Galicia: Lighthouse Way by Papa, 3 Oct 2018

Unique walk along the Galician Coast of Death - the Lighthouse Way.

Six of us had an excellent walking holiday in September, organised by On Foot Holidays. We spent 7 nights on a linear walk along the Lighthouse Way in Galicia, Northern Spain. It was a unique walk through magnificent coastal scenery. Some of the walking was quite challenging, but it was always very exhilarating to walk along the cliffs and across wonderful sandy beaches. The little towns/villages where we overnighted all had their own character.

Rating for tour operator:

On Foot Holidays' organisation was impeccable. They provided very comprehensive Walkers’ Packs, detailed instructions and good maps, as well as helpful hints about which beaches were safe. The accommodation was excellent and we had the daily support through On Foot Holidays of a Spanish contact who knew the walk and gave us daily weather reports and other useful information - a service we have never before encountered with a walking tour provider.

Ligurian Hills by Sprouty, 1 Oct 2018
Holiday Rating:

Varied walk with Fantastic views. Great sense of achievement when we got to the coast at the end.

Two days walking through vineyards, followed by four days crossing the Apennines with a spectacular descent to the Ligurian coast on the last day. Excellent food in small local hotels each night. Luxurious spa hotel at the end to recover in.

Marvelous walking through the Rhine Gorge.

We're sitting in the Hotel Brenner in Koblenz, after our splendid 7-day walk. We are VERY happy customers. Thank you for your attention to every detail in designing our hike. Quite pleased with your choice of lodgings, many tips and recommendations and superb customer service. Quite pleased with your choice of lodgings, many tips and recommendations and superb customer service. Most of all, though, your very specific word choices--when specific words mean the difference between getting lost and staying on track--were just great. We never got lost! We are seniors (70 and 62), maybe a little more fit than average, and found the routes just challenging enough (while taking shortcuts sometimes to explore castles or towns).

This was my first experience of a walking holiday provided by an operator and I was travelling alone, so it was important to me to feel well prepared and supported at all stages. Rating for tour operator:

Communication was excellent at all times. The advertised description was accurate and a good match for my needs, except that I wanted some flexibility around accommodation in the start and destination cities. On Foot were very supportive in helping me meet this objective, even though I was not using their partner hotels. I would not hesitate to recommend On Foot Holidays and was particularly impressed by the positive way that the local contacts spoke of their long-term relationship with the company.

Catalonia: El Priorat by Iain&Stella, 23 Sep 2018

A challenging experience and a lot of friendly faces

We walked the Priorat 7-day "Monastery & Vineyard" route. Some challenging steep climbs and (and drops!) in stunning scenery. A very friendly welcome at every accommodation. Still very warm in mid September.

First class walking holiday in spectacular Galacia

Fantastic holiday - an escape to the wonderful rugged coastline of Galicia. A beautiful walk over six days with the Atlantic Ocean on one side and miles of deserted trail and beaches to explore. Faultless arrangements and daily support. Great accommodation and a chance to meet some of the friendliest Spanish locals along the way. Local food (fish/shellfish) and wine was memorable for all the best reasons.
