This was a 2-week tour of Sicily. Everything was superbly planned and organized; we saw every important archaeological site, stayed at wonderful hotels (excellently located and also with excellent food and wine), ate Sicilian specialties at some amazing restaurants, enjoyed the varied landscapes, and were educated by the group leaders (often entertainingly!) in Sicilian history (even pre-history) and society from the beginnings to the present, focused on the sites we visited. A thoroughly enjoyable and stimulating experience.

I have travelled 4 times previously with Peter Sommer Travels, and keep coming back because the experience is always excellent.

The Peloponnese tour was a fabulous trip. The guides, Michael & Nota, were exceptional and perfectly complimented one another. They were able to bring the various archaeological sites to life by their informative and animated descriptions. They were always open to the participants questions & concerns. By far, among the best guides we've encountered on any archaeology tour we've been on.

This was our first tour with Peter Sommer Travels. The days were very well planned. Bus rides from place to place were never too long. Most mornings we stopped at a beautiful location for refreshments. The restaurants where we dined were exceptional be they simple tavernas or fine restaurants. Great hotels as well. A very well run trip in a rich archaeological area! We will definitely book another Peter Sommer Travels tour.

Week long boating tour of the Lycian coast. Has been on my radar for a really long time, with ample hype, but the trip exceed expectations. Gorgeous part of the world where 3 continents coincide and ancient history meets the sea.

From start to finish, incredibly hospitable, capable, and knowledge. Cannot recommend the team strongly enough. Ugur and Athena were superb guides, very informed, and quite proactive around handling any logistical challenges that came about. The captain ran a very smooth operation on board, the support staff were very organized and helpful, and Genghis the cook was superb and generous in making vegetarian accommodations for my wife

A thoughtfully chosen itinerary by expert historians and archeologists, this was one of the best trips I have ever taken. The explanations at each site were not just accurate, but enthralling because of the guides' explanations., They made each site come alive. The care for our comfort was exceptional; the choices of meals was outstanding. And don't forget the driver of our vehicle! He was amazing!

Peter Sommer Travels showed concern for our safety and comfort at all times. While I think that the trip was expensive, we were treated like royalty--care, feeding, transportation, information--all were of top quality. The fact that there were only 18 guests (would have preferred slightly fewer) meant that we had plenty of individual attention. Courtesy and attention to our comfort and safety was nonstop.

Our Cruising the coast of Montenegro trip was a week-long gulet cruise aboard the beautifully fitted out Sadri Usta 1 sailing along the Montenegran coast, visiting fascinating old towns steeped in history, stunning national parks and enjoying the delicious food and wine of the region in wineries, family restaurants and on board. The final couple of days sailing in the glorious Bay of Kotor was sublime!

Our Cruising the coast of Montenegro trip was our 8th journey with Peter Sommer Travels - maybe a testimonial in itself! Every tour we have taken either by gulet or on one of their land based tours has been exceptional. Meticulous planning, engaging and knowledgeable guides and attentive crew,, fascinating excursions and explorations, stimulating travel companions plus superb food and wine, all combine into one terrific package.

Peter Sommer's two week gulet cruise in Turkey was amazing. Each day was a wonderful balance of exploring archaeological sites with an expert archaeologist, visiting small villages for delicious homemade meals or wine tastings, swimming in the warm waters of the Aegean sea, and enjoying comfortable meals and down time on the beautiful gulet. Our guide was excellent, and each day ran smoothly due to his preparations and care. The captain and crew of the gulet were professional, helpful, and lovely, and I felt welcomed and comfortable on the gulet. I hoped to learn a lot on this trip, and I certainly did. The well curated library aboard the gulet was an unexpected surprise. In addition, the Peter Sommer team is super responsive before and after the trip, answering questions and offering advice. I really appreciated the personal customer service. This was an absolutely amazing trip, and I am still thinking about all the places I visited and the beauty of the scenery. 

Everyone on the Peter Sommer Travels team was excellent. They always gave me as much time as I needed to answer my questions, and I never felt rushed or as if I were bothering them with trivial matters. They were always responsive to all emails, and so helpful and kind. Their professionalism and excellence is one reason I would take another trip with Peter Sommer Travels.

I had a great and educational time looking at archeological ruins along the Aegean coast of Turkey.

Exploring ancient sites in Turkiye with someone who knows and loves the area, was a thrilling way both to explore part of the beautiful modern coast line and to envisage its ancient cities.

Peter Sommer's thoughtful consideration of every detail ensured we were able to explore magnificent bays and olive-groved hillsides in comfortable walking conditions. He held us spellbound with his passionate and vivid descriptions of life in ancient cities. And returning to the elegant gulet, we enjoyed different fresh and delicious Turkish dishes every day. The whole experrience: food for body, mind and soul.

We were able to tour the most interesting sites in the Peloponnese with 2 great guides. The hotels we stayed in and the meals we ate were top notch.

The tour operator, that is our 2 guides, were exceptional. They were very knowledgeable and attentive. I have already signed up for another of their tours next year.
