The Swiss Alps

I liked the holiday mainly because it was a one center stay. Also we used the local transport - Cog train and cable car etc. It was nice not to be traveling in a mini bus

Naturetrek walking and observing nature:i.e birds, buttterflies and plants.

This Naturetrek holiday was an introduction , for me, to the Spanish Pyrenees. The flight was met by our Local Spanish Guide and we were accompanied by the tour guide from London. The family run hotel was delightful and we travelled in two new minibuses, driven by our guides. We had a good living room to hold meetings in and a friendly atmosphere was immediately established with all guests adding to the knowledge of the guides. As a beginner, I really appreciated the immense amount of knowledge that was available. As a single traveller, I enjoyed the communal meals and made some good friends.

Rating for tour operator:

Naturetrek operated this tour and all our needs were taken care of. We were booked on to the flight together and our two guides drove the vans for each days outing. In addition, we were provided with a very good lunch each day, that the guides prepared for us. I did not need to spend any money at all on the holiday, except when Ryan air failed to show up on the way home. Although we had to find a hotel, and new flights home, we were in a group and guided by our leader. He paid for our flights home, much to our relief. Once home, my insurance paid up immediately and all was well.

Wonderful wildlife experience.

We had an excellent tour leader who went out of his way to ensure everyone was able to see everything that we hoped for. He went beyond the call of duty, going out in all weathers, some very cold and windy, to try to spot otters with us, and we succeeded. I was able to see otters swimming, eating, playing, and then exploring on the beach. A magical experience. Loved it all.

Everything ran smoothly and according to plan. Naturetrek were efficient, helpful, and were exactly as I would hope a tour operator to be. I have had a few dismal experiences in the past with a competitor company, but am completely impressed with Naturetrek. Will definitely use them again and think they give excellent value.

Stunning Scenary

It was a very good holiday in all aspects. The scenery was stunning, I had never been to this region of France before. The landscape was predominantly limestone, which presented itself in weathered peaks, steep sided gorge and cliffs. It was good to be based in one location rather than moving on every other day. The main purpose of the trip was to look at Butterfly's and Moths of the Vercors.

Yokshire coast and moors. Observation and study of birds and other wildlife.

The area covered a wide range of different habitats from the coastal cliffs of Bemton and Flamborough Head to the interesting and varied North York Moors. I was very fortunate to be part of a group who had between them a whole range of relevant knowledge. We were led by an extremely competent leader with an amazing wealth of knowledge. It would have been difficult to fit more into our available time.

This holiday was a present from my family so I had no knowledge of costs and organisation. All I can say is that as far as I was concerned it worked extremely well. The few questions I had were answered in a friendly and courteous manner. Decisions on specific details of itinerary and locations were reached democratically, no mean feat for such a diverse group.. It certainly helped to make the trip so enjoyable.

Flowers of the Higher Alps, Switzerland

A walking and botany tour of the Upper Engadine valley in Switzerland with the most assured and knowledgeable leadership, great hotel and unbelievably superb scenery. The tour included travel on the UNESCO World Heritage Bernina Glacier Express and all the numerous cable cars, buses and gondolas travelled on during the week. Great value for money and we fully intend to travel with Naturetrek again soon.

Switzerland - Alpine Flowers of the Engadine

We were led by a very able botanist - David Tattersfield - whose encyclopaedic knowledge enabled us to learn so much about the flora of the Engadine. For instance he showed us the difference between flowers on acid and alkaline soils. We visited 5 valleys in the Pontresina valley and two near St Moritz.

Naturetrek supplied us with much very useful information prior to our visit including a detailed report of a previous tour to the Engadine including full lists of flowers, birds, butterflies, animals, etc., Their staff at the office of the company were also very helpful in dealing with our queries.

A unique tour of the beautiful Balkan flora, with expert Naturetrek botanists

A thoroughly satisfying exposure to the beautiful flora of the Balkans. Very well organised in all aspects such as travel, lodging, and food, with expert botanist leaders, Andrew Cleave and Vlado. Their patience and competence allowed us to see a full range of flora, including rare species, normally not seen by non professionals.
