A seven day cruise along the Turquoise Coast in Turkey. Sailed aboard a classic-styled wooden gulet schooner, along with two guides, a crew of six, and eight total passengers. Started the cruise in the town of Gocek, Turkey, ending in Bodrum. Along the way, visited a number of archeological sites, along with an opportunity to swim in the beautiful waters off of the southern coast of Turkey.

A perfect mix of archeological and gastronomic experiences, while cruising the turquoise waters of the Turkish coast. Led by two outstanding guides that one could easily become friends with. What more could you ask for?

Imagine waking up to sunrise onboard a handcrafted exquisite Turkish gulet boat in the Aegean Sea, the warm September air greeting you as you sip hot coffee waiting for your onboard family style breakfast to be served. The familiar morning routine for you and your fellow passengers is something out of a dream and you soak up every moment, wanting it to never end. This is what we discovered as we toured the coast of Turkey with the Peter Sommer's "Cruising to Ephesus" tour - an experience of a lifetime and memories we will cherish for many years to come. Our crew expertly took care of every detail and all we could possibly need. From delicious Turkish cuisine, coffee and tea, local wines, and daily excursions to see archaeological sites explained in detail by a true expert to local excursions arranged by our warm and generous local guide to daily swimming in the clear blue waters that are brisk and rejuvenating - all this became our dream come true. Never in all our travels have we had such a lovely trip expertly planned for us with such a lovely tour company.

As a couple who spent our careers in tourism, parks and interpretation - we were amazed at how well everything was planned for and created for the passenger's enjoyment. Our competent and engaging ship's captain, Olivier the amazing archaeology expert, Cem the gracious local guide, John the chef and all the rest of the crew were always working to make sure the passengers were well taken care of and ensured that we could both relax and learn all that we could about the area we visited each day. Both before, during and after the trip the PST company was available for questions and concerns. They made sure we always had contact information if we needed it and checked in on us as the day approached to embark on our journey. We always felt well taken care of - a true mark of excellent hospitality. If we can arrange it, we will go an another Peter Sommer's tour - knowing that we will have yet another trip of a lifetime due to all the work the company puts into taking care of their clients. We could not have been happier!

Cruising around the breathtaking Carian Coast, anchored in bays that have harboured ships for millennia, walking across rugged hillsides and through old olive groves, hearing vivid tales of the worshipping, warring, comings and goings of ancient civilisations . . . would alone be thrilling. But then there's the pleasure of swimming and snorkelling in aquamarine inlets, and the delight of gathering at table for conversation and wonderfully fresh and varied Turkish cuisine. A perfect combination of learning and leisure.

Peter Sommer has not lost any of the thirst that first inspired him to trace the footsteps of Alexander the Great. In dynamic and engaging style, he elicits accounts of life in ancient towns out of the rocks of worn hillsides or the carvings on fallen pillars. His passion for the history and archaeology of the land is infectious. Watching his hand outline the contours of earthquake-ravaged city walls, they almost stand tall again. As he swivels to identify the boundaries of an ancient town — the temple, agora, city gateways almost come alive with bustling crowds.

We were complete novices with this type of tour and were absolutely delighted with everything - from the itinerary, locations, guides, Gulet vessel, crew and experiences. We would turn around and do another tour tomorrow if we could! Peter, Jem and Jesper were very knowledgeable in their fields being able to answer all questions the passengers put to them. Our fellow passengers were great to travel with making the whole tour delightful. We learnt so much about this fascinating part of the world and look back on our photos with joy.

We chose Peter Sommer Tours as we wanted a guided tour of the archeological ruins along the Carian coast. Couldn't be happier with our choice as our guides were excellent and very knowledgeable, the places visited were very interesting, the Gulet vessel was very comfortable with a great crew and the small number of fellow passengers suited us perfectly. I had the great pleasure of sailing along the Dalmatian Coast on Peter Sommer Travels’ "Gastronomic Gulet Cruise in Croatia." The tour was superb, led by a brilliant and kind guide supported by an accomplished, professional crew. We visited some wonderful vineyards and olive oil farms, as well as historic sites. Our meals, on and off the boat, were invariably fine; the boat was exceptionally comfortable; the terrain (and "terroir") was beautiful. It was a memorable experience.

Fascinating archaeological and cultural tour of Sicily with the benefit of a well planned itinerary, excellent guides, quality hotels, amazing food and interesting travelling companions. Could not wish for a better way to discover the island and its history.

This was my first trip with Peter Sommers and I congratulate them on the care taken in the planning of the itinerary, the choice of the guides, the hotels and restaurants.

We were a party of four adults and two younger people on a private Gulet trip in south western Turkey for a week in late September. We were keen walkers and enthusiastic for archeological guidance on the Carian Way. We were blessed with terrific guides in Peter Sommer and Cem. They were extremely knowledgeable and deft at adjusting details to fit with the mood of group. The week was a quite celebration for my husbands 70 birthday year with his immediate family plus a couple of friends

Peter Sommer Travel. We enjoyed a similar private gulet trip with Peter Sommer Travel about 12 years ago along the Lycian Coast which was a huge success. Remembering this, we reconnected with Peter Sommer this time around. Peter with his team and wonderful gulet crew seem to have knack of combining comfort and serious guidance from archeologists and historians ect. It is a pure delight from beginning to end.

The most amazing trip - our archaeologist guide was incredibly knowledgeable and engaging and always willing to continue the conversation back on the boat. The food and wine were delicious and thoroughly representative of Turkish cuisine. Sailing on the gules and swimming in the crystal blue waters was so much fun!
