Wonderful train trip around Scotland! Starting in Edinburgh, on to Pitlochry, (our favorite town), then on to Inverness, Skye, Spean Bridge, ending in Glasgow. Nice guest houses and accomodations at every stop. Fabulous food everywhere! and no midges anywhere!! Weather was perfect!

Orkney, the Fair Isle and Shetland.

Archaeology, bird-watching and knitting in a series of beautiful settings. The accommodation, food were of a very high standard. Travel was easy and the people that we encountered were a delight.

Wonderful tour of the north of Scotland and Orkney islands (The North 500).

My wife and I have long since wanted to visit the far north of Scotland and to drive the North 500 route. The route has become very popular with overseas visitors and finding good accommodation can be difficult. We decided to use McKinley Kidd and they arranged it all (incl ferries). They also provided an excellent guide to what we should see along the way. Their hotel/B&B choices were first class, and this made for a thoroughly enjoyable holiday...

They also provided an excellent guide to what we should see along the way. Their hotel/B&B choices were first class, and this made for a thoroughly enjoyable holiday. At our various stops along the route we met others who had booked using McKinley Kidd and they, like us, were all delighted with the quality of service they had received.

Mcinley Kidd were happy to tailor our trip to meet our requirements. They supplied a comprehensive travel package, maps and local information which were all very useful. We are very pleased we used them and would happily do so again.

One of the most amazing holidays ever

Fantastic scenery, some of the best in the world. Great locations, wonderful friendly places to stay and the fish was to die for.

Shetland - Another World

A week in Shetland, much better weather than expected, very little rain on just one day, but then we hadn't gone for sun and sangria! The beaches were beautiful, the landscape amazingly varied from north to south. Great food, lovely people and delicious gin!

Helpful, knowledgeable, everything worked well. The hotels were well chosen and all had good food. The vamoos app that they provided was very useful and as a tech dinosaur, easy to use!

Wonderful

Absolutely amazing, so much to see and do and all organised to perfection by McKinley Kidd. Orkney and Shetland may not be high on everyone's holiday list, but they both have that 'WOW' factor and anyone missing out on a visit are losing a real experience.

Shetland - an amazing adventure

Unfortunately, the Fair Isle leg of our tour did not happen due to bad weather but, despite this disappointment we had a most amazing time and managed to cover most of the Shetland mainland plus the islands of Unst and Yell. Apart from the sights and history of the islands, we saw some amazing wild life in a variety of locations - adult and baby seals, puffins and a whole variety of sea birds and, we even saw an otter feeding in a loch. The people of Shetland were so lovely and friendly and gave us many suggestions about things to see during our stay. Also, our accommodation at Glen B & B in Hamnavoe and the Busta Hotel in Bray, was truly excellent and contributed to our overall enjoyment of the holiday experience. Truly, an amazing adventure!

Rating for tour operator:

McKinlay Kidd were 5-star right from the start, responding quickly to our enquiry and, organising our tour in a very professional and well documented manner. Nothing was too much trouble and, all our queries and problems were dealt with very efficiently. We were initially booked in to stay at the Bird Observatory on Fair Isle and, when the terrible fire occurred there, MKK managed to arrange alternative accommodation for us on Fair Isle. Then, when the Fair Isle leg of the trip had to be cancelled due to bad weather, they very quickly arranged alternative accommodation for us on Shetland, which allowed our holiday to continue in the best possible way. We would have no hesitation in using MKK again and, we have already recommended them to friends who are considering similar holidays in the future. Thank you McKinlay Kidd for a wonderful adventure!

Brilliant Holiday

We travelled to the Orkney and Shetland Islands, by way of Inverness and Thurso, hiring cars on the Islands so we could explore. We then flew back to Edinburgh.

They helped us plan a customised itinerary, arranging car hire, transport and accommodation. Accommodation was all of a high standard. the transport arrangements went well, there was one problem where a hire car didn't turn up for us - we phoned the tour operator who quickly resolved the problem.
