Hiking the Menalon Trail/Arcadia Greece

We opted for the On Foot Holiday 6 night route with an additional 3 rest days in Vitina, Stemnitsa and Dimitsana. Hiking this area of Greece is first rate. Gorgeous scenery and magical mountain villages. Our itinerary included a home stay that was the highlight of our trip.

Rating for tour operator:

Always available, quick to respond to any questions, friendly, good sense of humor, people on the ground in Greece helpful, reliable and very friendly. On Foot covers every last detail, incl hiking the opposite direction as most, a little bit of genius making the village of Dimitsana the final prize. Route notes, maps, and GPS app were indispensable. The only thing OFH doesn't do is walk for you!

A beautiful walk in unspoilt Greek countryside

We enjoyed a self-guided walk along the Menalon Trail in the unspoilt Arcadia region of the Peloponnese in Greece. We walked along well-signposted ancient paths, passing through many delightful mountain villages. The scenery was richly varied, the hosts at our B&B accommodation were very welcoming, while the local dishes were a daily treat.

This was our seventh trip with On Foot Holidays. They design the route, provide detailed and easy-to-follow walking instructions, organise all of the accommodation en route, and arrange daily baggage transfers. All we have do is turn up and walk, knowing that we don't need to worry about any aspect of the holiday.

Super walking trip in Mallorca

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our self guided walking holiday in Mallorca. The walk was generally quite easy with a few moderate sections. We loved the scenery, the hotels and the food.

Ribeira Sacra by Ronny, 29 Oct 2023

An authentic walk through rural, Northern Spain

We had a great hike through the Ribeira Sacra. Visiting small towns and walking rural paths was an opportunity to experience a level of authenticity often difficult to achieve in European travel. While the route was extremely scenic, we found the towns, villages, and even Ourense to be very "regular" in the sense that they were not fabrications for tourists, but rather real places with real people. On Foot Holidays provided flawless logistical arrangements - our trip was without even a single minor hiccup. Evey accommodation was well chosen and every other recommendation was spot on. The route directions were very detailed and accompanied by a very effective .GPX file of the route. Each day's hike was challenging but achievable and filled with great views and scenes throughout. I don't think we could have chosen better accommodations ourselves.

An excellent holiday discovering a quiet, unspoilt and relatively unknown area of Spain. Every part of the organisation of the holiday happened efficiently and as planned ie transfers all occurred according to plan, hosts were expecting us and knew our dietary requirments. The accommodation was of a high standard given the limited availability in a non-touristy area and the On Foot staff had obviously built up a good personal relationship with our hosts so we benefitted from those personal touches ie home made cakes and jams, swimming pool pump turned on just for us, restuarant opening just to serve us on a Sunday evening. Wonderful walking holiday in a beautiful, different, interesting and relatively undiscovered area of Portugal - a very memorable and special holiday.

Attention to detail, quick responses to our questions and genuine intention that we would experience the places and enjoy the journey. We are based in Australia, but quite honestly their help and attention was as if they were aroundthe corner. We have used ONFOOT several times for different walks in Europe and always been extreme,y happy. Very professional operator. They have done the walks themselves and this comes across with their advice and guidance

Alpes Maritimes by Ms P C 23, 23 Oct 2023
Holiday Rating:

A good range of walks with enough challenge for us both, fantastic scenery, excellent stops in really friendly villages and towns

The Alpes Maritimes are a hidden gem, only 20 kilometres from the coast but a different world of twisty roads, stunning villages perched on top of craggy cliffs, and the walking has all the variety you would expect from a mountainous region. The people are welcoming and friendly and the history is as fascinating as you would expect of a region so close to the border with Italy

On Foot are always impressive - nothing is left to chance as they check every detail of the arrangements and make sure the local contact is fully briefed on our particular needs. The briefing material is excellent and they respond fully and carefully to any requests we make of them.
