Great Glen Way by Kea Kernow, 29 Jun 2017
Holiday Rating:

A truly professional service with attention to detail which made our holiday wonderful.

A group of 4 walked the Great Glen Way with totally comprehensive arrangements made by Mickeldore. Anything we wanted to know was in the information they provided.

Speyside Way by Charlie, 28 Jun 2017
Holiday Rating:

Excellent holiday; well organised as always.

Although we have a holiday home in the area we decided to use Mickledore having used them in the past. The Speyside Way is a very pleasant walk through interesting countryside. All the overnight stops were excellent with outstanding food in all cases. Mickledore were very flexible in changing the standard holiday to meet out requirements.

Dales Way by John Duncan, 26 Jun 2017
Holiday Rating:

A wonderful walk

We walked the Dales Way, from Ilkley to Bowness on Windermere, over a period of 7 days. The route and the scenery were wonderful, and we stayed in some terrific B&Bs - which had been selected by our tour operator. Our luggage was transported for us each day, leaving us free to enjoy our holiday with only a day-sack to carry.

Mickledore made all the arrangements including B&Bs, luggage transfers and a taxi transfer where necessary. It all worked seamlessly. They provided excellent route instructions and detailed maps. All contact we had with them was professional and effective. We would use them again without hesitation.

Trouble Free

We have travelled with Mickledore several times and have learnt to expect a well organised and trouble free trip. Arran has limited accommodation and we stayed at excellent B&Bs, Guest Houses & Hotels. Inspected regularly and highly recommended. A very enjoyable trip with a personalised itinery.

Based in Keswick we like to support a local business. Well respected and highly recommended. They inspect regularly and receive excellent feedback from the accommodation used.

Thank you for your feedback. We work hard to ensure that we visit as many accommodations as we can as this is an important part of the holiday to get right. We are pleased that this was evident and that you enjoyed your accommodations.

Pembrokeshire Coastal Trail Hike

I purposely took on this hike solo as my wife passed away in 2016 and wanted some time to reflect. While it was a very emotional journey for me and at times difficult, I have come out stronger. The actual hike itself was beautiful; the flowers were in full bloom, I had decent weather, the scenery was spectacular and I met some fine people hiking and or dining. The B and B's were all good and hosts were knowledgeable and helpful. I have recommended ...

Pembrokeshire Coast Path by jood, 22 Jun 2017

Another great walking experience with Mickledore

Five spectacular days walking the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, not even rain for 50% of the time could dampen my spirits. As expected (this was my third Mickledore walking holiday) the accommodation was first rate and the information pack covered absolutely everything, from tide tables to ATMs. All I had to do was enjoy the walk, knowing that all the arrangements had been taken care of.

I have always received efficient service from Mickledore, and have also heard good reports from B and B owners and taxi drivers. They think of everything to make the holiday go smoothly.

Rob Roy Way by Gadgies, 21 Jun 2017
Holiday Rating:

The Rob Roy Way, an 80 mile walk

Five of us, all in our 60's and 70's, chose to "do" the Rob Roy Way over six days walking. The walking is relatively easy, much of it on forest tracks and old railway lines, not a lot of climbing! We averaged 13 miles a day, sadly on two days in the rain, but that's Scotland for you. Most of the locals advised us to do the walk in May but we chose June.

We chose Mickledore of Keswick to organise our trip. They were very helpful, by phone and by email and we had no problems at all incompleting the bookings. The booklet giving accommodation details was spot on apart from one tiny error which did not affect our trip and the company was pleased when we pointed out the mistake. I would certainly use Mickledore again.

Mickledore Travel responded to this review on 21 Jun 2017:

I'm pleased to hear that you had a successful trip. Unfortunately the only thing we don't organise is the weather, but it all just adds to the Scottish experience! I hope you will give us the chance to book your next trip very soon.

Coast to Coast by Duffie, 21 Jun 2017

The only thing you have to do is walk

My husband and I have walked the C2C in May. We had a perfectly organized coast-to-coast holiday. We have greatly enjoyed the walk, as well as the variety of places where we stayed during the walks. We started in St Bees and had a rest day after 10 days of walking in Richmond at the Old Brewery. After the rest day we had another 6 days of walking. Mickledore had arranged a taxi on the last day to pick us up at Robin Hoods Bay, and took us back ...

We started in St Bees and had a rest day after 10 days of walking in Richmond at the Old Brewery. After the rest day we had another 6 days of walking. Mickledore had arranged a taxi on the last day to pick us up at Robin Hoods Bay, and took us back to Richmond were Mickledore had arranged a parking place for our car during the holiday. Admittedly, the walk was very challenging at some parts of the Lake District, because, The Netherlands doesn’t really do hills let alone fells, which makes practicing for us quite difficult. But once we were on the top, the view was spectacular (when it wasn't foggy) Overall we had a well organized holiday!

Rating for tour operator:

My husband and I have walked the C2C in May. Mickledore arranged all our accommodation, packed lunches on the walking days, and some of the dinner reservations (if there was only one restaurant in the village). They also arranged for our luggage to be transferred each day. They helped us with the transport to St Bees (from Richmond) and at the last day from Robin Hoods Bay back to the car at Richmond. After booking and planning where to stay on our rest day. Mickledore send a package filled with papers: Luggage tags, discount coupon for some shops, directions to our accommodation, diversions on the route, places to eat every evening, who to call, etc. And two waterproof maps and a book of the route. The only thing you had to do each day was getting your backpack and walk. We’ve now done not only C2C, but also Speyside, Great Glenn Way and Hadrian’s Wall, via Mickledore. And it was always perfectly arranged!

Mickledore Travel responded to this review on 21 Jun 2017:

Thank you for taking the time to give your thorough feedback, I'm so pleased to hear that all the arrangements went according to plan once again and you had such a good time. Although you have walked many times with us I hope we still have lots more routes that may interest you in the future.
