Botswana desert and delta mobile camping holiday

We did add an extension to the trip so that we could holiday in two game lodges at the end of our mobile camping trip and extend the experience. We had at least half a dozen new experiences over the many we have had previously on safari in Africa, India and other similar wildlife countries including a wild dog chase and kill, new animals and being woken by predators outside the tent. The whole experience was excellent, the guides were at the top of their game, food and accommodation good at all locations. We would definitely recommend this holiday.

We have used Naturetrek on many occasions for our wildlife trips and always found them to be excellent from providing initial information through to providing the holiday experience. We would recommend them for the type of holiday they provide.

It was fantastic from start to finish.
I travelled to Selous & Ruaha in Southern Tanzania staying 4 nights in each location. I was particularly excited about seeing wild dog 3 days out of 4 in Selous as I have never seen them in the wild before. The other passengers were great as was the tour guide and the local guides. We saw leopard, cheetah, lion. buffalo and loads of elephant. I really couldn't have asked for a better trip.

Excellent tailor made Zambian Foot Safari in South Luwangwa NP
Very well organised 12 day tented safari in South Luwangwa NP. Norman Carr Safari camps (4 of the 5 we visited) were truly excellent. However Kafunta Safaris permanent camp was well run and also very good. Wildlife viewing was outstanding thanks to the very experienced guides. One day we saw seven different leopards, one hauling a kill up into a tree etc. In addition lion sightings were very good indeed. Exceptional, was coming upon a pack ...

Other wildlife viewing was way above average. Food, drinks and service were all to a high standard. Suffice to say my wife thought it the second best holiday of her life! Only bettered by a similar Safari in the Okavango Delta, her first such holiday on 1999.

Naturetrek organised this holiday on a tailor made basis for just the two of us. Everything worked like clockwork. Land agents and safari companies’ staff and services were all excellent. This is the 15Th plus time I have used Naturetrek. Which is surely testimony enough.

My holiday, Alpine Flowers of the Swiss Alps, was a perfect botanical experience.
Every aspect of my holiday was perfect;from the moment the plane took off from Heathrow Airport until the end of the holiday. This was an 8-day holiday appreciating the wonderful alpine flora, birds and butterflies of the Bernese Oberland, based in the idyllic Swiss village of Wengen. The group size was about 15 with varying degrees of botanical knowledge. Each day comprised day walks between 915 and 2,280 metres. Accents were mainly by cable-car! ...

The group size was about 15 with varying degrees of botanical knowledge. Each day comprised day walks between 915 and 2,280 metres. Accents were mainly by cable-car! So no worries there! The scenery was breathtaking. Each day was punctuated by a delicious picnic lunch provided by our inventive guide. Each lunch spot chosen for the view, from mountain meadows to dramatic mountain landscapes. Our guide's knowledge of mountain flowers was outstanding. He shared his love of and respect for mountain flowers, birds and butterflies freely. A delicious meal was served at the hotel each evening. After which, there was time to talk about the plants we had seen during the day, before a great night's sleep and hearty breakfast to begin the next day's adventure. Brilliant!

The tour operator Naturetrek have got it right. The tour operators are approachable, organised and efficient. The pre-holiday information is first rate. This includes booking conditions, travel details, insurance, medical, passport and safety information as well as joining instructions. The clothing and equipment list was brilliant and ensured our comfort in all weathers from sunshine to snow! However, stupidly, I forgot to pack gloves but an extra pair of socks doubles up as gloves when it snows! Additionally, the daily holiday itinerary and plant checklist were so comprehensive. The previous tour reports also made interesting reading. The tour operator road show prior to the holiday was well worth attending and added to my anticipation of the holiday.

Red Deer Rampant
This was a holiday to watch the red deer rut, and we had plenty of opportunity to get up close to see the action. We even had a stag and his hinds outside our bedroom, roaring each night at 3.30 a.m. We also saw seals, eagles, red squirrels and an otter. The tour leader knew the area well, so took us to the best spots for viewing. The accommodation, though basic, was warm and comfortable, and the food appropriate for the type of holiday, i.e...

2017- Sicily in Autumn
Our two guides were excellent. They were well informed and knew the region of southwest Sicily very well. We discovered over 120 different species of native or migrating birds and waders, including flamingos and spoonbills – in addition to a wide range of butterflies – during five visits to coastal and upland reserves. Hoopoe, various warblers, and Scops owl were common around our accommodation, and an impressive collection of moths was caught ...

We discovered over 120 different species of native or migrating birds and waders, including flamingos and spoonbills – in addition to a wide range of butterflies – during five visits to coastal and upland reserves. Hoopoe, various warblers, and Scops owl were common around our accommodation, and an impressive collection of moths was caught in the trap each night. The food and wine were typical Italian and very good. Nearby Ortygia was fascinating and the walk around the higher slopes of Mont Etna was spectacular. The group were like-minded and sociable, so the week was easy-going and good fun.
Rating for tour operator:

Everything was organised very well and all-inclusive, from our departure from the UK to our return. Transfers, accommodation, food and wine, transport between sites and a special evening meal with the Baron at the Palazzo di Ortygia all ran very smoothly. More importantly, the two guides were well selected and made the holiday particularly enjoyable.
