Outer Hebrides - Stunning, Interesting and Varied
Despite the weather(it could have been better!) we had a great time. From the beauty of Barra and Vatersay with it's turquoise sea and white sands and its Airport on the beach to the dark beauty of Harris and Lewis where we saw Black houses, White Houses, peat cutting, and learnt about Crofting, the Machair and so much history. I think the weather actually helped us understand why this is such a fascinating place and we are very glad we came...

I think the weather actually helped us understand why this is such a fascinating place and we are very glad we came. Our wellingtons and waterproofs were essential enabling us to get out and walk the Luskentyre beach, examine the Callinish Standing Stones, and breathe the unpolluted air. Oh yes and the Tweed! Magic to meet a weaver in his home, examine his loom and see the finished cloth, and buy a Gentleman's gilet from the shop at Grosebay. Very special and I only wish I could have afforded the beautiful ladies coat in purple tweed edged with velvet and lined with silk......next time maybe when I've saved up!

Very helpful and polite. Never pressured us into anything and were very responsive to the suggestions I made as to how they could improve the problem of finding places to have an evening meal when you didn't know which places were best and everywhere seemed fully booked. All ferry bookings worked like clockwork and the accommodations booked were excellent.

a wonderful holiday which had been well researched
The holiday was a huge success because the operators had done their research well. They chose interesting off the beaten track locations , provided us with information that was valuable and varied for us to use and all the itineraries worked .

Wonderful train tour of Scotland
I traveled on my own and McKinley Kidd had everything set up to make my travel easy. The places I stayed at were very nice. The travel tips gave me more than enough to do. I had great service and met friendly people everywhere on the trip. It was great to travel in the first class car on the Jacobite Train. Overall, this trip has a lifetime of happy memories.

McKinley Kidd had everything set up for me so that I had nothing to worry about. I am so happy with how it all worked out. I could enjoy the trip without worries about lodging and transportation. The lodging was great and the train/ferry/car trips fun.

Fully enjoyable trip
We had a driving weekend in the Grampians - taking in the delightful scenery, the local amenities and the local produce. We had a great hotel ( The Station Hotel, Rothes), newly refurbished to a high standard and really friendly and informative staff. Food was great. We visited the Glen Grant distillery, the Grampian Motor museum and the Speyside Cooperage. All very interesting and informative.

McKinlay Kidd provided interesting driving routes for both enthusiastic and leisurely driving, highlighting key landmarks and stopping places. The choice of hotel was excellent, conveniently placed for both walking to the Distillery and Gardens and a good centre for trips to the coast and other scenic routes. All the arrangements for the visits we made worked well.

Lovely countryside

Exploring Scotland by Rail
Our trip which was arranged by McKinley Kidd took us to a number of beautiful locations in Scotland. We were not at all familiar with the country so we very much appreciated being able to take a tour which gave us the highlights and was a trip we could do on our own without having to join a large organized tour. We were not at all familiar with the country so we very much appreciated being able to take a tour which gave us the highlights and was a trip we could do on our own without having to join a large organized tour. McKinley Kidd set up the train, ferry, and car transfer services and arranged our stays in wonderful small family-run hotels and B&Bs. They even managed to coordinate our arrival in Pitlochry with the beginning of the regional Highland Games competition. Train, ferry, and car/van transfer services were excellent and punctual. We had a grand time and thoroughly enjoyed our introduction to Scotland and its people. One additional comment: McKinley Kidd provides travelers a folder with a comprehensive schedule as well as supplemental maps and information to customers just prior to the trip. This is in addition to schedule information provided to customers well in advance of the trip.

It was a pleasure to work with McKinley Kidd in that they were most responsive to our questions and requests even though we had to make a change of dates for our tour of Scotland after we had finalized our original plans. They definitely know the country as well as the best locations to stay.

I have used the services of McKinlay Kidd over the last four years for travel holidays around Northern Scotland, the Western Hebrides, Western Ireland and now the Shetland Isles. They have made proposals for my itinerary with recommendations on places to visit, restaurants, museums etc. This service has included arrangements for accommodation and all travel details (taxis, car hire, ferries etc). The service has always been efficient, polite and friendly with extremely good support documentation, tickets and maps.

It was a very well organized tour. The choices made by the tour operator were great for us. Everything went like clockwork. The B&B's were charming. We felt like we got a good taste of Scotland for the amount of time we could spend there.

Very enjoyable break..
A week in Ireland visiting Dublin, Galway and finishing in Belfast.

We would recommend the tour operator/organiser and would use again. Everything was arranged and booked in a way that made things simple; with no unexpected problems. There were tours/trips arranged in every City plus sufficient free time to look around.

Extremely well organized from the planning right through to the actual holiday experience.
This was the first time my husband had been to Scotland, so we booked a short tour of Scotland by train, staying in Pitlochry, Inverness, Spean Bridge, Luss and Edinburgh. We had a wonderful time, so much so that we may be going back in 2018. The best part of the holiday was that everything was arranged and paid for ahead of time so all we had to do was show up on time for the trains and have a worry free vacation.

McKinlay Kidd did and excellent job in working with me to plan our train tour of Scotland, including some modifications I wanted to make. Everything went off without a hitch, the trains were booked and seats reserved, the B&Bs were lovely (especially the Craigatin in Pitlochry), and we had a great vacation as a result. For anyone planning a vacation in Britain, I would highly recommend booking everything through McKinlay Kidd.
