Springtime in Lesbos
A superb birdwatching and natural history holiday , in this wonderful Greek island which is widely acclaimed for viewing migrating birds, spring flowers and splendid scenery. Enjoyment was enhanced by a warm welcome from the local people and the expertise of an excellent tour leader.

Naturetrek offers a wide range of birdwatching and wildlife tours in UK and worldwide, with most tours supported by well qualified leaders (together with local guides as necessary). Tours have well designed itineraries and are good value for money. Customer service is also of a high standard.

Kazakhstan desert and mountains.
Some stunning landscapes and excellent birds were enjoyed. Great guides who were determined to share their special places with us.

Concerns about drunk driver disregarded
After my trip spain last year, I highlighted a concern about the possibility of one of our drivers being under the influence of alcohol while driving our group to see wolves. I was told that all drivers are fully qualified and indeed having advanced driving qualifications. When asked for these documents I was refused. I am very concerned about their cavalier attitude to safety. Please avoid.

Ignored requests to prove our drivers were safe and fully qualified.
When Mr Munro first returned from his Naturetrek Wolf-watching holiday in Spain, he posted a review on Naturetrek’s Facebook page on 22nd October 2015 (which he has since removed) which read ‘Just back from wolves and bustards in rural Spain. Easily the best holiday ever.’ Later, on 25th October 2015, he wrote to us to report that he suspected that one of the two naturalist-drivers (both of whom we have employed for many years to lead this popular tour) may have driven under the influence of alcohol - not the driver with whom he had travelled throughout the holiday, but the driver of the second vehicle in which Mr Munro did not travel. Further, Mr Munro confirmed that he had neither witnessed this driver drinking alcohol at any stage, nor had any other evidence that the driver had done so. Nonetheless we launched a full and thorough investigation, speaking at length to all of the other 13 clients who had travelled with Mr Munro on the same tour, and especially to those who had travelled throughout in the vehicle of the driver targeted in Mr Munro's report. Not one of them shared Mr Munro’s concern; indeed every other tour participant robustly and categorically denied that there was any evidence to support Mr Munro's suspicion. They were, at best, perplexed.
Having thus established that there was no evidence at all to support Mr Munro’s suspicion and advised him accordingly of this, Mr Munro chose to issue Naturetrek with a Subject Access Request under section 7 of the Data Protection Act in order to obtain copies of our guides’ papers and driving licences. This was considered an inappropriate use of the Act by the Information Commissioner's Office and the request was accordingly turned down.

A very well planned trip with great variation in locations, landscapes, wildlife and cultures.

Very good information provided and booking was straightforward and efficient. Our particular needs were dealt with in a very friendly, helpful and effective manner. The two tour guides were excellent and the travel arrangements and accommodation was just right.

Cuba birdwatching
Excellent guiding to see the best and unusual wildlife of Cuba specialising in the birdlife. We travelled to many different areas of the island and saw a lot of the countryside and differing habitats and more out of the way places.

I went to Shetland to see the wildlife but there was so much more to it than one aspect. The birds were spectacular, the scenery was stunning, the history was fascinating, the people were lovely, the food was excellent, our guide was so professional and even the weather was good. It was a well organised holiday and I was able to take a very elderly relative and be well looked after.

Naturetrek couldn't have been more helpful in helping to book the holiday and organise flights for us. They were happy to change plans so we didn't have to go by ferry. It was a well planned holiday so we got the best out of the islands and our guide was so knowledgeable about everything I felt I had a trip where I didn't miss a thing and really got the best out of the place.

A stimulating and satisfying guided tour of the flora of Wengen, in the wonderful heart of the Swiss alps.
Our tour was led by David Tattersfield, whose expertise and non-stop enthusiasm allowed us to see a wide range of floral delights. It was amazing how David could pick out a minute plant from a vegetated background. The locations varied from harsh glacial scree slope to steep gulley on a ridge, to saturated wall of a waterfall, to verdant meadow. It was amazing how David could pick out a minute plant from a vegetated background. The locations varied from harsh glacial scree slope to steep gulley on a ridge, to saturated wall of a waterfall, to verdant meadow. And all the time our leader was eager to respond to any query, no matter how dumb. We were able to see a very good range of endemic and rare/uncommon species. The backdrop of Eiger, Monch, and Jungfrau, was of course a continuing and stimulating delight . The excellent Berghaus hotel, their food, and Martina the lady of the hotel, certainly ensured a great holiday experience. A surprise, for me, was the very friendly attitude of all the Swiss people encountered. But above all the sight of David in sandals hopping over scree, and the beautiful alpine flower that that action produced, made the whole holiday superb.

Naturetrek were very easy to deal with. Fast in response to queries. Courteous and alert on the telephone. Information packages were good. Naturetrek pricing and tour packages were attractive and competitive. Their web information permitted an easy decision to join a trek. I would certainly consider going on other Naturetrek botanical tours, especially in view of the expertise of their tour leaders such as David Tattersfield.

Excellent choice for a guided tour of the flora of the Maritime Alps.
Since our group was small, we enjoyed direct and constant guidance from our tour leader ( Jessica Turner ). She showed her expertise in finding and identifying flora and in leading us to special places where we could see unique and often rare species. The Ancient King and the Snowden Lily were just two of many examples. We visited a well chosen range of locations, from roadside green spaces to alpine ridges, and each location was approached ...

The Ancient King and the Snowden Lily were just two of many examples. We visited a well chosen range of locations, from roadside green spaces to alpine ridges, and each location was approached with full appreciation for the capability of our group and the weather. This holiday has given me a definite desire to revisit the Maritime Alps ( in any case Italy in particular has long been very high on my favourite place to be list ), and also to join Naturetrek again. The hours of searching for a company to experience a botanical tour, paid off.

Naturetrek were a very good company to deal with. They responded fast to all queries and their representatives were always courteous and alert in telephone calls. Their pricing and tour locations compared very favourably with all competitors. The tour descriptions, pre tour information , and web information were also clear, and in fact enabled one to make a decision to join.

Nature walking in the French Pyrenees
A 1 week '30 year anniversary celebration' by Naturetrek 'where it all started off', with the whole hotel being taken over. Daily, varied, excursions to walk and observe the scenery and wild life. Quite outstanding on both counts, helped by the weather! After the one (mid day) spell of rain, a short afternoon tour - which matched any of the others - was substituted. Quite outstanding on both counts, helped by the weather! After the one (mid day) spell of rain, a short afternoon tour - which matched any of the others - was substituted. The secenery was quite stunning, and many good sightings of wild life of all sorts: some even from the hotel car park! In all one of Naturetrek's best, and I've been on lots.

Very, very well organised. I've been on many Naturetrek tours around the world, and this was surely one of the best. Everything happened as if it had been pre-planned,though strictly speaking we went to places and followed up whatever happened. The guides seemed to be able to spot and identify birds before I'd even seen them! Optional early morning tours well worth getting up (not too early)for! Always a helping hand for difficult parts of the walks, and optional routes according to one's own choice.
