best holiday ever!

Every bit as beautiful as promised. Fantastic views, good walking, delicious food, places to stay that we would have chosen ourselves, and a warm welcome everywhere we went. Camogli (and the 792 steps down into it) was a delightful end to the walk. One highlight was lying beside the ridge track and having swifts scything over us for 15 minutes. We have already recommended this holiday to several friends

Couldn't have been better. Prompt answers to all preliminary enquiries and very good provision of information. Maps and directions all good, and we know from friends who did this route previously that comments are incorporated into later versions of information provided. The background history and info all good, clear and interesting. I rang the local contact for advisability of walking in Italy in August and was told there was enough shade on the route to protect us: this was right. Plus when one of our company decided to miss half a day's walking and take a taxi the same contact rang us to enquire wheether all was well.

Idyllic countryside walking trip with excellent accommodations & food

We walked for 6 days through the Dorset countryside, with our first night in Salisbury and finishing in Lyme Regis. Each night we stayed at a B&B (the food and accommodations were universally excellent), and our luggage was transported between destinations each night such that we only had to take a day pack with us. The route was beautiful, with changing landscapes and a variety of interesting sights along the way.

On Foot offered a very friendly, personal service. We even got to meet our route specialist at the beginning of the trip in Salisbury, and were welcomed by all of the staff at the office. They were professional and well-organized with a very personal touch. It's easy to see that they put a lot of care and effort into planning their routes, choosing the best places to stay, and providing incredibly precise walking directions and support to ensure you have an enjoyable and hassle-free trip.

Great walking in beautiful island settings

We very much enjoyed the places we stayed in which reflected the real country rather than being hotels-anywhere. The people we met through the company were all helpful and friendly. The walks were well designed and very clearly explained so we could relax and enjoy the views.

They were both extremely efficient and extremely helpful. All the business side was dealt with clearly and competently, and they dealt with our questions immediately and positively.

Trek along the "Coast of Death"

A walking village to village trek on the Spanish Galician coast. On Foot move all baggage forward to their pre-booked accommodation.

Rating for tour operator:

The trek was self guided and On Foot provided the most thorough instructions, maps, tips etc. that we have ever received from similar companies. Their in-country ground support was also excellent and in contact each day.

A true away from the crowds walking and culinary experience

4 and 1/2 days walking in the hills of Catalonia following very detailed instructions. Luggage was transported by OnFootHolidays. Hosts in the b&B s were great. Wildflowers along the paths were prolific and colourful. All in all a wonderful experience in a country we had not visited before.

Rating for tour operator:

Provided detailed instructions of the walks, great accommodation and luggage transportation. Lots of advice and local knowledge. Always answered any queries we had.

Chamonix and the French Alps

This holiday comprised a stay of 7 nights at 2 different lodgings in the Chamonix Valley. The operator of the trip, On Foot Holidays, set up all the lodging and the transportation for our luggage between sites. In addition, they provided a variety of extremely well documented self guided hiking itineraries for each location and helpful information for transportation before and after the trip.

Rating for tour operator:

The operator is On Foot Holidays, located in the UK. From the first communication with them via emails regarding inquiries about the trip to the final communications with trip reservations, they provided outstanding instant service. There was also follow up during the trip and a meeting our first night with their hiking expert in Chamonix. All arrangements were spot on and any concerns we had were answered immediately. The accommodations as well as hiking instructions were top notch. There is nothing I would have changed!

Wonderful Walking!

We were walking in the Dordogne - fascinating area, beautiful countryside, a wealth of old footpaths - and we were blessed with perfect autumn weather.

Great communications and preparatory materials, excellent hotels and lovely pathways made for a superb walking experience.

After a preliminary day exploring the islands in Lake Maggiore from our friendly and very comfortable hotel on Isola Superiore, we started up into the hills for our first, and most challenging, day of walking. The second day of uphill was perhaps my favorite, as the uphill portions were beautifully balanced out with long level sections through lush Beech forests,. The day ended at Mottarone, the highest point in our walk, featuring stunning views of surrounding lakes and mountains. After a superb dinner and very comfortable evening at Villa Pizzini in Mottarone, we enjoyed two days of gentle downhill pathways, again through Beech forests and the occasional meadow, to our final destination, Orta San Giulio, a beautiful historic town on the shore of Lake Orta. On the next day, while the rest of my group took off for the optional walk around a portion of Lake Orta, I opted to stay back and have a quiet day exploring the town and the surrounding area. The pedestrian walkway around the Orta San Giulio peninsula was especially lovely. Unexpected epicurean highlights of the entire trip included superb local fish (which I chose to indulge in almost every night, it was so delicious), often simply grilled or baked, and the excellent Piedmont red wines.

Rating for tour operator:

OnFoot were great communicators and provided excellent, clear materials for both preparatory and enroute experiences. I appreciated the way they stayed in touch and, with only one exception, the excellent accommodations and recommendations. I would definitely use them again - slightly more expensive than the operator we have used in the past, but well worth the extra cost given the materials, the communication, and the accommodations.

The lovely Lighthouse Way

We had an excellent time, courtesy of the first-rate service we received from On Foot Holidays, perfect weather and very friendly and hospitable Portuguese.

This was our first time with On Foot Travel. We read about them and The Lighthouse Way in a Saturday newspaper and I contacted them. I had quite a number of conversations with various members of staff and they were unfailingly helpful and friendly. In fact I always felt that I was their most important customer ever!
