Natural Wonders in St. Lucia with Naturetrek
My mother and I had a wonderful week with Naturetrek in january 2016 in St. Lucia. The focus was on bird watching and our guide, Ed Drewitt, was a marvellous fountain of knowledge on birds and made every effort to help us see the amazing bird life that St. Lucia has to offer. Ed also taught us about fish, mammals, you name it! I appreciated the mix of exploring, relaxation, and real sense of being in an engaged and interested group...

And Ed went out his way to ensure we all had the best time we could, which included organising for my Mum and me to have a mud bath, which wasn't on the itinerary! I highly recommend St. Lucia, Ed, and Naturetrek! Thanks for a wonderful holiday.

Vintage birding and vintage champagne - a great holiday!
Naturetrek's 'Cranes & Champagne' trip was all I had hoped for: thousands of cranes flying in formation across ice-blue skies, woodpeckers calling in the forests, water birds in plenty on the lakes and on our "day off" from birding a visit to Champagne Drappier, nestling in beautiful countryside, where we were entertained royally and tasted some excellent cuvees (General de Gaulle was a customer and we followed in his footsteps!). The expert knowledge of our naturalist guides Gerald and Simon was impressive and they transported us to the best birding spots, so that our 'tick list' was full of birds seen and heard by the end of the trip. We stayed in three very comfortable hotels. The meals in the first of the three were of truly Michelin standard, earnng the chef a spontaneous round of applause from all of us! On our final day in Troyes we enjoyed a mornng tour of this photogenic and atmospheric city by a qualified local guide, whose accent was endearingly reminiscent of Catherine de Valois in Shakespeare's Henry V! Some of us chose to go back to the forest, less than an hour's drive from Troyes, in the afernoon for more birding, whch was made possible by our guide Gerald giving up his free time to take us there. We were rewarded by great sightings of a pair of black woodpeckers, which had been playing 'hard to get' on previous days! Our transit through Gare du Nord on the way home passed - thankfully - without incident and we arrived in St Pancras on time. I can thoroughly recommend this trip to a part of France I had never been to before and which has so much to offer.

We have travelled with Naturetrek 8 times so far. They are incredibly professional and the level of care and attention before and during any holiday is exemplary. The guides are unfailingly polite, patient, incredibly knowledgeable about wildlife and also their own country which really makes the holiday. The level of attention to detail and the care spent on the travellers welfare is second to none.

Big Cat Bonanza
We travelled with Naturetrek to Ranthampore Tiger Reserve, Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary and the Chambal River Reserve. We could not have hoped for better wildlife sightings: two tigers within touching distance; three leopards equally close; over 200 bird species and crocodiles and gharials too. The excitement of seeing three leopards together was heightened when we witnessed the larger male mating the female - a very rare sight indeed (never before ...

In addition our accommodation, food and travel arrangements were all great too! A holiday to rememeber for a very long time.

Five days spotting lynxes successfully along with other amazing wildlife. Unfortunately most in group were struck down with a bug which developed into pneumonia for my mum. He looked after the dock and made sure full itinary was followed for those well enough. All very professional, friendly and caring...

Honduras Bird Watching Trip
An interesting experience especially when it stopped raining, no wonder it is so green there. Our guides, Elmer and Olbin were excellent and adapted our itinerary to suit the weather. There is a good variety of birds as well other forms of wildlife. Our accommodation at the Lodge at Pico Bonito was good and the food and service were also good.

Birding bonanza at Pico Bonito
We enjoyed a 10 day bird watching trip based around Pico Bonito National Park in the rain forested heartlands of Honduras. Knowledgeable and friendly local guides took us on daily excursions exploring this little- known region, leading us on early morning walks and amazing boat trips that brought us stunning views of over 190 different types of birds, frogs, monkeys and snakes. The staff on the boat chartered by Naturetrek couldn't have been more friendly and helpful and the captain's skill in navigating our boat so close to the sea creatures we were watching made our experience very rewarding and enjoyable. The Naturetrek naturalist with us on the boat was endlessly patient with our questions, extremely knowledgeable, friendly and great fun. The same was true of the naturalist employed by the owners of the boat so we had 2 experts at the disposal of only 25 passengers.
