It’s no easier to find off the beaten track places st Home than it is abroad -that’s why I use McKinlay Kidd ! They research hidden gem places and hotels and spare me the effort of endless research . Plus they’ve actually been there to check them out .

My wife and I chose this tour because we wanted to visit some of the more remote locations of Scotland. We ended up staying at nine different properties and going on two organized tours in Skye and Orkney. The properties were amazing and the meals were gourmet quality. Our transportation, whether by train, ferry or taxi was well coordinated and reliable for the most part. The 15 day tour itself was self guided for the majority of the time, which gave us the freedom to explore our interests. Everything went like clockwork with very little issue. We came away feeling that we saw and experienced much of rural Scotland.

McKinlay Kidd is known for backing up their product and solving issues in an expedient manner. Their tours are well organized and coordinated with great itineraries. They research and select only the best and highly rated accommodations, tour operators and transportation services. I felt confident in receiving the best this company had to offer.

We had a week of travelling around Scotland by train which was very well organised by McKinlay Kidd. All of the arrangements went to plan and at every station out taxi was waiting for us to take us to our next hotel/ guest house. We had some wonderful sightseeing experiences as the locations chosen for us by McKinlay Kidd were ideal for these trips. We managed to see Loch Ness, Ben Nevis, The Isle of Skye including a distillery, Fairy pools , Crofters's museum, coral beach and the Quiraing ( part of the Trotternish ridge). Our accommodation were individual but all equally good and the food was excellent.

McKinlay Kidd organised our holiday extremely well. All of their arrangements worked well and the choice of destinations was perfect for sightseeing. The accommodation they chose for us was excellent . We stayed in 4 different hotels/guest houses and each was of a high standard and had unique features. The accommodation on Skye was a 200 year old family home full of antiques and history and the hotel at Spean Bridge had and amazing view of the Ben Nevis mountain range and provided first class food. All was organic and homemade. The guest house in Pitlochry was equally of a good standard and did an excellent breakfast. Our guest house on Inverness had its own chickens and the breakfast was excellent. The app which McKinlay Kidd set up for us was so useful nd gave us weather info and maps.

Lovely holiday (helped by some great weather). Interesting and very scenic islands. Great hotel ( Busta House) and really good B&B (Hayhoull) and some nice views everywhere

We took the McKinlay Kidd Classic Round Scotland by train trip in early May, and loved it! The tour takes you to Spean Bridge (Ft. William area), Skye, Inverness and Pitlochry over the course of a week. The Highlands are spectacular, and the train rides let you see and enjoy them in a fun and relaxing way. Skye is a particular standout, but every stop had beautiful scenery, historical sites to explore, and wonderful walking options. The McKinlay Kidd tour handles all the logistical arrangements, while allowing you to travel on your own (without a tour group), which was perfect for us.

McKinlay Kidd provided flawless travel arrangements and wonderful accommodations, efficient and attentive customer support, and an excellent app with tour information (including recommendations, maps and weather). It's clear McKinlay Kidd partners closely with the hotels, which was evident in the quality of accommodations and food along the way, as well as the coordinated support when we needed minor adjustments to the travel plan. A very well organised holiday along the scenic West Highland Line of appropriate length. All accommodation and day trips were of high quality. The whole experience was beyond my expectations. I have no hesitation in considering this company for another holiday and will recommend them to others.

A company who takes care in ensuring their customers are well-looked after. I was in contact with the same travel advisor throughout the whole process. This was a self-guided tour and all of the information that was provided were detailed but very clear. Being an overseas client, this experience has given me the confidence to use McKinlay Kidd again in the future and I have no hesitation in recommending them to others.

A trip from Barra in the south, northwards through the Outer Hebrides via Uist, Harris and Lewis. We stayed two nights in four different locations (three B&B, one hotel) and used a hire car to see as much as possible. Amazing beaches, scenery, machair and we can see why it is a paradise for artists and photographers. Loved the remoteness and slower, more appreciative pace of life. Would happily return.

McKinley Kidd : excellent choice of itinerary which we left to them as the area was completely unknown to us. Very efficient booking of accommodation and ferries and everything worked like clockwork. They provided us with additional maps, local recommendations and an app that allowed us to get updated local weather. Talking to the B&B owners where we stayed, they liked working with MKK and appreciated the fact that the company regularly came and inspected the properties.

Really good, interesting holiday. Useful as a Scotland “taster” with short stays in a number of places. We know where we’d like to return for a longer stay

The tour design and organization was perfect in every way. The scenery, lodgings. food were all great. And we met so many friendly and helpful people. Travelling by train and being picked by taxi at all destinations made everything very relaxing.
