We started our trip in Gocek on the bay of Fethiye. after settleing into our cabins which were comfortable and enjoying a welcoming meal with a glass of sparkly we proceeded along the Caria coast visiting ancient sites such as Lydae , Knidos and enjoying a boat trip on a lovely lagoon where we saw some amazing ancient rock tombs. this and other great sites all guided by our expert on archaeology Peter Sommer. Also on this trip we visited a traditional Turkish village where they make hand made rugs and carpets and two beautiful winery';s . Our hosts at these venues were great spending a lot of time explaining the wine making process. t Throughout the trip we had many opportunities to swim in the beautiful warm mediterranean and had some incredible meals on board the boat where 3 meals a day were provided as well as beautiful Turkish wine with dinner. we also went ashore for a few lunches. where the food was also delicious. Our second Peter Sommer trip and it didn't disappoint. Cruising along the Turkish coast, visiting the most breath-taking archeological sites with an expert guide who brought the ancient cities to life with passion and enthusiasm. The gulet was comfortable and the food fabulous, the crew excellent and fellow travellers great company. Time for swimming in quiet bays or relaxing on deck as we sailed towards the next site. The best way to travel!

Peter Sommer is simply the best. You know that when everything runs so smoothly, a lot of detailed background work and planning has gone on before you arrive. The guides are experts in their field, knowledgeable, passionate and brilliant at bringing the archeological sites to life so you feel you have gained an insight into the ancient world.

I have long dreamed of sailing along the Turkish coast and this dream was finally fulfilled by a Peter Sommer Lycian Coast cruise. We were slightly apprehensive about the trip, no knowing the other seven guests...but it was our good fortune to have wonderful traveling companions and we were all sad to go our separate ways at the end of the trip. Peter Sommer's staff attended to every detail from excellent, healthful Turkish food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner outside on the covered deck, to ample opportunities to swim and kayak in the beautiful Mediterranean, to fascinating walks/hikes among ancient ruins and through interesting seaside towns and villages. As I have mentioned to others, I slept like a baby, rocked each night gently as if in a cradle. What more could one ask for...interesting fellow travelers, sun, water, culture, spectacular Turkish crew who bent over backwards to make this a very special holiday. Could not recommend enough.

Attended to every detail...from boarding and getting settled in...to daily itineraries...always allowing enough time for swimming and kayaking...wonderful food...transfers either by dinghy or small van...through to departure and airport transfers. Extremely well organized.

A live-aboard which combined archaeology with trips into the hinterland This is the 4th or 5th trip we have done with Peter Sommer Travel so we knew what the expect but this was probably the best yet. It was the correct blend of serious study, local experiences, local interest, social time etc

With 10 + people living in close quarters and so every detail has to be thought out - the attention to every detail is immense. As is the local knowledge. Nothing is too much trouble

Simply exceptional … professional from start to finish! As with our previous Peter Sommer tour, it was our guide, Lucia Iacono, and local experts that made the experience most memorable. Lucia provided a wonderful introduction to the food, wine, culture and people of Sicily. Her joy and enthusiasm were infectious. Chef Maurizio shared his passion for Sicilian food, and even taught us how to prepare some dishes. Ben Spencer, clearly an expert in Sicilian wine, led two unforgettable tasting events. Enrico and Rita opened their farm and their hearts to us as did so many others who took care to ensure our group experienced the best of what Sicily has to offer.

My wife, Lisa, and I love to eat, drink and travel. She came across your Gastronomic Gulet Cruise in Croatia, and having experience a wonderful trip on a small boat in the Galapagos, I thought this was a splendid idea. We, well really she, drew up an itinerary that included a couple of days in Dubrovnik then boarding your cruise on the 16th of September. On arriving and meeting our guide Mislav, we were informed that there was a change in the boat we’d be sailing. I thought, “Uh oh!”. Is this possibly a dark cloud. The answer was an outstanding NO! Not only was the boat in great shape, but the crew did their job seamlessly and efficiently. (I am sure that Capitan Luka saved us from a few rocky, as in the boat rocking, nights.) Just a small aside. The other travelers were a very interesting small group of people. They all shared our interests and we really enjoyed their company. It was a small group, just nine of us, but we were certainly wined, dined, and toured in pleasant company Everything on the trip was perfect...a word not strong enough as a measure. Mislav was a fountain of information, all the hosts and proprietors were informative and well spoken, and transportations connections were well timed, the classes were fun and educational, and. of course, Croatia and the Adriatic are magnificent! Thanks for our WONDERFUL trip! We’ll be looking for other Peter Sommer trips in the future. We recommend Peter and his associates for your travel.

A very knowlegeable and personal guide. We learned an extensive amount from pre-history through the Roman Empire up to today.

Peter Sommer Travels' Gastronomic Gulet Cruise in Croatia far exceed the expectations my husband and I had in every way. Every stop on the itinerary was exceptional and carried our seamlessly; and these stops were balanced with plenty of time to relax onboard the gulet for swimming in the crystal clear waters of the Adriatic. The tour guide -- an archeologist by training -- was not only extremely knowledgeable but also one of the nicest people I've ever met; and every member of the crew was skilled, helpful, and caring. The chef fed us with delicious and healthful food, and made adjustments for a few travelers who had special dietary needs. An altogether unforgettable trip.
