A usual pilgrimage holiday in The Holy Land

All aspects of the holiday were well taken care of.

A packed itinerary but then we had paid a lot and come a long way so we wanted to see it all. It was extraordinarily hot even by Middle East standards and we had a dust storm for several days so could not see far but we were undeterred! The holy sites were worth seeing and the guide did an excellent job of placing them in a historical and biblical context. An unexpected bonus for me was experiencing at first hand the harshness of the desert landscape and the reality of the day to day Arab/Israeli conflict. Travel arrangements, hotels, meals were so straightforward I was really impressed. It left us free to see what we had come to see without worrying about any of the organisation which was all done for us.

This company has obviously got pilgrimage trips to Israel and Palestine down to a fine art. They choose excellent hotels, super drivers and very knowledgeable guides. This holiday far exceeded my expectations and I would like to go on another tour with the same company.

We spent two days sight-seeing in Vienna and then followed the Way of St James through Austria with five well-thought-out walks of about 5 km through countryside that varied from heavily wooded to open farmland and riverside, with pleasant views at all times. The pilgrimage started in the Jakobskirche in Heiligenstadt and finished at the church of Maria Locherboden in Tyrol, with stops for prayer or more extended worship each day.

McCabe Pilgrimages are always willing and able to please, and to meet any reasonable request for the improvement of their tours.
