I absolutely loved every moment of the Pilgrimage s the Northern Saints. Right from the start it seemed that nothing was too much trouble and the staff were very helpful and gracious. The holiday was packed with lots of interesting things to do, and see. Every day was different, and it was good to have so many challenging experiences. I especially enjoyed the trip to Lindisfarne and the opportunity to walk across the Causeway, and the icing on the cake was the boat trip to the Farne Islands, I really appreciate all the hard work that went into planning this holiday, and the way in which each of the guides, Rachel, Kevin and and John made it such a memorable experience.

McCabes have proven once again to be a great group to organise breaks such as these. Their staff are courteous and helpful and are extremely professional in all the details and organising

It was an interesting programme which was executed with the usual McCabe efficiency.

McCabes have been organising pilgrimages and holidays for many years to a very high standard. They are a reliable company in which my wife and I have the utmost confidence.

Based at the heart of Durham's World Heritage site, the holiday combined learning about and visiting sites associated with those responsible for bringing Christianity to the north-east of England, especially Aidan, Cuthbert, Hilda and Bede. Included were excellent guided tours of Durham Cathedral and Hexham Abbey and a memorable walk following the pilgrim route across the sands to Lindisfarne.

I had already enjoyed three tours with McCabe Pilgrimages to Turkey and Greece, so was confident this short break would be good; and I was not disappointed.

A time to discover just how much the past has influence the church of today. Good company, and helpful information as we walked in the footsteps of the northern saints.

We toured the north-east from our base in a college in Durham, learning about the history of the early church, and saints, with a walk along part of Hadrian's Wall and across the mud flats to Holy Island. Magnificent, both of them.

McCabe Pilgrimages researches its programme meticulously and includes a wide variety in its tours.

It was great and in the footprints of the Northern Saints as advertised. A well organised holiday and with lots of different experiences,eg a steam train ride, a boat trip to the Farne Islands and just about the right amount of free time

Everything was well organised and detailed from booking through the holiday and the final departures, with a place to leave luggage if not leaving Durham till later in the day

A good humoured group of sociable and varied people from all parts of Britain with a common interest in the origins of Christianity in the North. The tour was well filled with visits to Durham Cathedral, Hadrian's Wall, Whitby, Holy Island and the Farne Islands. Two long walks meant we didn't have a chance to stiffen up. All in the space of four days! The only comment I could make is: I wish we had a little time to ourselves!

Everything was well organised, so we didn't have to think about food or stopping on the pre-booked comfortable coaches. The drivers were good, too. A rep from the office came as well as the two leaders of the group to look after us.

"In the steps of the Northern Saints" was a combination of a pilgrimage and a holiday. We visited several interesting places on the trip and saw some wonderful scenery.

McCabes are an excellent company. I have been on several pilgrimages with them and they are always first class.

My wife & I had a most enjoyable time in Durham/ Northumberland friendly staff and good accomdation. Coach Driver was excellant and friendly, The Pilgramage walk across to the Holy Island was poorly timed, and put our lives at risk , not at all pleased with this organisation from McCabe..

Shame that one bad experience spoilt our holiday and brought McCabes markings down.

An excellent short trip to a variety of historic sites with an emphasis on the ancient saints and prominent religious areas as well as a visit to the Farne Islands and Hadrian's Wall. We travelled in excellent coaches and had just the right amount of commentary on where we were, what we were to see etc from knowledgeable speakers.

McCabe Pilgrimages - I have been with them before but this was the first time in the British Isles.
