Trip of a lifetime
A fabulous trip from San Diego aboard the MV Searcher, down the Pacific coast of Baja California and up into the sea of Cortez. Amongst the many highlights were seeing humpback, grey, blue and sperm whales and a superpod of 5000 common dolphins. We saw many birds including pelicans, tropicbirds , hummingbirds and frigate birds. We had walks ashore and trips aboard panga boats. The whole tour was very well organised and the guide was friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable. The company were top class when we were unable to get back to Heathrow because of the fire, both the guide who was with us and the team in the office. They found us hotels, rebooked our flights and after an extra unscheduled but enjoyable two extra days in San Diego we flew home. They worked overtime to sort everyone out bearing in mind that they had other tours stuck all over the world and at Heathrow. They were really excellent.

Victoria Falls, Botswana and Namibia
A 14-day wildlife watching tour, starting at the Victoria Falls, then on to Chobe National Park in Botswana, followed by several sites in northern Namibia. This was a very enjoyable trip, staying at comfortable lodges in memorable locations, with great travelling companions and highly knowledgeable guides, Highlights were the boat trips on the Chobe and Okavango rivers, and the sheer amount of wildlife that we saw.

Colombia and the tour exceeded our expextations.
The tour title was Colombia - Birds and History. Every aspect was spot on - the itinerary, tour guide, accommodation, food, treks, additional guides. Loved the country, the people, the towns and the glorious outdoors. An enlightening and thoroughly enjoyable experience.

Special
We spent 7 days exploring the flora in the mountainous region of Southern Spain. We were taken to different areas every day by our group leader and found so many beautiful and often rare wild flowers, including orchids and tiny daffodils, sometimes just being left to grow by the side of the road. Despite the rain it was a joy for me to get up each day wondering what treasures we would see that day. We were a small group which helped us get on ...

Despite the rain it was a joy for me to get up each day wondering what treasures we would see that day. We were a small group which helped us get on well but it was our group leader whose infectious love and vast knowledge of botany in particular but the natural world in general made the holiday very special.

Having never been on a group holiday before I was a bit nervous but even before I went the tour manager set my mind at rest about some concerns I had. The fact that everything was organised for me was brilliant and it was clear Naturetrek had spent years of research in the area finding places where the rare wild flowers still proliferate. Our group leader was incredible - so happy to impart her vast knowledge not only about botany but geology and other aspects of the natural world. She was our chauffeuse and organised our meals too.

Magical Iceland
The tour was Iceland - Northern Lights & Winter Wildlife and it covered all aspects of this extremely well. There were 6 participants and 1 leader who was very knowledgeable of the area and drove the minibus. We had a day of being tourists, visiting a geyser, Gullfoss waterfall and Thingvellier too. The scenery was breathtaking. The second full day saw us on a whale watching boat trip where we were surrounded by orca and saw other whales too...

There were 6 participants and 1 leader who was very knowledgeable of the area and drove the minibus. We had a day of being tourists, visiting a geyser, Gullfoss waterfall and Thingvellier too. The scenery was breathtaking. The second full day saw us on a whale watching boat trip where we were surrounded by orca and saw other whales too. The third full day focussed more on wildlife - the ptarmigan and other birds (including ducks) that we saw were all stunning. We even managed to see the Northern Lights on that last evening - also magical. So several items on my bucket list were ticked off - the holiday was a magical introduction to Iceland and I cannot wait to go back.

Naturetrek focuses on leading wildlife holidays. They ensure that everything is organised and take good care of participants in their tours. Most have a minibus to take you to the viewing places and they also ensure that you visit the classic tourist spots too. They make excellent choices of hotels, travel, location and guides - I love travelling with them and, as a single person, feel very safe.

An incredible whirlwind of wildlife!
I travelled on the Best of Southern Costa Rica holiday with Naturetrek and it was a fantastic trip exploring the amazing biodiversity of the country. The tour itinerary took in a range of habitats from the cloud forests to the mangroves, with so many species to see - we spotted over 100 birds on one day! Our local guides were excellent and dedicated to making sure we had great views of each species and immersed ourselves into the landscape.
