Pembrokeshire Coast Path - walking 70 miles in 7 days.

Starting in Solva, we walked along the Pembrokeshire Coat Path, ending in St. Dogmael's. The week-long walk (70 miles and 9,000 feet elevation gain) was both challenging and inspiring. The views along the Coast Path include breathtaking panoramas of the rugged Welsh coast line accented with fields of bluebells and other wildflowers. All of the support we received from Mickeldore was of the highest quality.

Organised to perfection!

We were so happy that every day at the end of our walk our bags were at the next destination...even if we were a little early. The B&B's selected were really good, with a couple of exceptions that Mickledore have taken the feedback on board. I cannot speak highly enough of them from start to finish. Lynn

We had a most relaxing holiday in England. It was our 8th walk with Mickledore and every time a most unforgetable experience. The B&Bs were most welcoming and the walks well-marked and easy to find with the provided documents. Every walk was special but all of them offered a lovely scenery and lovely views.

Filling up your senses on Hadrian's Wall

Hiking Hadrian's Wall literally fills up your senses. The vistas along the Roman wall are magnificent. The feel of the wind, light rain and each step along the trail are still with me. The smells emanating from the neighboring farms and local vegetation linger on. The taste of those full English breakfasts is still a topic of discussion. The smells emanating from the neighboring farms and local vegetation linger on. The taste of those full English breakfasts is still a topic of discussion. Touching the Roman wall, even walking on top of it for a brief stretch, connected me with a people who built the wall some 1,800 years ago. The omnipresent sounds of May--birds chirping, sheep braying, trail gates opening and closing--added to the unforgettable experience. We took our time, walking from Walls End in Newcastle westward to Bowness-on-Solway. It was an unforgettable trip. Our accommodations were excellent and the baggage transfer agents couldn't have done a better job.

Rating for tour operator:

We travelled Hadrian's Wall on our own after arranging accommodations with Mickledore (who also arranged for baggage transfer). Arrangements went smoothly, responses were prompt and the materials provided (maps, schedules, places to eat, etc.) were very useful.

It really does sound as if you had a fantastic walk on Hadrian's Wall, John. Thank you so much for your lovely feedback and I hope that your memorable walk stays with you for a long time. Thanks again, Lynne.

Loved our Westmorland Way walking trip!

We just loved our Westmorland Way walking trip, and Mickledore took care of all the details so we could just walk! We did the whole Way - Appleby to Arnside - with 9 days walking and 2 rest (Glenridding and Grasser) days, and wished we had added another rest day in Kendal both to enjoy the area and rest after a big walking day. We wanted to see the Lake District and small villages, and this was a great trip for it! We also stayed in nice ...

Mickledore is the best! They provided great service - helping us choose the walk for us, booking us into nice B&B's, sending out our holiday pack early so we had lots of time to read up on everything. We woke up each morning to a nice breakfast, carried what we needed for the day in our backpacks, and left our luggage. We'd arrive at the next night's accommodation and there it would be! No worries for us!

Mickledore Travel responded to this review on 07 Jun 2016:

Congratulations on completing the Westmorland Way Cathy. It is a great way to explore the small villages that the Lake District has to offer. We are really pleased that you loved your walking holiday and that you enjoyed staying at the B&B's we selected and booked for you. It is always lovely to hear that you could just relax and enjoy the walking. Lucy

Another memorable walking holiday from Mickeldore

We walked the 80 miles of the Northumberland Coastal path from Morpeth to Berwick, in 5 days, with extra days built into our itinerary to visit the sea bird colonies on the Farne Islands, and Lindisfarne. Mickeldore orgainsed our accommodation and luggage transfers, enabling us to relax and enjoy a wonderful - if occasionally wet and footsore - week exploring the rugged beauty of the North East.

Rating for tour operator:

This was the third self-guided walking holiday that we have booked with Mickledore over the last 5 or 6 years, and once again their detailed knowledge of the route resulted in a well-planned itinerary combined with some excellent and welcoming B&Bs. Mickeldore were able to work around our specific dates, build in rest days in the locations we wanted, and provided local maps and comprehensive information on local amenities including recommendations for meals. I have no hesitation in recommending Mickeldore to anyone interested in enjoying everything our beautiful countryside has to offer.

Coast to Coast Walk St. Bees to Robin Hood's Bay May 2016

It was a wonderful experience helped by terrific weather and spectacular scenery. However, the real highlight was the people I met, including fellow walkers, locals and the owners and staff of the places I stayed. There was a genuine warm and friendly welcome at all 17 places that I stayed which is testimony to the operator for picking these venues.

Rating for tour operator:

Brilliant, from the information they supplied to their flexibility and problem solving initiative when there was a problem. One of the venues suffered storm damage and another had a blocked toilet but Mickledore and to an extent the venues in question sorted out alternative accommodation and presented me with a solution before I even knew there was a problem

Thank you for your fantastic feedback, John. It is lovely to hear that you enjoyed the walking and the weather but it is also great to hear that what made your holiday was the people that you met along the way and the welcome you received from your accommodations. Thank you also for rating Mickledore as brilliant! Sonja

Our walking holiday of the Northumberland coast was wonderful.

The coast is beautiful and the walking was usually easy. The daily miles were doable and the accommodations were excellent. A bus line shadowed the route so that we could ride a bus if we wanted to stop walking.

Rating for tour operator:

This is the second time we have used Mickledore and highly recommend them. The contact prior to the walk was excellent with friendly help. The documentation provided covered all aspects of the holiday and great attention was paid to the detail. As they say it's all in the planning and their plan big is excellent. Information before the holiday included the maps, the booklet, details of where to eat when we arrived at the guest house and detailed description and maps on how to get to the guest house.
