Amalfi Coast with On Foot by gim, 17 Jul 2022
Holiday Rating:

Strenuous but very rewarding

Amalfi, Ravello, and Positano were too touristy but other places we stayed or passed through were lovely. The walks traversed a good variety of environments - village, agricultural, forest, woodland - with fantastic views and a good insight into life on the Amalfi peninsula. We had many pleasurable interactions with local people, and enjoyed the feeling of being welcome beyond the expected tourist reception.

On Foot Holidays were excellent and thorough. They responded promptly to any requests for information and help, and the organisation and background material for the tour was very good.

Spectacular walk along the Rhine

The Castles of the Rhine was our third walking holiday with On Foot Holidays and was the best so far, helped by the warm sunny weather which meant jumpers remained in the suitcases the whole week. We orginally planned to do this in September 2020 but due to Covid, it was postponed twice and this was to our advantage as we could have an extra day walking than we might have had in 2020. We stared at Lorch and finished at Koblenz - most days involved a ferry crossing which was easy and then started the walk with an ascent. The views were stunning down the Rhine and each hotel was welcoming, the stay at Schloss Rheinfels was particularly memorable with a good restaurant with excellent service. On Foot and the hotel had co-ordinated so well, that the waiter knew Margaret could not eat onions!

Rating for tour operator:

On Foot are a great companty with very helpful and flexible staff, we are now thinking which walk to do in 2023. We had to rebook this twice due to Covid and Agin Foot were very helpful in doing this and made no charge at all for doing this.

Lake Maggiore by Steve R., 3 Jul 2022

Great trip to the Lake Maggiore region

We spent five days in the region, including four days of self-guided walking. It was wonderful.

The entire team at On Foot is fantastic. They are extraordinarily responsive and creative, and a true pleasure to work with. When booking our holiday, there were a few complications and the On Foot team showed tremendous determination and creativity to make the whole thing work for us. We have taken three holidays with them and will do more in the future.

Gorgeous and worry free hike through beautiful Devon

We worked with On Foot Holidays to plan an amazing walk through the Devon countryside and Dartmoor National Preserve. Along the way, not only did we enjoy the most beautiful scenery and wildlife, but every lodging we visited was exceptional in it's friendliness, comfort, and charm. OFH went out of the way to ensure our walking routes maximized views and diverse terrain to ensure a hiking trip that was both lovely and exciting.

They are the best. They are incredibly responsive and extremely helpful. They really listen to your concerns and help you make modifications to your trip so that it suits your special needs or interests. For such a modest price, you feel like you are enjoying a bespoke experience. Working with them is a real joy.

Cornwall-Lands End Circuit

We are very happy with our walk, it was very beautiful route. It took longer than we expected, but we would do it again. Better to take longer time and enjoy more.

Naxos and Amorgos On Foot Holidays

Excellent from start to finish. On Foot Holidays we’re extremely well organised, provided reliable walking directions and all necessary travel information. The hotels were of an excellent standard with very high levels of service. We loved the islands we visited, both Greek gems which offered different experiences. The walking was a little hard due to the under foot conditions but hugely enjoyable.

Naxos and Amorgos by Kolbird, 26 Jun 2022

A perfectly organized self-guided walking holiday

We had a wonderful time exploring the less-traveled parts of the Greek islands of Amorgos and Naxos. The suggested walking routes were well designed and were appropriately rated for difficulty levels. Transfers to and from the ferries, as well as to and from the starts and ends of the walking routes, were prearranged and went off without a hitch.

This was our third walking holiday organized by OnFoot Holidays and, as before, we could not have expected a better trip. The level of organization....from route planning to local accommodation arrangements to personalized trip planning service....is always spot-on. The response times to emails with our questions both prior to and during the holiday was amazing. I'm certain we received some answers that were sent well outside of their normal office business hours. We can confidently recommended OnFoot Holidays for anyone wanting to do a self-guided walking holiday in Europe.

Peak District by Suffolk Ramblers, 25 Jun 2022

From peak to peak : on foot and by bus in the Peak District

Our holiday began at the southern tip of the Peak District and took us across dales, over high moors and along quiet grassy paths as well as well-trafficked, paved and sometimes eroded ridges. We spent a week following a route which had been planned for us, but we made various adjustments and took three different buses to shorten the full distance to walk. We stayed at a b & b, two hotels and an inn aptly named the Rambler Inn at Edale.

Once you have chosen your holiday from a range of British and continental options, On Foot Holidays provide an itinerary and detailed route-finding in a pack. In our case they included the two Ordnance Survey Outdoor Leisure maps of the Peak District. They also include public transport details relating to the start and finish of our holiday - Matlock and Edale in our case plus bus times for optional travel within the area. They also provide the phone number of a local person who can be contacted .in case of an emergency. Last but not least, they provide a luggage service to your onward destination so that you only have to carry a day-pack.

Living like a Pasha and swimming with dragons

A six-day holiday with five day mostly linear walk in the Vikos area, northern Greece. Luggage was transferred between guest houses. A really lovely and unique part of the world - the villages, paths, landscape all to be enjoyed, and some spectacular views. Varied, from Vikos Gorge, which was hot at the end of May, to the melting snowfields below Astraka. The trip included a night in Astraka Mountain Hut, and a walk to Dragon Lake (the 'dragons' ...

A really lovely and unique part of the world - the villages, paths, landscape all to be enjoyed, and some spectacular views. Varied, from Vikos Gorge, which was hot at the end of May, to the melting snowfields below Astraka. The trip included a night in Astraka Mountain Hut, and a walk to Dragon Lake (the 'dragons' are now the hundreds of newts that inhabit the lake). The guest house accommodation was luxury and the food excellent, particularly the home cooking (although the Greeks give you too much food and I never know how many courses to expect).

Rating for tour operator:

I was kept very well informed throughout. The location and itinerary were well thought out. A good sample of the villages and an interesting route. The amount of walking was well planned. All the accommodation was delightful. They provided a lot of information, which for me was too much (I had hoped to travel light). The personal itinerary, maps and GPS file were the most useful.
