We had talked about visiting the Amalfi cost for more than 30 years without getting around to it. This trip disk jot disappoint as a brilliant way of seeing the area and getting to understand the historical context. Really excellent organisation throughout. Boat was very comfortable with fabulous crew who really went the extra mile to make sure everything went well. The sites were breathtaking and exceeded my expectations, especially with the excellent information and context provided by the guides. To top it all our fellow travellers were such good company. Now just to plan another trip!

This was our fifth trip with the company, and the third guided by Peter. A fourteen day gulet trip from Halicarnassus to Ephesus and return, visiting archaeological sites most days, but with time for swimming, shopping and enjoying superb Turkish cuisine both on board and ashore.

Enthusiasm and dedication are Peter's hallmarks and his tireless drive for perfection is always evident.

This small group (ten persons) tour explored the Amalfi coast in Italy by gullet boat. For one week we sailed the Amalfi coast, visiting the archaeological museum in Naples, exploring the ruins of Pompeii and various islands (Ischia, Capri, etc.) and sites along the coast. Although we had visited the area before, the full-day exploration of Pompeii was beyond anything we had experienced previously. With expert guides , great food and beautiful terrain, this trip was perfect. I recommend it to all!

It's hard to describe just how wonderful and knowledgeable all the expert guides have been and to travel by gullet has been magical. Our 5th gulet trip in the Mediterranean with Peter Sommer Travels. Fascinating archaeology, great acccommodation, beautiful Turkish food and wine, fabulous swimming in secluded coves, all with a small group of like minded people, two excellent, helpful guides, a beautiful boat crewed by a friendly professional group of young Turks. What more can you ask for for the perfect holiday? The whole experience from booking to drop off at the airport ran seamlessly and pleasurably.

We spent two weeks on a gulet, exploring the Lycian coast, mainly archaeological sites, in Turkey. It was the perfect combination of relaxation, learning. We swam off the boat, visited ancient sites and villages and enjoyed some very good food. Our guides were excellent, as were the crew of the boat. There were no crowds and we enjoyed the company of the other guests. We had never been on any other type of organised tour before our first trip with Peter Sommer Travels in 2013. We have now done seven and are already thinking about where to go next year. That probably says more than any review we could give.

Peter Sommer Travels specialise in expert-led archaeological tours, some of them land based and others by boat. They cover Greece, Turkey, Italy and Croatia, as well as more recently added tours based in England, Scotland and Ireland.

We loved everything about this tour. The boat was beautiful...exceptional layout for public spaces and nicely appointed cabins. Our guides, Filip and Mislav were amazing. They easily integrated with our group, possessed incredible expertise, led insightful tours, and were sensitive to the everyone's preferences and needs throughout the trip. We left with a much better appreciation of Croatia, it's people, and it's history. We look forward to our next Peter Sommer tour!

We enjoyed personalized service throughout, from our initial inquiry to preparing for our tour, and from exceptional guides during our trip. It was clear a lot of effort was put forth behind the scenes to ensure no detail was overlooked. We never waited...the zodiac was always on time to pick us up; the tour vans and local guides were always there when we arrived ashore. We didn't have to figure out how to split the wine bill at dinner or the drink bill when we stopped at local cafes; Peter Sommer took care of this. A talented chef turned out great meals from a tiny galley, and we were treated to excellent meals at local restaurants ashore. All of this was seamlessly and thoughtfully presented in a way that looked effortless. We appreciate all the hard work that went into providing a flawless experience.

What a way to spend two weeks, cruising the Western Turkey shores, visiting amazing Archaeological sites with a world renowned Turkey specialist archaeological tour guide, combined with great food, excellent crew, secluded bay swimming, all while travelling on a beautiful wooden Gulet.

Peter Sommer Travels run a very professional tour operation, specialising in Gulet cruises in the Aegean Sea together with expert tour guides. Could not fault any aspect of the whole tour and company.
