An amazing experience combining archaeology, wild-life and more modern history. Comfortable friendly accommodation and tasty local food.

Friendly telephone interactions, informative emails and efficient arrangements. When a boat trip needed to be rescheduled because of changed weather conditions, we were informed by a phone message to my mobile as well as a phone call to our hotel to ensure we had received the news.

West Highland and Isle of Skye Tour

Our tour was a wonderful seamless adventure from train to transfer to ferry to hotel to tour itself. We recommend them without any reservations.

See above. Everything was meticulously prepared in advance, and the one slight blip of a half hour late on the transfer they prepared us for in advance. Always felt we were in the best hands at each stage of the tour, and the overall preparation was most impressive, including the app, website, and personal touches.

Outstanding

We loved our journey. The selection of lodging and activities was perfect for our needs. Advance planning and customer service during the trip were top notch. Every hotel/B&B provided beautiful accommodations, delicious breakfasts, and good locations. Our train travel worked out smoothly.

Great holiday in Scotland

My family went on a short holiday to Scotland. We visited Spean Bridge, Isle of Skye, and Edinburgh. McKinlay Kidd did a wonderful job planning our trip to Spean Bridge, from Fort William to Mallaig on the Jacobite Steam train, and our visit to Isle of Skye. We had a great experience.

McKinlay Kidd provided exceptional, personalised service. The accommodations were wonderful. They were also very responsive and helpful when our flight to the UK was delayed and we missed our first scheduled train.

A memorable self-drive journey through the Outer Hebrides

We had an active, yet relaxing, 6 days touring the chain of islands that make up the Outer Hebrides followed by 2 days on Tiree. Each island was different but on all of them we experienced warm welcomes, stunning scenery, high quality food and excellent accommodation. We were very lucky that our holiday coincided with dry weather and some sunshine so I feel we saw the islands at their best. Although we stayed on just 4 islands, the itinerary ...

Each island was different but on all of them we experienced warm welcomes, stunning scenery, high quality food and excellent accommodation. We were very lucky that our holiday coincided with dry weather and some sunshine so I feel we saw the islands at their best. Although we stayed on just 4 islands, the itinerary enabled us to visit 11 in all so we felt we saw a lot in the time available.

Rating for tour operator:

McKinlay Kidd were very good from start to finish in helping us plan our holiday and were willing to be flexible in adjusting the itinerary to suit us. The information pack they supplied was very comprehensive and we were given lots of suggestions as to places to visit and where to eat. With only limited time on each island this meant that we did not waste time having to find out things for ourselves. All the ferry crossings and route instructions worked well and the accommodations were as described. From leaving Ullapool to arriving back at Oban we felt confident that everything had been well-organised. We would not hesitate to recommend McKinlay Kidd or use them again for a future holiday.

Fascinating and very well planned visit to Orkney and Shetland

Before Rome, before Athens, before the Pyramids and before Stonehenge there was Orkney! McKinley Kidd enabled us to see some of the world's oldest sites in Orkney and enjoy one of the best possible wildlife cruises in Shetland. Travel, accommodation, cuisine were all excellent. Highly recommended tour operator.

Just a short break - with 5 days on the island. After the hire car pickup, we drove to the north part of the island to stay in a great hotel in an old manor house. It was a great base for us to go on some beautiful day long walks (which we read about in some literature our tour operator left for us), and then come home to some great food and a pretty impressive whisky selection. It was a great base for us to go on some beautiful day long walks (which we read about in some literature our tour operator left for us), and then come home to some great food and a pretty impressive whisky selection. Then after 3 days, we drove down to the southern end of the island to a nice hotel over a pub - with more great food. All in all we had a fabulous time - saw ponies, puffins, and more sheep than you can imagine!!

Rating for tour operator:

Helpful with local knowledge when we were inquiring, and everything they booked for us was perfect for our trip.
