some fabulous wildlife, great photo opportunities and enjoyed Japanese culture and food

wild japan in winter with extension to Kyushu. Lived up to expectations but tour leader had never previously visited Japan so certainly saw less wildlife than similar tours run by other companies with more experienced leaders - could have managed without the tour leader form UK, just using local guide/interpreter

used them several times before, give good pre-tour information, generally fair value for money, although they sometimes slip in extra costs to keep headline price down. Itineraries to my liking, and they offer a very wide range of wildlife tours

A birders paradise

Focus of this trip for me was to see the harpy eagle, something I have longed to see. Thanks to a brilliant guide this mission was accomplished against all the odds with the rains coming early and the road to the forest very difficult. Although not a ‘birder’ I was enthralled at the beauty of the canopy camp and all the wildlife it had to offer.. So many bird species, it was, indeed a trip to remember.

Fabulous week in Extremadura

7 days bird watching in the beautiful Extremadura region of Spain. Each day was varied with trips to the plains and their amazing wild flower meadows plus riverside and mountain areas. Guides were excellent with great knowledge of the area and the wildlife. We stayed just outside the beautiful medieval town of Trujillo and received excellent hospitality.

Superb care and attention at all stages. Guides are tremendously knowledgeable and want all participants to see everything. The level of care and attention to detail is exemplary.

More birds than you can shake a stick at

I wanted to see a new country and also see a number of European birds not previously seen. It was hard work birdwatching from 7 am to nightfall for over a week, but the mission was accomplished. The group saw over 200 species of birds and we got an understanding of the geography of Bulgaria. There was no time to get get to grips with the history or cities of the country, and it was all pretty intense, but birdwatchers and photographers came ...

A trip into a wonderful natural world

This was our first 'Bird Watching' holiday, until now we had been bird watching whilst on holiday and we were delighted with every aspect of the holiday. Out trip leader Paul Tucker from North Bucks RSPB was brilliant, but even his wide knowledge was surpassed by Oliwier our local guide. His knowledge habitats and knowledge of exactly where to take us to view particular species was exceptional. There were highlights everyday, to be taken to a particular tree in 100 sq. miles of forest to find a Pygmy Owl unbelievable. We loved every minute and have already booked our next holiday. Hotels, food, transport were all first class. We cannot recommend Naturetrek too highly.

Rating for tour operator:

Every detail of the holiday was seamless, flights transport hotels, we could not fault. The attention to detail with pre-holiday information and birding checklists superb. It was great to be giving reports of prior trips also helped cement to 'group' with wishlists for species sorted before we left. Excellent service from start to finish.

I have travelled with Naturetrek a good few times now and have never had a bad experience or encountered any major issues on my travels. The Company seem to take great pains to ensure that the local agents know what is expected of The to maintain the Companies high standards and are knowledgeable and competent in managing small groups.

Go Slow... in Extremadura by Bungay, 1 Jun 2018

Amazing

Go Slow in Extremadura was based at a friendly, family-run hotel near Trujillo, led by 2 very clued-up guys, one English, one Spanish. I logged over 20 new species and the number and variety of raptors was phenomenal - 15 species, with spectacular views of nesting Egyptian and griffon vultures and Spanish imperial eagle. We also had great views of roller, bee-eater, hoopoe, bustarts and many more (over 100 bird species in all). All this in ...

All this in warm Spanish sunshine, with a group of very friendly people, flower-covered steppes, a variety of butterflies, reptiles and mammals also "thrown in"..

Naturetrek were helpful and efficient from start to finish. I chose their offer of this kind of leisurely week's birding etc. hoping that it would fit my needs (80 year-old frame with two new hip joints!) It worked a treat.

Naturetrek are very efficient at organising wildlife tours and find excellent guides to accompany the group, visiting sites that are clearly well planned in advance to see as much wildlife as possible.
