Rob Roy Way walk - Drymen to Pitlochry

A fine walk through some fabulous scenery along country lanes, forest tracks, old railway lines and moorland tracks. Plenty of peace and quiet with birds of all sorts and red squirrels to help us on our way.

We first tackled a long distance walk in 2010 and picked Mickledore at random via internet searches as our chosen organizers. We had no reason whatsoever that year to regret our choice. In fact we have returned to use their services each year since then and have already booked our seventh walk. We still have no reason to regret our choice. Over the years we have had absolutely nothing to complain about - all our holidays have gone without a hint of a problem. All documentation, accommodation and baggage transfer has been of the highest standard. All arrangements have gone like clockwork. We have no hesitation in recommending their services to anyone who is looking for a first class experience. We'll certainly be back until we can walk no more!!

West Highland Way

This was my first walking vacation and I am now hooked. I met so many interesting and helpful people along the way and have new friends in my life. The planning on Mickledore’s part was outstanding. The book “West Highland Way” by Charlie Loram was beyond helpful. The book allowed me to understand what I was looking at as well as what to expect on the next leg of the walk. The book “West Highland Way” by Charlie Loram was beyond helpful. The book allowed me to understand what I was looking at as well as what to expect on the next leg of the walk. Many other walkers asked me where I got my book (told them it was in my package from Mickledore) which helped all of us find our way along the walk. I had an amazing experience challenging myself every day all the while enjoying the beautiful scenery. I would love to do the Great Glen Way next and will definitely book with Mickledore Travel again. I have told so many friends and family that they must experience this kind of adventure. I could write volumes of my experience but will keep it short. AMAZING!!!!!!

Mickledore arranged all accommodations and luggage transfers for me. In addition, the package I received from them contained bus and train schedules, where to eat and drink and much more. In addition, I received a map and a book which proved to be helpful and informative during the walk. In my package I also received pictures of my B&Bs, their addresses, and nearby places to eat and drink if same was not available on site. Mickledore answered all of my questions in a timely manner considering I live in another country with a 5 hour time difference with emails being replied to in less than 24 hours.

Hi Margaret
Thanks for your feedback. I'm really pleased you had a good holiday. I'm sure the weather helped - it was one of the best Septembers for a while. I think you will enjoy the Great Glen. It's a bit easier than the West Highland Way with lots of dramatic scenery.

Coast to Coast Walk

Mickledore organised all the accommodation on a 13 day walk from St Bees to Robin Hood's Bay. They also picked up my bag each day and carried it on to the next stop. The walk itself was a great way of seeing a beautiful cross section of northern England. The information pack provided by Mickledore before the start of the walk was amazingly comprehensive. as a result of this it was possible to relax into the walk without any worries. a truly great holiday.

Spectacular natural wonders, perfect holiday organisation.

We both have not stopped talking about our walk along Hadrian's Wall since we returned. It was all that we hoped it would be and so much more! The scenery is spectacular and very varied. The path is well-marked and challenging in parts. There was always something to look at and interesting people to talk to. Very life-affirming!!

Mickledore was able to organise the exact walking holiday we wanted along Hadrian's Wall both efficiently and professionally. It was a memorable experience from start to finish. All the B&Bs were excellent with lovely hosts. The luggage was transported seamlessly, leaving us to concentrate on the delights of the walk. The information supplied (timetables, maps etc) was extensive and very useful. We can't wait to book another walking holiday with them.

urgent request for walking holiday (Cleveland Way)with extremely short notice

Due to a cancelled river cruise with only four days notice, I rang Mickledore wtth the challenge could they organise my Cleveland Way walk giving them absolute minimum notice. They accepted the challenge and fully succeeded including getting all the books and maps to me in time to plot my walk. A very successful walk meeting all their obligations with no reservations from me Not quite the cruise I had anticipated but a wonderful experience...

I have two more walks planned via Mickledore and looking forward to them

I found Mickledore via Google in my desperation ,due to a cancelled holiday and requiring an alternative. I picked Mickledore without any knowledge of them and they came up trumps. I have no reservation about recommending them and have given them two further walks to organise for me can there be a more convincing argument.

Perfect organisation for our walking holiday

We spent 8 days walking The Cotswold Way in Gloucestershire in September. It's varying terrain - exposed limestone outcrops, tiny villages, small towns and at the end the city of Bath. It's serious walking, but pleasant and manageable, much open countryside but never very far from civilisation.

Mickledore recommended places to stay on our Cotswold Way walking holiday and made all the arrangements. All we had to do was to walk! The places they recommended were all fine, with some of them being specifically geared for walkers. Several were real gems that we would never have found for ourselves.

Two Bens, 130 miles on foot and stunning scenery

17 days in Scotland (of which only 1.5 were wet - who says it rains all the time in Scotland?). The holiday included walking from Glasgow to Fort William along the Kelvin Walkway and West Highland Way; a side trip to beautiful Oban; ascents of both Ben Lomond and Ben Nevis; and three days based in Fort William exploring the area bounded by Mallaig, Fort Augustus and Glencoe. Near perfect, marred only by the wee winged beasties out staying ...

This was our fifth self-guided walking holiday with Mickledore. We have always found them to be excellent. They have listened to our requirements, including amending standard itineraries to suit. The accommodation they select is always the best available, they provide a comprehensive information pack and their logistics have never once let us down.
