Expert led birdwatching & wildlife tour of Coto Donana and Extremadura regions of Spain.

First Class. 2 location tour led by outstandingly knowledgable experts for whom nothing was a problem. A well organised and thoughtfully implemented holiday delivering exactly "waht it said on the tin". First time with this company, but would definitely use again.

Surpassing expectations

My two days spent in the Forest of Dean were excellent in all ways, including the amount of wildlife seen and the care and attention of the wonderful guides who were most professional.

Everything it said on the "tin" (and more)

This was my first holiday with Naturetrek and it more than lived up to expectations. The leaders had an immense range of knowledge of natural history which they went out of their way to share with us yet at no time making us feel inadequate. Their knowledge of the area was excellent and invaluable from a botanist's point of view. And the picnic lunches they prepared each day were superb!

Could not fault Naturetrek, its efficiency and general organisation. We were provided with useful information, plant lists, suggested reading matter, etc in ample time prior to the departure date.

Fabulous Northern Lights and Killer Whales!

A great trip to Iceland to see the Northern Lights and Killer Whales. We were very lucky indeed with the weather - 2 clear nights when the Northern Lights were absolutely fantastic! Even I got some great photos - the leader showed me things on my camera that I never knew existed!! Plus we saw Killer Whales too and I even have some half decent photos of them too. Tips for anyone thinking of travelling to Iceland in winter - 1. its cold obviously so bring the warmest clothes you have. 2. Get the Yaktrax for your boots - we didn't but wished we had - its very slippy on the ice. 3. Go to the Blue Lagoon - brilliant even if a tad expensive @ £25.00 pp. 4. Keep your fingers crossed for good weather but there's not much you can do about that! 5. You will need a tripod for good shots of the Northern Lights.

Rating for tour operator:

Very well organised and the Tour Leader's (Malcolm Stott) "camera class" was a great idea. I had no idea my camera had all the settings it has and without this advice I would have had no decent shots of the Northern Lights. I would recommend Nature Trek and will travel with them again in future.

Well organized, well lead, extremely informative and enjoyable.

Birding and botanising in Sardinia with my parents (both in their 80's) - wonderful wild flowers and orchids, easy travelling and very knowledgeable leaders/guides. Accurately described as Level 1 trip, which was very important to the older members of the party and they were able to enjoy everything as much as we did.

Not necessary to have much contact with them as all arrangements made quickly & efficiently, and everything worked smoothly in the field.

Naturetrek to Crete to see wonderful spring flowers and birds

It was quite overwhelming and such a joy. The days were filled with excursions to remote locations, where our knowledgeable and friendly leaders took us to out-of-the-way places, where we could see remarkable and lovely plants and birds. The temperature difference between the mountains and the coast was surprising, and so we went from the chill of the uplands to the warm coast, where we enjoyed excellent meals in the evening.

Crete - Plants and Birds

A one week holiday focussing on the botany/plants of Crete and to a lesser extent birds, many of which pass through on migration north.Expert guides made this holiday very memorable and fulfilled all my expectations. We stayed at very comfortable smallish hotels and enjoyed great food. The holiday also took in a few of Crete's cultural highlights including a visit to Knossas.

Panama - Canopy Tower

I had a week at the Canopy Tower, mostly birding, but we also saw several mammals, reptiles and butterflies galore. A very unspoilt area with the Panama Canal in sight from the deck. We also had the opportunity to visit the museum at the Miraflores ...

A very unspoilt area with the Panama Canal in sight from the deck. We also had the opportunity to visit the museum at the Miraflores Lock on the Canal, which was very interesting. The guide we had throughout the holiday was Alexis Sanchez who proved to be an exceptional guide. Not only did he find numerous birds for us, but he knew all their calls and could even replicate them himself. I have never known a guide do this so successfully before. Not only did he find all the animals but he looked after our needs in the field, providing lunches and cold drinks which were essential in the hot weather we experienced, The food at the Tower was excellent and drinks were available throughout the day, free of charge. This was important to ensure we stayed hydrated! The staff were. All very friendly and the facilities were all very good, too. I have no complaints about this holiday whatsoever.

I always look forward to the Naturetrek brochure as the choice is really second to none. I have travelled with them several times and plan to travel with them again. They are efficient with their paperwork and they also provide a great deal of background information to help with planning for the holiday. I usually see some of the staff at the Rutland BirdFair annually and it is great to chat with the people manning the stand. They are very knowledgeable and very persuasive without pressure!

Birding bliss in Coto Donana & Extremadura

After long promising myself a trip to these two well-known Spanish birding spots I was delighted with my chosen holiday. The accommodation was well chosen & welcoming. The leaders, David & Simon, were knowledgeable & helpful. The birds came practically gift-wrapped thanks to the team's extensive knowledge of the terrain. Don't miss out.

Naturetrek Cote de Donana and Extramadura

A week in the marshes and estuary of the Donana in SW Spain and the plains of the Extramadura. !3 clients and 2 excellent guides. We spotted up to 150+ different species of bird, saw carpets of flowers and looked for the elusive Iberian Lynx- unsuccessfully. We had 2 mini-buses linked by radio and the experts could spot and eagle at long range - and then put a scope on it. Hotels were of the area as was the food, picnics at lunchtime. The whole ...

The whole trip was very well organised and led and the group dynamics were good. I would definitely consider a further Naturetrek holiday

Rating for tour operator:

We were prepared for the holiday with notes/ reports of previous trips; what birds we might see and notes about the area. There were comprehensive lists of recommended clothing and equipment as well. Any enquiries to Naturetrek were answered promptly and knowledgeably. All Naturetrek guides seem to be very expert and out two were no exception. Their knowledge and ability to know where to go and where to see things were the basis of the success of the trip.
