Dordogne with On Foot by Curt, 15 Oct 2024

A beautiful walk through the countryside of SW France.

Our party was a group of nine long time friends. This is the third annual walk that we have taken together (and second using On Foot). We all enjoy the exercise and appreciating the countryside at a slow pace. An organized walk with a daily destination and departure time, minimizes decisions that a group has to make, and we like this aspect. We all enjoy the exercise and appreciating the countryside at a slow pace. An organized walk with a daily destination and departure time, minimizes decisions that a group has to make, and we like this aspect. Of the walks we have done, I believe most were in agreement that this beautiful valley is at the top so far! It was not just the beauty of the landscape, but the quaint medieval villages that we passed through and had our lodging. Around every corner there were new and interesting sites.

I have appreciated the ease of communication and prompt, thorough replies to our questions. The tours are very well organized, and we have appreciated the flexibility to modify a few things upon request.

A WALKING AND FOOD HOLIDAY IN SLOVENIA

Our walking holiday in Slovenia was beyond our expectations. The country landscape is stunning, the Slovenian people are kind and welcoming, the guesthouses superb and the food was scrumptious (3 and 5 course dinners). We booked this trip after a fabulous holiday with On Foot in May this year where we walked Naxos and Amorgas in the Cyclades. That trip was so fantastic that we came home and scheduled Slovenia for the fall. Our advice is: ...

Cilento National Park by Irish , 15 Oct 2024

None of us had heard of Cilento, but we will never forget it! A magical place.

Our first walking holiday! We're late 50s to mid 60s, 2 with stressful jobs, the third with a year of elderly parent hospitalisation. We all needed to switch off. And did! The routes were full of wonders, challenging enough for us. Weather was glorious. Surrounded by beauty, with fresh, aromatic air, in varied scenery. Our 3 nights in the hills were the best, but the coastal hotels were a treat in their own right, all beside the sea. We had ...

The routes were full of wonders, challenging enough for us. Weather was glorious. Surrounded by beauty, with fresh, aromatic air, in varied scenery. Our 3 nights in the hills were the best, but the coastal hotels were a treat in their own right, all beside the sea. We had 2 nights in Paolo and Concetta's Antico Convento, a completely unspoilt building in Rocca Cilento, where the roofs are weighed down with rocks to stop them blowing away! Their food was extraordinarily good and everything about their hosting was enthusiastic. Luisa, our host at Il Mulino in Galdo, is a true countrywoman, who welcomed us heartily despite being in the middle of the olive harvest. Almost everything we ate there was farm produce. Beyond tasty! We used the app for route finding. It's fool-proof, and bursting with information. The restaurant recommendations were excellent too.

Rating for tour operator:

We booked very close to our travel dates (we're Irish). On Foot didn't blink, just pulled out all the stops to make our trip happen. We expected courtesy but On Foot managed to also come across as friendly and warm, which matters to us. We are very grateful. All the transfers of our luggage and ourselves worked perfectly. When we wrote to thank On Foot they were genuinely thrilled to hear from us, and to get our feedback. Couldn't be better.

The Amalfi Coast Experience

If you're happy to embrace the challenges of hill walking, then this holiday allows you to escape the tourist throng in the popular towns and enjoy the dramatic coastline along largely deserted tracks (apart from Path of the Gods .... although the camaraderie with other walkers also pushing through the pain barrier of steep ascents was an entertaining side line!). OFH's amazing new App made route following largely idiot-proof and helpfully included hotel and restaurant locations. Hotel choices were largely very good on such a busy coastline, the majority having sea view terraces offering post walk R&R away from the madding crowd.

Rating for tour operator:

On Foot Holidays offer the perfect combo of point-to-point walking in lovely European locations and rounding off the day with largely handpicked accommodation and restaurant tips. The holidays are thoughtfully crafted and well organised by a friendly and responsive customer service team. It's nice to come across a company where substance reliably meets spin!

Rating for tour operator:

On foot holidays were a delight to work with, prompt in replying to any emails and accommodating when oneof our party dropped out. The accommodation they booked was first class, the walking notes and app excellent (we didn't get lost or confused). Their person on the ground couldn't have been better, always answering our whatsapps promptly, arranging taxis where necessary, and thinking ahead for us in terms of booking places to eat.

Dordogne with On Foot by SF Traveler, 14 Oct 2024
Holiday Rating:

Beautiful, well designed itinerary in the Dordogne

Our itinerary each day was well designed, moving through landscapes and terrain that were always changing. It was challenging for us but not overwhelmingly so. Every day was different, so variable - wooded paths, open farmland, fields of lavender, sorghum, corn, orchards of walnut trees and apples, steep ravines whose sides were covered in limestone scree, and villages, often with sites to see. It's hard to think of anything we didn't like.

The OnFoot team was very responsive to our questions and very well-informed. The app they asked us to try out was excellent as was the booklet with notes on the various towns.

A wonderful way to experience and discover a part of Greece we did not know

Our first time on a walking holiday and we cannot thank On Foot for making it such an easy, well-organised and enjoyable experience. They provided all the information we needed well in advance, with the comfort of having a local expert should we need one (we didn't1).
