A seven-day hike through the Asturias section of the Camino Primitivo

I chose (since I had previously cycled the main Camino)to restrict myself to the Asturias section of the Primitivo - Oviedo (more precisely, Salas) to Lugo. I had read a journalistic account of this route some years ago, which stressed the physical challenge of the Primitivo. I approached the week with some trepidation given my age (72) but in fact it didn't prove particularly difficult. More important than the distances are the Cumulative Uphill Stretches; in effect, one is climbing a decent-sized hill and doing a long-distance walk. Bag transfer and pre-booked accommodation removes stress. I was entranced by the scenery and pastoral nature of the landscape; at one point I foun d myself virtually walking through a huge milking parlour!

My first contacts with On Foot were by phone and the fact that I was speaking to someone who had recently walked the route was very helpful. The company tailored the week to my requirements and the various arrangements (taxi transfers etc.) worked very satisfactorily. My one engagement with the local representative (over delayed bag transfer) proved highly effective.

We had two nights on Corfu which was beautifully mixed, with an afternoon in the town and a day walking in the hills and along the coast - lovely. Very helpful even when I changed the itinerary after we had booked; prompt replies and a totally well run and efficient trip. I appreciated the phone call just before we left home to check if we are alOK.

Beautiful towns and stunning views!
We hiked the Amalfi Coast from Amalfi to Sorrento with three other couples. The combination of great organizational skills from On Foot Holidays, beautiful towns, stunning views whilst hiking, comfortable hotels and an abundance of great restaurants to enjoy made for a magical week! Can’t recommend this company highly enough.

Best independent walking trip ever
Seven days walking in the Sabine Hills in Umbria, amidst medieval villages, old Roman villas, ancient olive groves, wild pigs, old churches, mountains, valleys and towns. Wonderful chance to explore a new place without the burdens of walking with a group or carrying luggage. Great route maps, wonderful and unique accomodations, perfect mix of outdoor activity, culture and great food.

Very well organized, responsive and reliable. OnFoot Holidays succeeded in arranging a trip for the two of us that felt as if we were amongst the few that had ever done it. All of the arrangements went off without a hitch and luggage was successfully transferred each day.

A wonderful walk in the Dolomites
My son and I enjoyed a five day walking holiday in the Dolomites. The walks were self-guided, but the maps and route details were excellent. Our accommodation was pre-booked, ranging from friendly bed and breakfasts and a mountain refuge, to a classy hotel at the finish. This was a great way to savour stunning mountain scenery and true Italian hospitality.

We booked a walking holiday in Italy with On Foot Holidays last year, so were very happy to book again this year. They did all the hard work behind the scenes (route planning and guidance, accommodation booking, baggage transfers etc.) leaving us to relax and enjoy the walking. They were particularly helpful in updating us prior to the walk on route changes caused by a landslide and flooding, while their local guide was always on hand to assist during the holiday.

Brilliantly organised, customisable, self guided walking holidays in beautiful and often less well trodden areas of Europe, with luggage transfers.
Based around walking routes they have meticulously planned, Onfootholidays offer flexible holidays for walkers. The routes take walkers from one night's accommodation (always of high standard, and often exceptional) to the next, with luggage transfers provided so there is no need carry all one's holiday clothes when walking. From the planning phase to returning home again, the office staff are very knowledgeable, tirelessly helpful, and will adapt itineraries and accommodation bookings to suit each walker's needs. Maps and route plans are provided, and there is always local backup a 'phone call away, but this is not an organised walking holiday in the usual sense. It's not guided, and is all the better for that. One makes one's own way from place to place, and such are the areas in which the walks are organised, one can walk all day and see very few other people. Perfect (for us at least).

Onfootholidays is a small enough operator to be able to provide a highly personalised service. All the staff are friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble.

The holiday was well organised by On Foot Holidays. They provided accurate and good reliable information including maps, mobile phone app with GPS and plenty of useful information about each place and about each part of the walk. Everything went to plan making it easy and enjoyable. Back-up and support was readily available through local contacts if needed. Accommodation and food was as expected.

Magical
We walked over 40 Miles...beside lakes and rivers, in the rain and in the sun, up and down mountains, through silver birch and chestnut forests, across meadows, beside ancient stone ruins, along old cobblestone pathways, over bridges, alongside cattle and sheep, through tiny villages and medieval towns, alongside vineyards and tomato gardens ...we walked and chatted with old men picking Porcini mushrooms, and a cattle herder, and waved to locals ...

We saw Italy in a way that you could only do by simply walking and being right in the midst of the nature, the culture, and the people...the entire experience was in a word...MAGICAL!
