully crafted, with great detail given to all aspects of each trip to maximise the enjoyment of the whole experience for each participant, encompassing archaeology, history, local culture, gastronomy and always consideration of personal comforts. Accompanying expert guides greatly enhance the enjoyment of each trip, expanding the knowledge of each participant. We have had travellers in other tour groups come up to us asking the name of our travel company as they felt we were having a far superior experience. These tours offer a total immersion in place and time. We plan to return for more!

My first tour with Peter Sommer Travels. I have done many guided tours with other companies but this one was the best and exceeded expectation. It won't be my last trip with them.. Every aspect was first rate - the very comprehensive itinerary, the superb planning, the attention to detail, the guides, the accomodation, not only the food itself but the stunning locations of some of the restaurants, the thoughtful coffee and comfort stops along the way and a comfortable bus with a very capable driver. who made you feel very safe even on quite precarious roads.

The two guides were very special and really made the trip for me. We were very fortunate to have an archaeologist and a historian both with extensive knowledge and who gave very engaging presentations wherever we were. They were also delightful company and fun to be with. They both worked extremely hard to satisfy the group's needs and demands and this was done with much grace and patience.

We have just completed our 10th Peter Sommer tour, which I think says it all. This holiday gave us a chance to explore the quieter parts of the beautiful Croatian coastline and to learn about Croatia's complicated but fascinating history in the company of the most engaging, enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide. We enjoyed swimming off the boat, excellent food and wine and the company of the other guests in our small group.

The Peter Sommers Travel team were professional, welcoming and knowledgeable from the moment we booked to when they waved us farewell. The Guide,Paul's love and indepth knowledge of his subject shone through and brought the whole tour alive.

Our week with Peter Sommer and our Turkish guide, Cem Yucesoyon, was a wonderful experience. Living on the spacious gulet was a unique experience, enjoying delicious food, and surrounded by stunning scenery. We were guided through a number of hikes during the week, learning so much about the history and archaeology of the Lycian coast from Peter's encyclopaedic knowledge, and had a lot of fun while doing so! The local lunches with traditional home cooked food were a real highlight. Returning for the evening meal, moored in a beautiful bay, was the perfect end to the day. Highly recommend.
