Great group in a lovely location

Corsica is a stunningly beautiful island. We stayed in 2 delightful, basic, family run hotels in great locations. Food was plentiful and above average. I would have preferred more walking and less mini-van time and a greater emphasis on birds than plant life. I think it is difficult to encourage botanists to watch birds. A little too late in the season for the best bird activity

Great at coping with all the COVID postponements. Provided 2 very knowledgeable friendly leaders though both were botanists. Appreciated flying from Stanstead on Air Corsica.

An eye-opening exploration the rarely seen natural world of Albania

So we expect high quality guides and interesting itineraries. We were not disappointed. Our Albanian guide was well informed, amusing and helpful . Our Naturetrek guide was outstanding in his knowledge of the natural world and was never at a loss for a credible answer. We saw as planned Dalmatian Pelicans, Flamingos, not to mention such less well known birds as the Collared Pratincole. plus numerous butterflies, small reptiles and at at a distance Chamois. The flat midge infested salt pans of the south contrasted with the awe-inspiring peaks of the Alpine north reached via a drive through Kosovo. All in all a memorable experience

Our trip was postponed twice due to Covid but we hung on. We were generally well served throughout .

Exciting trip to the Spanish Pyrenees- wildcat encountered within hours of arrivng there!

I had a long awaited trip to the Spanish Pyrenees with Naturetrek. The booking had been rolled over twice from 2020 because of the Covid epidemic. The highlight of the trip was seeing Eurasian Wildcat on the first afternoon. We had spectacular views of this magnificant cat. The accommodation was lovely in Casa Sarasa which set against the backdrop of Berdun a picturesque town in the Aragon Region of Spain. There was fantastic scenery and wildlife-many birds and butterflies together with lots of wild flowers. It was a truly memorable trip- my first to mainland Spain.

Naturetrek run fantastic holidays for those who are interested in Wildlife and Nature. They are extremely knowledgeable and very efficient in terms of handling the bookings for their trips. The tour leaders and guides are excellent. This is my 5th trip with them.

Slovenia, bears caves and butterflies

We saw brown bears! That was the target and aim, so 10 out of 10 for that. Excellent, knowledgeable and enthusiastic guide, and comfortable accommodation but not a gastronomic delight! Food was as expected for the area.

Oland Island Sweden is an extraordinary and beautiful place.

I spent a week on Oland Island Sweden looking at botany and birds on ancient landscapes. Skies abundant with skylarks, always the sound of cuckoos calling, extraordinary fields of orchids. The limestone plateau is covered specialised plants clinging to the rocks, surprising lakes, so many swifts and swallows and martins. The limestone plateau is covered specialised plants clinging to the rocks, surprising lakes, so many swifts and swallows and martins. Cows and farmland, lighthouses, windmills, stunning skies and seas with seals close by. Great to visit the northernmost and southernmost points. Fantastic weather, lovely welcoming guesthouse, great leaders who generously shared both passion and knowledge. A joyful week. The locals show such respect for their environment no litter anywhere and clean air. A sense of freedom and peace all over the Island. This trip was fantastic for me as it was looking at all habitats, bio diversity, birds, mammals, forests, flora, sea and sky. The group shared an all round interest and our enjoyment was not limited to one species or experience unlike some other wildlife holidays where the group is obsessed with ticking off lists or finding one species of bird. Oland delivered so much beauty and it was a privilege to visit.

Rating for tour operator:

I have travelled with Nature Trek many time and the success of the holiday is, for me, dependent on the attitude and approach of the guides and to a lesser extent the members of the group. On this occasion both the local guide and the UK guide for were excellent, by far the best I have ever had. However on other Nature Trek tours I have not been so lucky. I have previously found some fellow passengers to be very serious on other tours, especially when it comes to finding one type of bird. I sometimes feel that Nature Trek forget this is a holiday as well as a wildlife experience. On this occasion this was not an issue, the local guide was keen to share all the Island with us not just one species and allow us ice cream stops along the way. Nature trek use good hotels and provide all meals meaning you don't waste time having to find places to eat. I have always found the hotels and food to be of good quality but bear in mind the holidays are not at the cheaper end of the spectrum. They are always helpful on the phone or by email. My advice to anyone booking a NatureTrek holiday who is not specialising their enthusiasms in one area, eg birds, is to look extremely carefully at the itineraries and phone for details, it is all about getting the type of trip that suits you.

A wonderful visit to a magic island in the Baltic,

The birds, flowers and landscapes of Oland far exceeded my expectations as did the organisation of the visit. We spent seven days in Sweden on an island in the Baltic. We stayed in a wonderful guesthouse within an easy walk of the coast. The food, accommodation and hospitality were first class. Our guides took us to parts of the island where their inside knowledge allowed us to see things that would have been impossible to know about otherwise.

One of the highlights included the view of the flamingo birds in the lagoon. Also the Chamois and its young in the Alpine region as well as the European green lizard and the variety of butterflies including the Osiris Blue. During the journeys, I got the chance to absorb the breath-taking layers of scenic views, e.g. the gigantic mountains and turquoise sea in one setting. Throughout the trip we stayed in traditional Albanian accommodation and enjoyed the local cuisine. Another highlight was the interaction with the Ghegs in the Albanian highlands including a spontaneous and humorous cultural exchange that took place in a bar. Also I got an insight into the history of Albania from the visit to Berat as well as through our very knowledgeable local guide. The holiday was appropriately rounded off by the boat trip across Lake Komani towards Koman where were entertained by a traditional musician playing his Lahuta and learned to do an Albanian dance.

Rating for tour operator:

He showed great leadership qualities in a subtle way. He was very professional and yet could interact with us effectively and was very sociable. He was calm and unassuming throughout. He was so knowledgeable about the birds, insects, reptiles, mammals and plants, etc. He showed an interest in each individual and was attentive to one's specific focus. He was very thorough and ensured that we got the opportunity to achieve our aim for each trip. He always brought his telescope on the trips and he always gave me the chance to view the wonders of nature through his instrument.

Secondary targets were the birds and we came away with a wonderful list including Hyacinth Macaws, a dazzling array of hummingbirds at a feeding station and difficult species to see like Agami Heron, Green-and-Rufous Kingfisher and Scissor-tailed Nightjars amongst many others. But the biggest surprise for me was the most spectacular Iguazu Falls - absolutely stunning.
