Wonderful way to experience New Zealand
We travelled through both North and South Island in a small group. We had wonderful views of the scenery off the usual routes. The wildlife refuges we visited gave us excellent views of the native flora and fauna. The wildlife refuges we visited gave us excellent views of the native flora and fauna. The highlights of the trip were the 3 Kiwi excursions, the first after several hours of searching resulted in hearing the calls but no sightings, however, we were extremely lucky to be awoken in the early hours by a call outside our cabin and were luck enough to see the Kiwi for a few minutes. The other two trips both resulted in up close encounters with two Kiwi's on each. Although we travelled over 4,000km in our 18 days it certainly did not seem that far and all the group, including the driver/guide, gelled from the start and this made every day an adventure.

The perfect trip
Having never travelled outside of Europe before, I booked a trip to Kenya with Naturetrek. Despite lots of worries and fears beforehand, I really had the time of my life. We stayed in three locations in total; all of which were very comfortable and welcoming. Everywhere we went, the food was amazing and the staff even catered for me - a non vegetable eater which was above and beyond the call of duty! Being able to get close to the Baboons and Colobus Monkeys at Elsamere was one of many highlights. There were lots of optional nature walks with highly knowlegeable and friendly guides. When we reached the Masai Mara, we were not disappointed. We were very lucky to see such a wide variety of animals, including two leopards. Our two guides were amazing at spotting things and knowing exact where to go. Another highlight was two pairs of dung beetles - busily pushing their dung down the road and then burying it in the ground. Fascinating! The group of people I was with have become really good friends as we all got on so well. The holiday certainly delivered everything it promised and more. I still think about this trip weeks later - it certainly was a holiday of lifetime and I've caught the travel bug!

Everything was made simple from the offset. Naturetrek sent us all the information we needed and were happy to answer the million questions and concerns that I had before I booked. The people that I spoke to on the phone were always cheerful, friendly and helpful. Credit should also be given to Chameleon Tours over in Kenya. The guides they provided, Peter and Davis, were incredible. We were like one big family and they certainly played a huge part in making the trip the success it was. I have already recommended this trip and Naturetrek to many of my friends and I would certainly look to them first when choosing another holiday.

Beautiful and stimulating
Well structured trip with excellent local driver guides and very good Naturetrek leader. Namibia was beautiful, spacious and friendly. Great birds and wildlife but also an excellent museum in Swakopmund, evidence of first Portuguese discovery and marvellous rock art. Food and drink varied from okay to great. Accommodation the same with Damaraland a serious highlight. Every day offered something special.

Naturetrek have solid experience of running this trip in Namibia and had made some necessary adjustments which worked well and ensured value for money and a balanced/varied trip.On the ground they had a very good partnership with local operator Wilderness safaris. My personal (history and cultural) interests were respected and accommodated without fuss. Handled a varied group with ease.

One base safari in South Luangwa National Park, Zambia
It fulfilled all my dreams. Kafunta Lodge where we stayed, could no have been bettered. The care of the guests never faltered and there were wonderful touches, such as a "sundowner" break in the evening safari where we all quaffed gin and tonics and nibbled tasty snacks while looking at amazing views. We ate in different dining areas in the lodge, and once in a treetop dining room - superb. The guides could not have been more delightful and ...

We ate in different dining areas in the lodge, and once in a treetop dining room - superb. The guides could not have been more delightful and knowledgeable and I saw all the animals I had hoped to see. How they spotted some of the smaller ones I shall never know. The food at the lodge (breakfast, lunch, tea and dinner!!)was of a high standard and the chefs were happy to provide vegetarian or gluten free options. The manageress (Lisa) was always hand and the little touches, like flannels to wipe our sticky hands on return from a safari are most welcome. Not to be faulted

Everything was arranged smoothly and we received plenty of information about the upcoming holiday. My one very small caveat was that it was difficult get a visa online and it might have been better if the travel company undertook this chore on behalf of its guests.

Fantastic wildlife experience including a very rare sighting of a wild tiger.
This was our first time with Naturetrek, and we will certainly use them again. The organisation of the trip and their advice and attention to detail was superb from the initial enquiry onwards . The quality of the naturalists was outstanding, which was one of the reasons for going with this company.

Naturetrek specialise in wildlife holidays and are very good at showing you the goods. The only negative I would find is that the lack of a representative at the UK airports is a little concerning- we arn't all great on Modern phones or internet
