A wonderful 6 day walk in the hills west of Barcelona
We travelled by train from Oxford to Barcelona, spending a few days in Paris. Our On Foot Holidays walk commenced in Poblet, west of Barcelona, and headed south and west into the wine-growing area of El Priorat. A superb route for our self-guided walk, with excellent route notes which guided us well. Accomodation and food, including picnics for our walking days, was also excellent.

On Foot Holidays provided very good information about the route and accomodation on their website. This was backed up by excellent communication by email or by phone. We were able to learn more details of the route from staff who had recently walked the route themselves. Very good maps and route information provided, plus a GPS and map download of the route which was well explained, and worked well. Also helpful and interesting background information re the history of the area, and flora and fauna.

Beauty and Culture in Andalucia’s White Villages
Early April is an excellent time to hike between four distinct villages in Andalucía. Each village was unique in its protective position, either draping a mountain peak or surrounded by verdant cliffs. Between the villages, the self guided hiking trip provides gorgeous views to far flung little white villages, nestled into their landscape. Between the villages, the self guided hiking trip provides gorgeous views to far flung little white villages, nestled into their landscape. At the end of each long day, we were warmly welcomed to an impeccable inn, and found cold drinks and excellent dining. Our favorite experience was crossing Grazalema Natural Park, an awe inspiring traverse that had us stopping often to take pictures, which could never do it justice, and remark about the colorful spring flowers carpeting the green grass, the remarkable rock formations, and the gentle surrounding hills and peaks.

This was our eighth trip with On Foot Holidays, and they continually impress us with their personal and professional communication and services. They provide a full package of information, including an excellent Walkers Pack, full of details from local history and culture, to post travel bus and train schedules. Their local contacts have always been very resourceful and friendly. We often remark to fellow walkers of their quality of service, as we know On Foot is superb.

When can we go again?
We hiked the spectacular GR221 Dry Stone Route in Mallorca with the support of On Foot Holidays. The route was absolutely beautiful, with stunning scenery, villages, food and landscapes. The hotel selections were wonderful with charming hosts, unique buildings and rooms, and great breakfasts to fuel us for the day ahead - we could not have planned it ourselves so successfully. If there were not so many other hikes on our bucket list, we would ...

This was our first multi-day hiking holiday and our first with On Foot, but already on the second day we were discussing where we could go next with On Foot. Everything worked like clockwork (and our standards are pretty high since we live in Switzerland and „clockwork“ has a certain implication!), so we could just enjoy the route, our hiking, the Spanish food and the spectacular scenery. The communication both before, during and after the holiday has been clear, personal and professional. Our expectations have certainly been exceeded. Many thanks.

Hiking La Gomera
Fabulous hiking holiday in the Canary Islands. Flew Bournemouth to Tenerife and then took a ferry to La Gomera. Spent 9 nights there in 4 different locations - On Foot holidays booked accommodation and moved our bags whilst we hiked.

Excellent Mallorca Self-Guided hiking company
We did a 10 day self-guide hiking trip in Mallorca. We would recommend this hike to anyone looking for a hiking trip. We went in April - good hiking temperatures and clear skies.

Walking in Unspoiled Islands of the Greek Archipelago
I have just finished two back to back walking holidays in three of the less visited Greek Islands, Andros, Naxos, and Amorgos. On each of the three islands we were based in a small town and the walks either took off from the towns directly or were accessed with a local taxi service, which allowed us to experience a diversity of walking venues, and I saw many remote places that I never would have been able to find on my own. On each of the three islands we were based in a small town and the walks either took off from the towns directly or were accessed with a local taxi service, which allowed us to experience a diversity of walking venues, and I saw many remote places that I never would have been able to find on my own. I consider myself most fortunate to have had the opportunity to experience the physical and cultural geography of these three islands which remain almost completely unadulterated by 21st century mass tourism.

Over the past ten years I have done similar walking trips with five other companies, and I consider On Foot to be in a class of its own. The plan of each of the walks I have taken with On Foot has been carefully thought out in conjunction with knowledgeable local people to take the best advantage of the physical and cultural resources of the area, and there has always been a local support person who has been genuinely committed to looking after walkers' needs. The people in the home office have been very conscientious about keeping track of clients' potential logistical problems, and I particularly appreciated their help in helping to unravel the mysteries of Greek ferry schedules.

Wonderful Dordogne
We had a lovely walk through the Dordogne region of France through OnFootHolidays. The walking had plenty of opportunities to stride out but also had some challenging areas. It turned out that April was a perfect time to walk as the temperatures were cool in the morning and the sun was warm in the afternoon. We saw incredible spring flowering trees, wildflowers, iris and wisteria.

Ideal combination
With 'On Foot' in the Dordogne. On Foot managed to combine impeccable organisation with friendly, personal contact. The accommodation had clearly been chosen with care, and with an eye not only to its appropriateness, but to the warmth of the welcome. The walking routes were well and clearly set out. First class.
