Peter Sommer Travels: Cruising the Dalmatian Coast from Dubrovnik to Split

This week-long cruise was delightful, from the urban splendors of Dubrovniok and Split, to the pastoral beauty of the off-shore islands along the coast. The accommodations onboard were most comfortable, and the foods and wines were delicious.

Mislav was very knowledgeable, and his informative and often witty commentaries on the sites we visited added greatly to our enjoyment of the trip.

Gastronomic Gulet Cruise Croatia by Very, very satisfied, 3 Jan 2024

Best week ever

We loved the entire trip. The gulet and crew, the shore visits to farms and wineries and restaurants and the salt pans and the cooking school and swimming off the boat morning and evening, and most especially our guide Mislav.

Cruising The Dalmatian Coast: From Dubrovnik To Split was a wonderful adventure

Our guide Mislav was top notch. We stopped at interesting sites including salt mining, oyster fishing, a great winery, an olive oil producer, and a sculpting school as well as churches, museums, historic buildings, Adriatic swims, and belle viste. Mislav gave a sense of Croatia thru the ages, from Illyrians to Romans to early Slavs to modern Croats. He loved challenging questions, and wow, he was great with answers. It was an enchanting and fun week during my wife's and my Balkan vacation spent with our close friends and interesting voyagers. Enjoy!

A Turkish Odyssey by Berta, 20 Dec 2023

Exquisite, interesting, blissful and relaxing Aegean holiday.

We and another couple (both Peter Sommer tourists on several earlier trips) planned a private two week tour along the Turkish coast -- our group had historical, cultural, and gastronomical interests, and all were satisfied above and beyond our expectations. Although it was a bit hotter than in past trips at that time of year (global warming), the guides compensated by schedule changes. There's no better swimming than along the Turkish Carian ...

Although it was a bit hotter than in past trips at that time of year (global warming), the guides compensated by schedule changes. There's no better swimming than along the Turkish Carian Coast, and I swam at every opportunity, 2 or 3 times a day. Our interactions with locals and visits to unique local enterprises (winery, olive oil maker, herbalist, chefs) were memorable.

Rating for tour operator:

Cem and Serdar were a great team to guide our journey through this lovely tour of the Turkish coast. Their in depth knowledge, concern for our comfort, and thoughtful advance planning made our two weeks stimulating, blissful and memorable. Our chef Haluk amazed us at every meal. Everything was beyond our expectations. A trip of a lifetime!

Fascinating Tour of Athens

This was a week-long tour of Athens and surrounding areas of Attica on which we visited sites of interest from antiquity, museums and on the last day, sites of interest from Athenian and Greek history from the 19th and 20th centuries. It was a small tour group of only four people, and so we were able to interact extensively with our excellent guide, Nota, who is an Athenian with a lot of knowledge and a lot of passion for the history of her ...

It was a small tour group of only four people, and so we were able to interact extensively with our excellent guide, Nota, who is an Athenian with a lot of knowledge and a lot of passion for the history of her home region. Accommodation for the week was in a lovely hotel in central Athens with an excellent view of the Acropolis. Highlights for my wife and I were visits to Eleusis and the shrine of Demeter and Persephone, the coastal fortress of Aigosthena, Marathon, the Acropolis and the Acropolis Museum.

Rating for tour operator:

This was our second tour with Peter Sommers Travel. Both have been excellent, with very good communication prior to the tour from the moment of expressing interest. We know that Peter Sommers Travel tours will be well organised, will have excellent and knowledgeable guides, and that they will proactively deal with any issues that arise during the tour. We plan to book future tours with them.

Exceptional trip in & around Crete Greece

Everything about the travel was handled with great care. Overnight accommodations were wonderful, food choices absolutely delicious, travel from site-to-site was comfortable in small coach. Our 2 tour guides were amazing. Their knowledge of history & archeology was glorious. Their care for our comfort was to notch.

We loved the 'morning talks' from our friendly, personable and knowledgeable guide, Dr Richard Bayliss, and his evening meal deconstruction of what we saw and experienced that day. At breakfast, the excitement of the group's anticipation of the day's itinerary was palpable. The visits to ancient sites were well orchestrated from transport with friendly locals, notes and narrative, access and health and safety (delightful logistics manager Ugur an absolute gem). The crew and food on both our gulet trips were 100% excellent. Nothing was too much trouble and always with a smile. As a result, we have come to love Turkey and the Turkish people. Our first Peter Sommer tour (Cyclades) was supposed to be our "once in a lifetime" trip. We are now booked for a third!

Wonderful archaeological and cultural gulet cruise of the Aegean

Even though much of our final itinerary was not the one we were expecting (due to unseasonable winds), it was outstanding. Even though much of our final itinerary was not the one we were expecting (due to unseasonable winds), it was outstanding. Our itinerary was well-paced, perfectly planned and executed with variety in the types of places we visited: archaeological and volcanic sites, museums, castles and monasteries, as well as wonderful little restaurants that specialise in cuisine local to each island, and beautiful remote bays for swimming and relaxing. Our guides, Maria and Graham were not only engaging, caring and attentive to our collective as well as individual needs, they were also incredibly knowledgeable and wonderful storytellers, interweaving mythology and history and helping us visualise life at the sites we visited. When we visited popular tourist destinations, they expertly guided us through the sites of interest, somehow avoiding the crowds we would have expected. The gulet and cabins were very comfortable and the food on gulet was always delicious, fresh, and varied. When in port the gulet was always moored convenient to the town centre. This provided safe and easy access to the town for those of us who wanted to continue exploring following the day’s activities. I enjoyed every day of this holiday and hope to be a repeat traveller with Peter Sommer Travels.

The team at Peter Sommer Travels (PST) was always very responsive to my queries. Logistics (such as payments, documentation, transfers, customs) were handled efficiently and smoothly. PST provided a thorough booklet on what to expect and what to bring / not bring. PST’s attention to detail and local knowledge ensured a stress-free, outstanding, informative, off the beaten track, thoroughly enjoyable holiday. Overall, I consider PST holidays excellent value for money given what is included – expert guides, all accommodation and tours, all meals on and off the boat, wine, and airport / hotel transfers.
