Hebridean delight
A trip from Barra in the south, northwards through the Outer Hebrides via Uist, Harris and Lewis. We stayed two nights in four different locations (three B&B, one hotel) and used a hire car to see as much as possible. Amazing beaches, scenery, machair and we can see why it is a paradise for artists and photographers. Loved the remoteness and slower, more appreciative pace of life. Would happily return.

Rating for tour operator:McKinley Kidd : excellent choice of itinerary which we left to them as the area was completely unknown to us. Very efficient booking of accommodation and ferries and everything worked like clockwork. They provided us with additional maps, local recommendations and an app that allowed us to get updated local weather. Talking to the B&B owners where we stayed, they liked working with MKK and appreciated the fact that the company regularly came and inspected the properties.
Rail tour from Glasgow to Edinburgh
Really good, interesting holiday. Useful as a Scotland “taster” with short stays in a number of places. We know where we’d like to return for a longer stay

Rating for tour operator:Made good choices for us and was very responsive
Exceeding our expectations in every way
The tour design and organization was perfect in every way. The scenery, lodgings. food were all great. And we met so many friendly and helpful people. Travelling by train and being picked by taxi at all destinations made everything very relaxing.

Outer Hebrides Hopscotch Holiday
Our time in the Outer Hebrides was a well-organized overview of these lovely, unspoiled islands. The days spent there gave us a wonderful taste of these remote, yet very friendly and welcoming places, with each island being unique in having its own distinct scenery. It was an unforgettable vacation, one we had dreamed about for a long time.

Rating for tour operator:McKinlay Kidd did a fine job creating a short tour of the Outer Hebrides which enabled us to see the islands in a brief time, yet still with the feel of a leisurely vacation. Their careful organization was the key. Included in our tour were many hints and recommendations which allowed us to find the most interesting, scenic and tasty stops as we went along, thereby saving time we might have had to spend in looking for places we would enjoy.
Personalised.
As I don't like being with a bus load of 40 plus tourists, I found the train tour suited our needs. The train stops were at a place of interest, the accommodation was 4 star, the hosts were welcoming, the food was great and the guides we had on day tours were very knowledgeable about their area.

Rating for tour operator:Chris, our tour organiser, was very accommodating in organising our tour to suit the dates and time we requested to fit in with our other travel arrangements even though it meant rearranging the set itinerary. He kept us informed regularly.
Northumberland adventure
Our first time in Northumberland and what a lot to see and do and what scenery. A trip to the Farne Islands and Hadrians wall are a most but it also has some of the best castles in England to see. Holy Island is a great place to experience and the trip over the causeway is interesting.

Well Organized/Fun/Memorable
This is our third experience with McKinlay Kidd. Our first was a self-drive tour of the Orkney and Sheltand Islands. Our second was the "James Bond Weekend." Our third was the "Grand Tour of Ireland by Train." Everything was handled professionally. Never a hitch. Train tickets, being held at station kiosks, were easily accessible. Stops along way (Westport-Galway,-Ennis-Killarney-Kinsale-Belfast were all first rate. Hotel operators and drivers ...

Rating for tour operator:We have been travelling the world for over 45 years and McKinlay Kidd is without doubt the best travel agent we have ever dealt with. Their intimate knowledge of the area they cover is without peer. We were very impressed that they actually visit the area covered, inspect the accomodation, speak with the providers and tour operators. With their attention to detail, clear instructions and the Vamoos App and knowing they are with you 24/7 it is impossible to go wrong even for two 80 year old Australian GreyNomads.
Amazing Classic Car holiday
I surprised my husband with this trip driving a Mark 2 Jaguar around the north west of Scotland over three days. It was a fantastic experience. The scenery and roads were amazing. the accommodation was top class, we stayed at the Acray lodge which was charming with great views and the Pierhouse in Port Appin was a little piece of heaven,

Lakes And York Districts Getaway
A self guided tour of the Lakes and Yorkshire districts plus York over several days. The holiday included car hire and special excursions such as the Ulswater Steamer and a steam train journey. There was time to explore the areas surrounding the excellent accommodation. Dinners were pre-booked for us on days that we were travelling to new accommodation.

Rating for tour operator:McKinlay Kidd booked excellent accommodation for us and took into account the needs of our small group. They arranged for a package that included maps and ideas for exploring the different areas that we visited. Daniela was always friendly and helpful. We greatly appreciated the phone call when we had left an item at one of the accommodations.
