We sailed the Aegean on a Turkish gulet visiting the major Minoan and Classical Greek archaeological sites. Most notably were the settlements 9on Delos and at Akrotiri on Santorini. We walked, ate, learned, laughed, swam in the beautiful Aegean waters and fell asleep on a gently rocking wooden boat.

We have traveled with Peter Sommer Travels 5 times and each time we have been impressed by the highest quality of personal attention, well planned itinerary, tour organization, accommodations and food. Perhaps we should not put food last since it is absolutely sensational and plentiful. Our guides are knowledgeable, warm, so well educated, giving and tolerant. We have never had an off moment which is why we keep coming back for more. We also find that our fellow guests are generally of a like mind in interest and education. We have made lovely friends on these trips.

The following assessment is for our trip, Cruising to the Cyclades, which began on 19 Sept 2025. It is also reflective of our experiences on the five trips that we have taken with with Peter Sommer Travels. On this trips as all others, we were very impressed by the personal attention provided by the guides and support staff, the attention to tour organization which reflects the detailed planning by the staff and on-the-fly adjustments that are needed to address unpredictable changes in weather, the content of the tours provided by exceedingly knowledgeable guides, and the food which has always been exquisitely prepared and plentiful. In addition, it has always been a pleasure to meet new fellow travelers who have shared our general interests, curiosities, and educational levels. Thus, we have made many long-term friendships with many of our trip mates. We are looking forward to many more Sommer adventures.

All communications have been clear, thorough and very well crafted. Likewise our in person telephone conversations have been excellent, unlike many other we have had with other companies.

We had a FANTASTIC week with Filip Budic and crew. Our gulet cruise (our second with Peter Sommers) was educational, relaxing and a gastronomic delight! Each day was planned with a swimming opportunity in the beautiful Adriatic, tours to local towns to include many archaeological sites, and delicious meals and wines. The cabins were comfortable, deck space plentiful and crew was always available for any needs, or to grab drinks for guests! Transfers aboard the zodiac were easy, and land transfers, when needed, were in luxury vans. It was a week we will remember!

Quick replies to all inquiries, assisted us with transfers for our independent travel portion of the trip before the cruise. This is our 3rd Peter Sommers trip and all have been well planned, smooth and delightful.

This was our second tour with Peter Sommer Travels and met all our expectations based on the first. The Cyclades are a great destination, full of history and archaeology, and the gulet is an exceptional way to get around the Aegean (weather notwithstanding). The guides are very knowledgeable and sociable - added a lot of value to the trip. The other guests were a lot of fun to be around, many of them having taken other Peter Sommer trips. The after-tour of Athens was led by a great local guide, also very knowledgeable and sociable. All in all, a great experience and one that makes us want to use Peter Sommer again.

This was our second Turkish style Gulet cruise with Peter Sommer Travels. Both have been wonderful. The ship's crew were very attentive. Our chef prepared gourmet meals even though this was not a gastronomic cruise. Our archeologist guide, Dr. Filip was not only very knowledgeable of Roman and Greek history in Croatia, but he knows history through current events. Filip has a great personality for guiding. Our land excursions included great restaurants, and wine tasting. This was a fun way to experience a new country.

This was our third trip (2 cruises and a land tour) with Peter Sommer Travels. Very good pre-trip communications. Top notch, PhD Archeologist guides who bring history and local culture to life. Food and wine selections were outstanding. Gulet (sailboat) crew spoke great English and got along well with the passengers.

We went on a Peter Sommer Travels private trip along the south coast of Turkey in September 2025. On behalf of my group I want to say how much we enjoyed our trip and to compliment PST on their creation of such a brilliant concept: combining Gulet cruises in beautiful boats with fab food and expert-led Cultural tours. From our first contact with PST the company was unfailingly generous with their time and expertise, patiently and with clarity answering our many questions about our trip. Being new to this, we felt fortunate to have had such excellent guidance about what to expect and how to prepare for our trip. And the office staff were super efficient. Onboard, we had the privilege of meeting our first guide, Dr Richard Bayliss, and felt incredibly fortunate to have had the opportunity to learn from someone so accomplished in his field. Being complete novices, we had no idea that Archaic, Hellenistic, Roman and Ottoman ruins could be so fascinating! This was all down to Richard's interesting and entertaining approach; in several cases, for example, saying that archaeologists, including himself, were unsure of what a particular object might have been used for and inviting us to offer our own explanations. We had a lot of fun in debating these conundrums with Richard, which only added to our pleasure during the site visits; the debate often continuing when we were back onboard. We also benefitted enormously from having Ugur, our second guide with us onboard and on visits. We learnt a lot about Turkey from him. He was amusing, interesting and interested, a perfect guest-facing individual. Our Gulet crew were expert boat-handlers and it all felt very safe. Overall, we all thought our trip was a great success and very good value for money and we would love to take advantage of another Peter Sommer Travels trip in the future.

Friendly, accomplished, knowledgeable, super efficient and flexible to guests' needs.

Blue skies, bluer water, hot sun, white-washed houses set against green or rocky island hillsides, fascinating archaeological sites, Byzantine churches, a wooden Turkish gulet (yacht) with splendid food and wine, a highly congenial small group of fellow travellers, two excellent guides/group leaders: Peter Sommer Travels’ two-week cruise in the Cyclades is a delight. Our group discovered also that high winds can cause an itinerary change almost at a moment’s notice, but that the ship’s captain and crew, and the two group leaders, then pivot smoothly, without a hitch, to a revised order of the sites to be visited. I enjoyed every minute of this September’s cruise, just as I did of the PST Dodecanese cruise I took in 2024. Our two leaders were thoroughly knowledgeable, unfailingly good humoured, amazingly efficient while making it all look easy. The gulet captain and crew were expert and efficient, professionally friendly, and unfailingly helpful. The sites, both major and minor, were excellent. The meals (and wines!) both on the gulet and on shore (the latter often at restaurants with lovely views) were also a highlight. I thoroughly recommend this company and all three of the cruises I have now taken with them (my first cruise, in 2023, was the Lycian Shore).

I have taken 3 cruises now with Peter Sommer Travels, this Cyclades cruise being the latest. The company employs top-notch people, creates thoroughly knowledgeable itineraries, follows through on all of its promises, and handles any problems that occur (e.g., high winds, unexpectedly closed museums) with tact, hard work, and professionalism. It creates wonderful experiences for its travellers, and manages to be both personal and professional.

An in-depth look at the sights along the entire coast of Montenegro sailing in a Turkish gullet with a special emphasis on archaeological sites. The beautiful scenery speaks for itself, but the tour was enhanced by the dedicated, efficient and multi capable crew of the gullet, the expertise, diligence and personal friendliness of our tour leader, the hiring of knowledgeable local tour guides and the excellent meals served on board and ashore.

I am never disappointed taking a Peter Sommer Travels’ tour. The excellent itineraries, the knowledgeable guides, the delicious meals, the general ambiance make for a truly unforgettable and rewarding experience. This was my fourth tour and I will certainly remain a loyal client.

It was wonderfully informative and appropriately paced. What a treat to have the director of one of the archaeological sites discussing his site and other related sites. The boat was comfortable, the crew, very helpful, and the meals were delicious.

It was fantastic to have two folks working together to ensure a positive experience. One person managed the day-to-day details, and the other was the expert on the sites we visited.

The "Cruising to Ephesus" trip was just what we had been searching for! It combined a small group dynamic, very knowledgeable guides, low-key boat experience, amazing Turkish food, and spectacular archaeological sites.
