Northumberland adventure

Our first time in Northumberland and what a lot to see and do and what scenery. A trip to the Farne Islands and Hadrians wall are a most but it also has some of the best castles in England to see. Holy Island is a great place to experience and the trip over the causeway is interesting.

Six months age we toured the inner Hebrides with McKinlay Kidd. We were so impressed that we came back to tour the Outer Hebrides only to find that it was even better. This tour has it all, trains, ferries, private tours, boat cruise, wildlife, beautiful scenery, history, whisky and gin distilleries, craft work, wonderful people great food and accomodation and WiFi.

We have been travelling the world for over 45 years and McKinlay Kidd is without doubt the best travel agent we have ever dealt with. Their intimate knowledge of the area they cover is without peer. We were very impressed that they actually visit the area covered, inspect the accomodation, speak with the providers and tour operators. With their attention to detail, clear instructions and the Vamoos App and knowing they are with you 24/7 it is impossible to go wrong even for two 80 year old Australian GreyNomads.

Amazing Classic Car holiday

I surprised my husband with this trip driving a Mark 2 Jaguar around the north west of Scotland over three days. It was a fantastic experience. The scenery and roads were amazing. the accommodation was top class, we stayed at the Acray lodge which was charming with great views and the Pierhouse in Port Appin was a little piece of heaven,

Lakes And York Districts Getaway

A self guided tour of the Lakes and Yorkshire districts plus York over several days. The holiday included car hire and special excursions such as the Ulswater Steamer and a steam train journey. There was time to explore the areas surrounding the excellent accommodation. Dinners were pre-booked for us on days that we were travelling to new accommodation.

McKinlay Kidd booked excellent accommodation for us and took into account the needs of our small group. They arranged for a package that included maps and ideas for exploring the different areas that we visited. Daniela was always friendly and helpful. We greatly appreciated the phone call when we had left an item at one of the accommodations.

With the help of McKinlay Kidd, we explored the undiscovered West Coast of Ireland in the North, from Donegal to Sligo. Great views, lovely experiences, super hotels.

Efficient helpful and thorough with comprehensive travel documents and information. Every aspect of the trip under their control worked like clockwork. Every aspect more than exceeded our expectations. Unfortunately flights (not under McKinlay Kidds control) were delayed and airport staff and facilities left a lot to be desired.

We explored Tiree using a hire car, visiting some of its beautiful beaches, Hynish and its historic buildings and, in spite of its remoteness, eating good food, especially sea food. The weather was not so kind in Mull but an escorted wildlife tour, organised by McKinlay Kidd, enabled us to see the beauty of the island and some of the wildlife for which it is famous, from the comfort of a minibus. The accommodation in Tiree and Mull was very comfortable and the owners most welcoming and helpful. Our stay in Oban was brief but the hotel overlooking the harbour was both convenient for our early ferry and comfortable. We were lucky in that we had very calm crossings with Caledonian McBrayne and very much enjoyed the view from the decks. We enjoyed experiencing the calmer pace of life. All in all a good holiday.

Rating for tour operator:

I cannot speak too highly of McKinlay Kidd. All the arrangements by Caoimhe were excellent including booked train seats and excellent accommodation in Oban, Tiree and Mull. They were able to tailor the holiday to us ( no car) and the detailed itinerary and supporting documents were extremely helpful. Having to limit our luggage to what we could carry ourselves we were particularly impressed with the Vamoos app. We made good use of Robert’s Recommendations and it was useful to have detailed information always at our fingertips. For us the Mull wildlife tour was a highlight. While we were on Mull the weather wasn’t great and it was most comforting to receive a phone call from Caoimhe to see if we were OK. Fortunately our travel arrangements were not affected. I would highly recommend McKinlay Kidd and would definitely use them again.
