Made our wishes come true

We wanted a walking holiday with a difference so we mixed and matched what was possible. The booking was done last minute and we did not doubt that Mickledore Travel found a way. We walked the Northumbrian Coast Path from start and ended on the magical place on the Holy island, Lindisfarne This is not our first time with Mickledore so we knew the accomodation was perfect, nothing to worry about and all hotels along the route was payed so ...

The company that picked up our luggage did their bit. Outstanding and all maps, guides, extra info was included in that package. We had to pack our own suitcase and the rest was done by Mickledore If you are looking for a company that does everything else than get you to the starting point then try out Mickledore. They are a bit more than a travel agent they become your best friend 😁

Speyside Way by Ladybird & Ruddy Darter, 3 Oct 2019

A joyful experience of Scotland

A six day walking holiday along the Speyside Way, with Mickeldore having arranged for our luggage to be transferred to our next accommodation every day. We were fortunate with the September weather. Every day the views were spectacular. The people we met along the way and at the accommodation were friendly and helpful. We returned home refreshed and invigorated.

This is the second time we have used Mickeldore for a walking holiday and have had good experiences on both occasions. From the initial booking to the completion of our holiday Mickeldore made the process straightforward. When researching the holiday initially we found the Mickeldore website detailed, informative and easy to negotiate. Mickeldore were always easy to contact with any queries we raised, which were responded to efficiently and politely. We asked for some amendments to the standard package and these were effected without hassle. The maps, guides and other documentation provided by Mickeldore enabled us to negotiate the trail with ease and enjoyment. The various places of accommodation along the trail were of a good standard.

Clockwork

It just worked like clockwork. Everything happened as it should and the accommodation was good. I would not hesitate to book with them again.

South Downs Way

A group of 10 of us from the US booked the South Downs Way walk. We are seasoned travelers from around the country with age range of 55-72. From planning to the final day of the walk everything went perfectly. The responses and communications from Michledore were always prompt and thorough. Once we arrived everything went as planned: B&Bs were very nice, maps and directions kept us from ever going off coarse. We have all had extensive travel ...

We have all had extensive travel experience from guided tours to self directed trips and this trip was a top 10 for all if us!!

Rating for tour operator:

We were self guided once we arrived but Michledore did all the planning and communicating to set up the trip They were available to us for any issues during the trip but we never needed anything.

North Lakes Traverse by Janie D, 26 Sep 2019

Off the beaten track!

5 days self guided walking in the beautiful Lake District, using pre-marked OS maps and good instructions provided by Mickledore Travel. All 5 hotels & Bed & Breakfasts had been pre-booked (and chosen) by Mickledore, and our accommodation was all en-suite and extremely comfortable, with packed lunches provided each day. We left our car at our first hotel, & Mickledore provided a pre-booked taxi to take us to collect it on the final day...

All 5 hotels & Bed & Breakfasts had been pre-booked (and chosen) by Mickledore, and our accommodation was all en-suite and extremely comfortable, with packed lunches provided each day. We left our car at our first hotel, & Mickledore provided a pre-booked taxi to take us to collect it on the final day. The routes were well marked, and we found the gradients and length of walks to be what we expect for a ‘moderate’ 3 Boot walk. What we didn’t anticipate was to be walking through such spectacular scenery, it really was a wonderful holiday.

Rating for tour operator:

Very friendly and efficient, updated our route when a bridge was closed unexpectedly, and made sure a hard copy was delivered to us at our hotel. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them, and have already sent the company link to several friends.

Thanks for your great feedback about the arrangements we made for your holiday and the walk itself. It is lovely to hear that you enjoyed your holiday and have been recommending us to your friends.

A great walk in the Lake District

We are keen photographers but with weak knees, and so we needed an itinerary that allowed us to see the best views but without being too much of a challenge. Mickledore gave us good advice and came up with a plan that fully met our requirements. We had a very enjoyable week, met some nice people, and enjoyed some great pub meals. The weather was perfect and we have taken some fantastic pictures.

Speyside Way - a pleasant spirit infusing walk

Very pleasant walk with sufficient variation in trail and landscape, although you are in fact continuously folllowing the same river. Nice side trips can be made as suggested and ther is an abundant presence of whisky distilleries.

St Oswalds Way by Roger, 22 Sep 2019
Holiday Rating:

Wonderful varied walking experience

Walking St Oswald's Way in Northumberland was a delightful experience. The route encompases a mixture of historic Holy Island, the unspoilt Northumberland coast with its beautiful beaches and harbours and later the quiet rolling hills finishing along Hadrians Wall. Very good accomodation B & Bs, guest houses and pubs and fortunately good weather enhanced the whole experience.

Mickledore made all the arrangements, their organisation of the accommodation was excellent and each place I stayed was of a very high standard. The hosts generally went above and beyond to ensure I had an excellent stay in their establishment and any transport required was provided as planned. The luggage transfers Mickledore arranged went very smoothly and the taxi transfers they arranged were efficient and flexible when I wanted to change my pick up times. The Yorkshire Wolds Way is a quiet National Trail but other walkers I met along the way were friendly and we sometimes walked together sharing the magic of the trail.

Rating for tour operator:

I can not fault the service provided by Mickledore before I set off on my holiday, they are helpful and informative making you feel a valued customer. The trail guide, maps, my individual programme and the local information they provided were all excellent, I used everything provided during my time away. Their follow-up service is really good and they respond to any feedback you provide. Their mobile App is really helpful as well. I recommend Mickledore to everyone I know who loves walking and also to other people I meet while walking a trail. I will definitely be using their services again for future walking holidays.
