A well organised Scottish train tour
This holiday exceeded my expectations. Booking was straightforward, documentation clear, schedule worked without a hitch, accommodation was excellent and it didn't rain. I couldn't have asked for more.

The first time I have used a tour operator. I usually sort things out for myself. Now I can see how much easier it is to get someone else to do the work! I would never have found these hotels for myself.

Our train trip started in Glasgow in an extremely comfortable boutique hotel. We then caught trains and ferries from Glasgow to Edinburgh from Edinburgh to Aberdeen and the Shetland Islands and ending in Manchester. During this wonderful experience we rode the Harry Potter train, visited Skye, Orchney Islands, Balmoral Castle the Comedy Festival in Edinburgh and more highlights to numerous to mention. During this journey McKinnlay Kidd accommodated us in Manor Houses and boutique hotels who were always very attentive to our needs. They supplied top class tour guides and transfers from trains to accommodation. These were always on time and could not do enough to make our experience welcoming. We found travelling by train to be very relaxing and gave us an insight into Scotland that we had not enjoyed before as we have travelled by road on previous trips. The highlights of this extensive trip gave us a better understanding of the Scottish people as we travelled with them on country and commuter trains and communed with them in small country villages as well as the larger cities of course. Having done this trip this way we now have list of places that we would like to return to and of course the many photos and memories. Thank you McKinnley Kidd - John and Diane

As we are retired and travel extensively each year and quite often do our own research and bookings, we found Tom Hamilton of McKinnley Kidd to be one of the best and most attentive consultants we have come across. Our emails, phone calls and questions were always attended to promptly with insight to our particular needs and requests.

They were fantastic. We wanted to do a personalized tour but were concerned about driving. This was the perfect way to see Ireland and still do the things we wanted to do. The tour guides were all excellent and the accommodations were top notch. Recommend highly!

Shetland and Fair Isle experience
Fantastic holiday full of wonderful scenery and friendly people. Excellent food served in our hotels and the accommodation was extremely comfortable. In Fair Isle we were made to feel very welcome and thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Excellent service from start to finish. McKinlay Kidd helped us plan and execute a holiday to remember.

Excellent arrangements by McKinley Kidd meant we didn't have to worry about details and could relax and enjoy the beautiful west coast of Scotland.
We enjoyed reaxing, scenic train journeys, including a trip on the Jacobite steam train. 3 nights in two well-chosen hotels were arranged as part of the trip.

McKinley Kidd were extremely helpful before our trip - we were delighted with our 'holiday information' packs - they even included 'real' paper maps! There was also a very useful (and easy to use)app.

Delightful 3 night stay at the Old Pines. Journey on the Jacobite to Mallaig fabulous. Great seats on the train, brilliant sunny weather. the most beautiful scenery.

McKinlay Kidd Most helpful friendly staff, Professional & knowledgable . Hope to use again

unusual and great
Our first night was in Fort William, with a view of Ben Nevis out the hotel window and haggis in the mash at supper. Then we took the Jacobite stream train, seeing dozens of trainspotters as we crossed the famous gully from the Harry Potter movies. People on Skye extremely friendly and trip was very well organized.

McKInlay Kidd. Would travel with them again in a heartbeat -- and I've always avoided organized tours.
