Fantastic nature-filled day exploring wildflower meadows

I thoroughly enjoyed the day trip to Wyke Farm on the Somerset/Dorset border. The guide Tom was very knowledgeable on wildflowers, birds & butterflies in particular & left me feeling inspired to learn more. I was especially interested in how the former intensive farmland was being managed for conservation. It was a very relaxing day.. it was my first Naturetrek tour but won’t be my last!

Unidiscovered Iceland visiting areas I have not seen before

Tour was called "Undiscovered Iceland" and enabled me the opportunity to visit parts of Iceland I have not seen before in the East of Iceland. We had small groups with two guides who were knowledgeable and informative. I enjoyed seeing all the wildlife and enjoyed the scenery and the experiences. We enjoyed stays in good hotels so this holiday was a very special one.

I thought everything was very well organised from booking and making enquiries in the office, during my holiday and during my return trip home. The hotels were comfortable and well appointed, we had two great guides who had good knowledge.

A brilliant day out.

Tom Brereton is good communicator, amazingly knowledgeable and very familiar with the locality. In a very full day, gave us a lot of information about the principles of rewilding and introduced us to a range of flora and fauna we had not seen before, in our own county. The day well exceeded our expectations. Thank you, Tom.

Naturetrek are reliable and fair company. I have travelled with them for several years - latterly on day trips in Britain due to the pandemic.

A Variety of Interesting Experiences

We joined a small group of 8 people on a 5 day trip to the Orkneys with Naturetrek in May 2022. The focus was on birdwatching but also included visiting some of the prehistoric sites (Skara Brae, Ring of Brodgar, Broch of Gurness) as well as sites from WWII (Italian Chapel, Churchill Barriers). The focus was on birdwatching but also included visiting some of the prehistoric sites (Skara Brae, Ring of Brodgar, Broch of Gurness) as well as sites from WWII (Italian Chapel, Churchill Barriers). Despite very cold and windy weather, we had a wonderful time. Days started early with a 6am pre-breakfast birdwatching trip, a short break for breakfast then we were off again, out all day visiting various birding/other sites. We stopped at a local supermarket to stock up on lunch items so we could maximise our time exploring. Typically home around 5.30-6pm, just time for a quick shower then a review of our bird sightings and then dinner. We saw over 80 bird species and saw stunning cliffs full of nesting birds, beautiful beaches and the famous Scottish Primrose. We were also able to visit another of the Orkney Isles. Our guide was extremely knowledgable not just about wildlife but also the historical aspects of the Orkneys. He was also very knowledgable about life in Orkney. This was the perfect first trip for us after lockdown.

Rating for tour operator:

Naturetrek were extremely helpful with any queries, and assisted us with our travel arrangements to the Orkneys. All the information provided about the tour was very detailed and clear. The trip offered very good value for money. They acknowledged the feedback we provided following the trip.

Fascinating cultural and wildlife experience

There was also a very interesting excursion into Kosovo (most whose people regard themselves as Albanian anyway). There was a great deal of wildlife to be seen, and I was particularly interested in some of the bird species; the guides made a small excursion on the first day so I could see the European roller, which I'd seen before but which is one of Europe's most beautiful birds. Our two guides were both knowledgeable and helpful, and the company more generally was excellent. The only downside was at Heathrow Terminal 3, both going out and arriving home, where the service was lamentable.

Rating for tour operator:

This was the third attempt of the so-called MAD4 - Glyn Hammond, David Ouvry, John Plowman and myself, so-called because our first Naturetrek trip was to MADagascar(!) - to do this particular trip, the others having been cancelled because of the pandemic (or pandemonium, as I prefer to call it!) However, Naturetrek, despite one or two minor slip-ups were most helpful throughout. The guides, one local and one British, were excellent.
