Cruising the Dalmatian Coast: from Dubrovnik to Split

Fabulous tour guide and traveling companions. Sailing and touring on the mainland and the islands. The boat was delightful, the food superb ( I don't know how the cook did it with only a small kitchen), and the amount of free time vs. touring time was perfect.

Exploring the Peloponnese by Greta T, 13 Jan 2024

Touring Greece in sickness and in health...

My husband and I took a wonderful tour of the Peloponnesian peninsula in October of 2023. Every aspect of the tour was well done - the itinerary, the choice of archaeological and historical sites, the amazingly knowledgeable guides, the accommodation, the delicious food, and the plentiful wine. We also found our fellow tour members to be very well-traveled, with interesting stories of their own. We could not have asked for a better experience!...

I had the misfortune to become ill about half way through the tour. The tour guides helped to arrange for a safe accommodation for my recuperation, convenient transportation to the accommodation, kept tabs on me during the entirety of the time I was away from the tour, and enabled me to rejoin the tour once I recovered. Afterwards, the tour operators were extremely helpful when I needed to submit documentation for my successful travel insurance claim for the missed portion of the tour. We subsequently enjoyed another terrific Peter Sommer tour, this time of Athens and environs, and have recently signed up for our third tour with them.

Peter Sommer Travels: Cruising the Dalmatian Coast from Dubrovnik to Split

This week-long cruise was delightful, from the urban splendors of Dubrovniok and Split, to the pastoral beauty of the off-shore islands along the coast. The accommodations onboard were most comfortable, and the foods and wines were delicious.

Best week ever

We loved the entire trip. The gulet and crew, the shore visits to farms and wineries and restaurants and the salt pans and the cooking school and swimming off the boat morning and evening, and most especially our guide Mislav.

Our guide Mislav was top notch. We stopped at interesting sites including salt mining, oyster fishing, a great winery, an olive oil producer, and a sculpting school as well as churches, museums, historic buildings, Adriatic swims, and belle viste. Mislav gave a sense of Croatia thru the ages, from Illyrians to Romans to early Slavs to modern Croats. He loved challenging questions, and wow, he was great with answers. It was an enchanting and fun week during my wife's and my Balkan vacation spent with our close friends and interesting voyagers. Enjoy!

Exquisite, interesting, blissful and relaxing Aegean holiday.

We and another couple (both Peter Sommer tourists on several earlier trips) planned a private two week tour along the Turkish coast -- our group had historical, cultural, and gastronomical interests, and all were satisfied above and beyond our expectations. Although it was a bit hotter than in past trips at that time of year (global warming), the guides compensated by schedule changes. There's no better swimming than along the Turkish Carian Coast, and I swam at every opportunity, 2 or 3 times a day. Our interactions with locals and visits to unique local enterprises (winery, olive oil maker, herbalist, chefs) were memorable.

Rating for tour operator:

Cem and Serdar were a great team to guide our journey through this lovely tour of the Turkish coast. Their in depth knowledge, concern for our comfort, and thoughtful advance planning made our two weeks stimulating, blissful and memorable. Our chef Haluk amazed us at every meal. Everything was beyond our expectations. A trip of a lifetime!

It was a small tour group of only four people, and so we were able to interact extensively with our excellent guide, Nota, who is an Athenian with a lot of knowledge and a lot of passion for the history of her home region. Accommodation for the week was in a lovely hotel in central Athens with an excellent view of the Acropolis. Highlights for my wife and I were visits to Eleusis and the shrine of Demeter and Persephone, the coastal fortress of Aigosthena, Marathon, the Acropolis and the Acropolis Museum.

Rating for tour operator:

This was our second tour with Peter Sommers Travel. Both have been excellent, with very good communication prior to the tour from the moment of expressing interest. We know that Peter Sommers Travel tours will be well organised, will have excellent and knowledgeable guides, and that they will proactively deal with any issues that arise during the tour. We plan to book future tours with them.
