My holiday was a trip to the Danube Delta in Romania from 23rd December to 28th December 2016. We stayed overnight in a hotel in Bucharest and the food and the beer were excellent and good value for money. Laurentiu Petrencu was the tour guide for the trip and his knowledge of the country and its history was first class as well his knowledge of the birds of Romania. I got five new species including the one I always wanted to see: Pallas's Gull which we got on the third day. We also got the target bird: Red-Breasted Goose in addition to: Pygmy Cormorant, Saker Falcon and Sombre Tit. On the last night, Laurentiu gave us an informative lecture on the Danube Delta which was interesting. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and I would like to thank Laurentiu and the other participants for making this a wonderful trip.

Xmas Bird-watching in Romania

A 5 night trip to the Danube Delta area over Christmas for bird-watching. It was my first trip to Eastern Europe and did not disappoint.

This was my fourth trip booked through Naturetrek and I have always been very impressed by them as a company. The catalogue, regular emailed newsletters and updates, and the website are excellent. Naturetrek staff are helpful and friendly on the phone, reply to emails promptly, and provide excellent information about the tour with a detailed itinerary, plenty of information about the practical side of the trip such as what to bring, hotels, currency etc, and excellent joining instructions. With everything from you travel arrangements onward organised by Naturetrek, it's just a case of pack your bags, catch your flight and enjoy your holiday.

Cyprus at Christmas

An excellent holiday with very knowledgeable guides. We visited a good variety of bird, flower and historic sites. Hotels were simple, friendly with tasty local food. An all round good 'escape from Christmas'.

Both on line and paper brochures are well produced and tell the full story with no hidden extras. They have a huge choice of 'nature' holidays from short European breaks to longer Worldwide trips. Friendly staff are on the end of the phone to assist and give advice. This is our forth holiday with Naturetrek and we have been impressed with the high standards of their guides and efficient travel arrangemants.

Excellent and knowledgable guides and plenty of interesting sightings

We spent two days in Coto Donana and two days in Sierra Morena looking for Iberian Lynx and other wildlife. Excellent guides helped with getting us to the right places and pointing out and identifying species. I had a bird list with over 80 species across the two destinations, together with a mammal list of 6 large mammal species including lynx. Hotels, travel and logistics were all excellent.

Brilliant 2 day break for those who love birdwatching

Although it was only a very short break the Naturetrek guides had planned it well and the group squeezed in a lot. We were lucky with the weather and the birds were quite obliging.

This was the first time we had used Naturetrek but the reports on them had been very good. Our experience reinforced that view and I would have no hesitation in recommending them.

This birding trip to Ghana gives the opportunity to see a lot of West African birds in a short space of time, with a very good guide.

This birdwatching trip to Ghana gives the chance to visit some of the best locations for birds in the south of the country, while staying in good accommodation. Yellow-headed Picathartes has to be the star attraction, but lots of other birds particular to the Upper Guinea rainforest are seen, with the help of a keen, local guide.

Birds and Botany on three Canary Islands

I spent a week in November with Naturetrek enjoying the warmth of the Canary Islands whilst seeking out such island endemics as the Tenerife Blue Chaffinch, the Tenerife Kinglet and both Bolle's pigeon and the white-tailed laurel pigeon in the laurel forests. The boat journey to La Gomera provided an opportunity to see short finned pilot whales and a Cuvier's beaked whale. A completely different experience was waiting for us on Fuertaventura ...

The boat journey to La Gomera provided an opportunity to see short finned pilot whales and a Cuvier's beaked whale. A completely different experience was waiting for us on Fuertaventura where it's southern plains yielded sightings which included Cream-Coloured Courser, Houbara Bustard, Black-bellied Sandgrouse, Dotterel, Trumpeter Finch, Southern Grey Shrike, Lesser Short-toed Lark, Egyptian Vulture the Fuertaventura Chat and surprisingly a Marabou Stork. A visit to a centrally located pool provided sightings of waders such as Black-winged Stilt, Snipe and Common Sandpiper. Monarch butterflies were a sheer delight to see and there was much botanical interest on the tour espeçially the endemics which our tour leader, Tony, knew exactly where to find! Can't wait for a return trip.

Everything was very well organised and the two leaders were knowledgeable about the wildlife we could possibly see. Nothing seemed too much for them and when on the first day we saw a spectacular starling roost we were offered the chance to return the following morning at dawn to watch the starlings leave their roost. It was a beautiful sunrise and a thrilling sight.

Good information and useful details were given before the holiday. Very helpful people on the phone answering queries and also a personal email when I asked about the amount of walking that would be involved during the break.
