Birdwatching in Southern Morocco
We visited a great variety of locations across Southern Morocco ranging from snowy mountain passes in the Atlas mountains, sand dunes on the edge of the Sahara desert and the Atlantic coast with huge awe-inspiring waves. We saw many of the birds characteristic of those areas including the rare bald ibis, sandgrouse in the desert sheltering from a sandstorm as well as more widespread Moroccan species such as bulbul, house bunting and the African ...

Naturetrek ensured we had both varied and comfortable accommodation and our tour leader was both experienced and very knowledgable. We also had a local guide who was informative about local history and custom as well natural history

Unusual and Interesting
We travelled to India with Naturetrek in December 2017, staying at the wonderful Reni Pani Jungle a short drive from Satpura national park. Each day we would rise early and bundle up against the pre-dawn chill and drive about 30 minutes to the national park entrance. The park is very special in that it allows only 12 safari vehicles in each day. We would spend a couple of hours on a game driving stopping for a delicious picnic breakfast at ...

The park is very special in that it allows only 12 safari vehicles in each day. We would spend a couple of hours on a game driving stopping for a delicious picnic breakfast at a ranger station. The Reni Pani Jungle Lodge was a delight to stay in. The staff were very welcoming and passionate about wildlife and their surroundings. Our cottage overlooked a seasonal nulla (stream) and we were able to view Sambhar deer from our verandah. The food was superb and each evening we would gather around the fire in the lounge for pre-dinner drinks and to talk about the day and what tomorrow would hold. Another very enjoyable holiday from Naturetrek (we have travelled with the company at least 7 times).

We have travelled with Naturetrek on many occasions on varied and interesting wildlife focused holidays. The range of destinations the operator travels to is very diverse and we have always had great and quick service. Highly recommended.

Puma tracking in Chile
Long way to go but close encounters with pumas feeding at a kill, two near adults playing in the rocks, one chasing a grey fox (the fox was too agile), following one as it set off on it's evening prowl, and two, albeit distant, young cubs playing around and on their mother made it very worthwhile. That's not to mention the stunning scenery and the nice supporting cast of other wildlife, condors circling low over another kill perhaps the pick ...

Naturetrek effectively sub-contract the local arrangements to Far South Expeditions. The flights to Chile suffered some delays (c90mins) but never enough to threaten our connections. Otherwise all went smoothly, one or two things in Naturetrek's literature need updating but these did not significantly impact on our enjoyment of the holiday. The local arrangements generally worked well although inevitably in a group of eight there was a range of views about how much time should be spent in the field and how much walking should be done.

Perfect
Naturetrek were quite superb in organisation of the trip. Good hotels and food and brilliant ground arrangements.

‘Just Pumas’ - and so much more!
A very special holiday searching for pumas in Chilean Patagonia in the stunning surroundings of Torres del Paine National Park! Not only were we able to observe 20 cats (only one of which we believe to be a double sighting) but we also saw an abundance of other wildlife, both mammals and birds. We had an excellent local guide, a careful and considerate driver, and a local tracker able to talk knowledgeably about the cats he showed us.

A Special Little Bird in the Colourful Caribbean
Special for me in the first sighting of a Tody and my first visit to the exotic island of Jamaica. My husband had always had a desire to visit Jamaica the birth place of Bob Marley, since he loves the music, so it was an exciting trip for both of us. We enjoyed the vibrancy, the flowers, the birds and the people who are so relaxed about life. Our Jamaican birding guides were entertaining and excellent at their task, the food was enjoyable ...

We enjoyed the vibrancy, the flowers, the birds and the people who are so relaxed about life. Our Jamaican birding guides were entertaining and excellent at their task, the food was enjoyable and the accommodation just fine for us. I think this was our kind of holiday, if only the weather had been a little bit kinder.

We have travelled with Naturetrek before and have found them to be reliably good. The guiding is excellent and their determination to produce the best sightings wherever possible is always priority. With holiday prices soaring you aim for value for money, good food and comfortable accommodation. With Naturetrek we feel the balance is right for us.

An excellent winter birding tour in Extremadura, Spain
This tour was described by Naturetrek as Extremadura in Winter. But although it was a winter tour we actually had really good weather, sunshine and up to 18 C every day and no rain. We stayed six nights in the delightful rural hotel Viña las Torres just south of Trujillo, which was about three hours from Madrid. The accommodation was excellent with large, comfortable rooms and lovely home cooked food. There were five people in our group with one Naturetrek guide, Byron Palacios, and every day we went out in a minibus to various locations looking for birds. The list of birds we saw was very extensive, the highlights being the Griffon, Cinereous and Egyptian Vultures and the Great and Little Bustards, with such other interesting species as Great Spotted Cuckoo, Bonneli's Eagle, Spanish Imperial Eagle, Bluethroat, Penduline Tit and Pin-tailed- and Black Sandgrouse. We went to a variety of sites within at most half- to three-quarters of an hour away, including the Monfragüe National Park. We had a picnic lunch every day. It was a thoroughly enjoyable and informative trip, made especially so by the excellent bird finding and identification skills of our guide Byron.
Rating for tour operator:

Naturetrek was very efficient in organising the tour, everything including flight, transfer and hotel was very well organised. Especially our guide, Byron Palacios, was very informative and had impressive bird finding and identification skills. Being a small group made for a much more relaxed and informative tour.

Colourful Colombia !

Birdwatching in Ecuador
Great! It was a birdwatching holiday, so we were going to see birds and we did see birds! Lots of them in spite of several days of rain. Well what do you wxpect when you are in a rainforest? It was well laid out so we could visit various places where special birds were. It would have been difficult to find them on your own or to cover all the areas we did. It was hard work, up at or before dawn and back after dark. But that is the time when ...

It was well laid out so we could visit various places where special birds were. It would have been difficult to find them on your own or to cover all the areas we did. It was hard work, up at or before dawn and back after dark. But that is the time when birds are up and about. We were informed that we had to be reasonably fit as it was a lot of walking and often on uneven ground. It was all that but the guides made sure we all coped and some of us took it a bit slower than others. The good thing with birdwatching is that you have to stop a lot to watch the birds and that was enough to give us time to catch up. We stayed in very nice lodges, clean and safe, and we had lots of lovely, local homecooked food

Naturetrek do take good care of their customers. We have had a few hickups on our travels but they have always been seen to very well. In Nepal some years ago the Maoists caused trouble and no cars were allowed, no problems we were collected at the airport by horse and cart. As we could not go east as planned we stayed in Kathmandu and our guide Tika Ram Giri kept us very busy birdwatching there. Another trip in Ecuador saw us on the roadside with our luggage but no bus. Some political reson. We waited and got a bit tense. Then two of the guides disappeared down the road and Edwardo said Lets go birdwatching. Within minutes we saw a family of Hoatsin in a tree by the road! Whohaa! Who cares about a missing bus? We got one later ,it was the local bus that our guide had hijacked and with a mighty squeeze we all got in and away. I trust Naturetrek to sort out any problem ,small or big without any problenms for the customers.
