Great Time with Nice Folks

Apart from a very early flight time to Spain it was a lovely holiday with a good leader, nice bunch of folk and good hotels and venues. The organisation by Naturetrek was excellent.

Puglia in Spring

My first visit to Italy. We stayed in very comfortable hotels and had 2 very efficient tour guides who saw to everything. All we had to do was be where they told us to be ! We visited some lovely areas and really got a feel for that part of Italy.

Coto Donana & Extramadura are a birder's paradise

We flew to Seville and spent 4 nights based in El Rocio, a deserted "Wild West" town with sand streets, situated alongside a lagoon. We spent the days in different locations in the Coto Donana. We saw hundreds of Glossy Ibis, Flamingoes and Spoonbills as well as many smaller waders and passerines. Then we were driven north to the Extramadura where we spent 4 nights near Trujillo, a historic town with battlements. In the days we visited different habitats, e.g. plains, woodland and gorges. Here we were lucky enough to see the Great Bustard displaying, hoopoes, bee-eaters, eagles and hundreds of vultures. We also saw a great variety of butterflies and moths, a few early orchids and several species of oak tree which we don’t see in the UK. The countryside we drove through was beautiful and peaceful. The hotels we stayed in were small but delightful. Our leaders were full of enthusiasm and did their best to ensure everyone saw everything. They were hugely knowledgeable; had a good sense of humour; provided us with superb picnic lunches and spoke Spanish fluently. We flew home from Madrid tired but having had a truly wonderful experience.

I was booked on the trip as part of a group and all the arrangements went well.

Spring migration over the Straits

We went to an eco lodge near Tarifa in Southern Spain to see the spring bird migration. Every day was different, it depended a lot on the wind direction and strength as to where the birds would cross and the tour guides were experts at finding the right place to be. We saw over 100 species as well as interesting butterflies and flowering plants and trees. The accommodation was located in a wooded area which was also full of smaller birds and ...

We went with Naturetrek and they were excellent throughout, from booking to the actual holiday. The 2 guides were especially good, very knowledgeable and pleasant to be with, they really made the holiday one to remember.

Suffolk in Spring - a weekend’s birdwatching

The weather wasn’t great (strong winds and quite a bit if rain) but the tour leader rearranged our itinerary day by day to keep us out of the worst of it, while still finding us great opportunities for birdwatching. The hotel was very nice and the food was excellent. They had an additional vegan menu, which was so good, some of the others in our group chose to order from it. Good company, great food, beautiful landscapes and some fantastic birds...

Naturetrek specialise in wildlife holidays, offering hundreds of different destinations to see all kinds of wildlife. I’ve been with them on long holidays around the world, both organised tours and tailormade trips, as well as short breaks in the UK like this one, and all their holidays are well-organised with great itineraries at a reasonable price. Their staff, both in the office and on tour, are friendly and knowledgeable.

Rating for tour operator:

We have taken twelve holidays with Naturetrek, all of which have been excellent. The company uses first class guides and accommodation and can be relied on to take good care of it's clients in the event of unforeseen problems, in our case the cancellation of flights by an airline with financial difficulties.

Brilliant tiger and other wildlife escorted tour in India, with Naturetrek.

Tiger Marathon, in India, visiting five different National Parks. An escorted tour, with brilliant tour leader, and fantastic wildlife viewing. Mainly staying in wildlife lodges, which were very good. Small group tour, all food included. Main focus was tigers, but not excluding all other animals and birds along the way.

Naturetrek - I have been on several holidays with them, and have always found them excellent. The wildlife tours are well organised and comprehensive, usually with all food included.

Estonia in Early Spring

It was a birding trip in the early spring. It was cold and crisp and for much of the time clear blue sky.
