Dragonflies and Birds of the Camargue

A wildlife holiday in France expertly lead by two very capable and personable tour leaders. Saw lots of interesting birds and dragonflies and enjoyed excellent home-cooked meals at our hotel. Nothing was too much trouble for our guides or our hosts at the hotel. When our tour bus broke down our leaders dealt with the problem quickly and professionally despite the intense heat wave. They were also more than happy to accommodate me when I requested additional moth trapping sessions which allowed me to see many species I otherwise wouldn't have had the chance to see.

Naturetrek were a pleasure to deal with. This is my 5th holiday with them and their staff are always helpful, efficient and pleasant. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they are always knowledgeable when it comes to queries about travel arrangements, the destination or the wildlife. Their pre-departure information makes planning and choosing what to pack much easier. They will always be my first choice when it comes to wildlife holidays.

Fascinating opportunity to see a wide variety of Sweden’s birdlife

A week’s tour of various birding sites in Central and Northern Sweden. We enjoyed seeing species that are very hard to see without the benefit of a good guide - especially owls and the breeding birds of the uplands.

Have used Naturetrek on many occasions. They put together interesting itineraries and use very knowledgeable guides - including excellent local guides who really know their patch. Hotels are generally rustic but very comfortable and offering good, local food. All food and travel is included which means holiday can be more easily budgeted for in advance.

We were kept comfortable by warm base and excursions kept to a limited time. we were encouraged to be active according to each ones ability

Our ship was operated in a professional manor by agreement of the captain, expedition leader and our tour operator leader. We managed to visit some extremes of ice but the ship was skilfully navigated to keep our schedule and passengers safe. We managed to see lots of wildlife by plenty of excursions

Flowers and even more flowers!

Our guide, David Tattersfield, is fantastic. We could ask for the plant names again and again and he never once let us know that we ought to remember them by now. Also, he never showed any irritation whatsoever even for the most silly questions like "will it rain today?". Admirable, really! Coming from Sweden and not knowing the English names of plants he kindly gave the scientific ones. He also very skillfully explained the differences between ...

The staff at Naturtrek were most helpful. We had to arrange our own trip to and from the meeting point but they were letting us know the times well ahead so we could plan properly.

Professionally led tour covering a wide area of flora and fauna.

The Valais region of Switzerland has the most stunning scenery, including from our lovely family run hotel in Bettmeralp. The service provided by the efficient Swiss rail network and cable car/ski lifts was first class. The aim of the tour was to visit the area near and far from Bettmeralp to observe the spring flowering alpine meadows and take note of any passing bird and butterfly life around. There were opportunities to see several mammals that are present in this area and have expert leaders on hand to guide us to all places of interest and impart their knowledge on aspects of bird, flower, etc., identification. Early morning bird walks were undertaken from the hotel to see and hear the abundant birdlife nearby in the forest.

Naturetrek have been a real find for us as we have done self-guided tours before but without such knowledgeable leaders you miss so much. Being taken to prime locations to see wildlife and have positive identifications of species has opened our eyes and made us wish we had been with Naturetrek before. This was our third tour with this firm and we already have two more booked. All flights, transfers, passes, accommodation and meals are included in the price. The company can't be faulted when it comes to customer service; any queries before booking or departure are dealt with promptly and efficiently. Would definitely recommend this tour company and the vast number of locations available to tour is staggering.

Fabulous variety of birds with super guide.

Everything was taken care of, and our guide was great company as well as an expert birder. The weather wasn’t too kind to us, but we all had a great time, with a good balance of activity vs down time.
