Unique

It was our first African safari and hopefully not our last. It exceeded expectations and was a unique holiday as camping in the bush in sight and sound of lions, hippos, hyenas etc brought a whole new element to the experience. Our guides Partner and Banda were wonderful and all the camp staff worked hard to ensure our happiness. Our late night campfire chats were always highly entertaining.

We have traveled many times with Naturetrek and have never been disappointed. Whether we have chosen a 'package' or had a tailor made trip every element has worked well leaving us with nothing but happy memories of some truly wonderful journeys to countries we never dreamed we would see.

Wildlife holiday to Portuguese mountains

With Naturetrek. Walking and wildlife spotting - many flowers, insects, butterflies and birds, also a few reptiles and amphibians. Excellent food and lovely hotels with a warm welcome.

Rating for tour operator:

Naturetrek has small groups so there is plenty of time for all activities. Transport is in people carrier type vehicles with driver/guides. The trips seem pricey when looking at the brochure but so much is included they compare VERY favourably with other tour operators and concentrate on less visited areas so there are not crowds of other tourists!

A week of spectacular wildlife

We flew into Lourdes airport and were taken by four minibuses to our splendid, recently renovated hotel in Gedre, The Hotel La Breche de Roland - spectacular view of the snow-capped mountains beyond the breche. We flew into Lourdes airport and were taken by four minibuses to our splendid, recently renovated hotel in Gedre, The Hotel La Breche de Roland - spectacular view of the snow-capped mountains beyond the breche. Each day, fueled by a generous breakfast and picnics, we had hot sunshine for our walks through the local valleys, stopping frequently to admire or photograph. We saw everything we had been promised, mostly in excess of the promises, and always closer than expected. I never thought we would get so close to so many lammergeiers! At times we were walking along a ridge as they swooped alongside, even below us. At every brief stop, two of our four guides would set up spotting scopes - skillfully focussed on the topical feature for us to view. My daughter Kim took hundreds of spectacular pictures.

Rating for tour operator:

Everything was well-choreographed, with our leaders constantly on the look-out for the best way of using the weather or countryside, which they all knew intimately. Our paperwork was exemplary, and the only hitch came on our return journey, when our aircraft had to be replaced for safety reasons.

Okavango adventure teeming with wildlife

This was a jump in the deep end. My first safari, ages 59, and travelling alone for the first time in years. Camping in the bush didn't sound very sensible ,beforehand, with all those dangerous animals around but I decided to trust to the professionalism of NatureTrek to get me back in one piece. Camping in the bush didn't sound very sensible ,beforehand, with all those dangerous animals around but I decided to trust to the professionalism of NatureTrek to get me back in one piece. Above all, I was drawn by the photographic possibilities and these were simply amazing. A leopard greedily feeding on a wild cat, a cheetah standing tail aloft surveying the Savannah, a lioness being greeted by her affectionate cubs upon returning from a hunt, hippos blowing like whales in a pool in a golden sunset. These were some of the highlights in a trip that offered a feast of images to treasure. Not only did I get back in one piece; I was determined to go again - somewhere in Africa - at the earliest opportunity.

Rating for tour operator:

The whole thing was professionally run, both by NatureTrek and the local guides, who really knew their stuff. The food was good, the tents were basic but comfortable and the group spirit was strong.

An amazing British mini safari

The focus was on reptiles and amphibians and despite unfavourable weather our expert guides introduced as to all the British species except the common frog! We saw two snakes we had never seen, three lizards as well as rare natterjack toad and crested newt. While we were looking for these we also found beautiful beetles and butterflies and a gorgeous Dartford Warbler. Overall an amazing and very thrilling trip.

Nature aspects of Pyrenees comprehensively covered

Described as a Festival, the Holliday tried to cover something for everyone. Very good, knowledgable staff were able to help with flora, birds, fauna and insects. Quite a lot for six days, if one tried to follow everything. Of course people were unable to, and fell into their fields of interest, catching up with each other at the evening list sessions. The holiday was centred at a very good hotel in a well chosen small village. This kept travel...

Naturetrek dealt with us very well, especially as they had to postpone the trip twice, due to Covid restrictions. They kept their promises and prices, and even managed to allow us to start the holiday two days earlier, as we had to leave early. Cannot fault the office.
