Walking the West Highland Way Scotland
Two in our group, booked the walking holiday with Mickledore Travel, Keswick. We had a choice of the number of days plus to add rest days if required. Map, Guide book and lots of ancillary information given. B&B's booked, transport organised when we had to leave the trail for overnight. Breakfasts & Packed lunches provided excellent. Luggage transferred without a hitch They arranged an extra day in Fort William for myself to complete Ben Nevis...

A delightful walking holiday through wonderful countryside.
I spent 7 days walking the Dales Way in April. As northern long distance walking routes go, this is relatively undemanding and offers outstanding scenery for modest effort. A bonus is that much of the route follows lesser known tranquil dales. The route is, for the most part, easy underfoot, well maintained and well way marked making it a good choice for those new to long distance walking. Rating for tour operator:This was my third walking holiday with Mickledore and have found the company a delight to deal with, very efficient and providing good accomodation and lots of useful information.
Smooth running so we could enjoy our walk
We walked St Cuthbert's Way from Melrose to Lindisfarne through fabulous country with some great hotels and B&Bs along the way. Each day an unseen team of baggage fairies collected our cases and delivered them to the next destination as if by magic.

Rating for tour operator:Mickeldore took care of everything, even suggesting we do not order one day picnic as there would be plenty of pubs/ tea rooms on the way that specific day. Very professional and friendly contacts.
A fabulous walk along the South Downs Way
We walked for eight days along the entire South Downs Way from Winchester to Eastbourne with a day off in Lewes between days six and seven. This is a magnificent walk and we had the added bonus of beautiful weather. The pictures of the chalk cliffs cannot convey the impressive sight of them "in the flesh" and there were many charming villages to visit along the way. This was a wonderful holiday

Rating for tour operator:This was our fourth walk organized by Mickledore and, as in the past, our itinerary was beautifully planned. We had all the materials we needed to guide us on our walk. Our luggage was waiting for us when we reached each destination. The accommodations were welcoming, comfortable, and often luxurious, and we were given beautiful breakfasts and generous packed lunches. Our only job was to walk from point A to point B each day.
Fabulous week walking the Cotswold Way,
This was our first time doing a long distance trail and we absolutely loved it. Each day was different. The scenery is varied with stunning views. We got to explore some beautiful Cotswold villages, walked through woodland filled with squirrels and there are colourful wild flowers everywhere. We even saw a badger one day and 2 red deer another. We got to explore some beautiful Cotswold villages, walked through woodland filled with squirrels and there are colourful wild flowers everywhere. We even saw a badger one day and 2 red deer another. There were a lot more ups and downs than we had anticipated, it felt like we went up every single hill in the Cotswolds! We used Mickeldore to book the holiday and apart from 1 hotel where our room wasn't very pleasant, the standard of accommodation was very good with comfortable beds and excellent breakfasts and hosts that made you feel very welcome. I used trip advisor to pick where we would eat every night and we had some really good meals, especially the Mount in Stanton and the Falcon Arms in Painswick. We added an extra night in Bath so we could explode this wonderful city and it was the perfect end to a really enjoyable holiday. If you like walking this is a fabulous holiday.
Rating for tour operator:It was our first holiday using Mickledore and I have been very impressed with this company. Before I booked the holiday I rang Mickledore with a few questions, and the lady I spoke to was very helpful and it was obvious that she knew a lot about the Cotswold Way holiday that I was interested in. I specifically asked that all our accommodation was en-suite and they assured me this would be arranged and it was.. I also asked if I could pick where we stayed in Bath as we were going to be there for a few nights and again this wasn't a problem and they emailed me details of several bed and breakfasts that they used for me to choose one. The amount of information, including maps , lunch stops, bus timetables and places to eat on an evening was extremely detailed and very useful. I really couldn't fault the service provided by Mickledore.
So wonderful and peaceful walk along the Cotswold way ! Perfect organisation by Mickledore.
After The Hadrian wall last year, that's the second I travel with Mickledore. This Cotswold way Holiday has been wonderful ! Everything went beautifully : • the B&Bs Mickledore booked : great bedrooms, hosts, location and food • the weather, THE WEATHER ! 11 days of sunny or slightly overcast weather • the walk itself, amazing, peaceful, varied and sooo green • the people : welcoming and kind everywhere • the great villages, churches ...

It also allowed me to make all the stops and detours by foot recommended by the guidebook, and each time it's been worth it.
Rating for tour operator:Professionnal, very quick and nice at answering any question. They have a great reputation among the B&Bs hosts, I could check ; they consider them very professionnal and it's a plus for me to know people in the field feel this way. It made me feel safe. The English language not being my mother tongue, what attracted me first was their very clear website. Still now, having check others, I consider it as the best one, the clearest and most practical one.
Excellent organisation and support

10 day walking holiday in Northumberland - St Oswalds Way.
Rating for tour operator:I have used Mickledorre Travel for about 7 walking holidays in the UK On every occasion the company has provided an excellent service in booking accommodation, organising baggage transport and any necessary taxi arrangements. Their package comes complete with all the neccessary route maps and guide books.
Both the accounting and the trip went smoothly. Exactly what you expect from a holiday.
We have walked the Hadrianwall. Started in Newcastle (what we believe is the best choice because it is more beautiful) and ended in Bowness on Solway. We walked 10 days which for us was a nice daily kilometers. Of course it is holiday also.

Rating for tour operator:Both the accounting and the trip went smoothly. Exactly what you expect from a holiday. The B&B's were all of good quality. The baggage was always on the spot and the guidebook and other descriptions were of very good quality. The walk itself is a very pleasant, partly because you walk past something historic. Definitely recommended for average walker.
St Cuthberts Way - a beautiful walk, well organised by Mickledore Travel
We walked the 66 miles of the St Cuthberts Way in 5 days. This was a beautiful walk from Melrose, on the Scottish borders to Lindisfarne. Very varied, with pretty river side walks, and more dramatic scenery through the Cheviot hills, culminating in the magnificent St Cuthberts cave, then spectacular views towards Lindisfarne, the Farne islands and Bamburgh castle. We met some lovely, friendly locals in the pubs along the way, and several interesting and friendly fellow walkers, including a couple of wandering minstrels who sang and played for their beer and lodgings every night.
Rating for tour operator:Mickledore Travel organised our accommodation, which was always great and the bag transfers, which all went smoothly. They also provided a very useful and well thought out information pack I would certainly use them again for a similar vacation, and thought they were both helpful and good value for money.
