Rich and inspiring

This was a one-day event at the National gallery, consisting of 4 lectures on Italian Renaissance painting, given by Dr Michael Douglas-Scott. From an academic and lively presentation, I learned a lot about the subject, so that I feel inspired to learn more.

Florence: Cradle of the Renaissance

Our holiday began on the day we arrived with a visit to the Capella Gozzoli in Palazzo Medici-Ricardi for the Magi frescoes by Benozzo Gozzoli. Our holiday began on the day we arrived with a visit to the Capella Gozzoli in Palazzo Medici-Ricardi for the Magi frescoes by Benozzo Gozzoli. We then had 6 full days of visits to selected places in Florence which included the familiar like the Uffizi Gallery to the less familiar San Miniato al Monte. The Museo dell'Opera del Duomo, another of our visits, houses originals of sculptures and reliefs from the Baptistry and the Campanile. We were guided throughout by an expert lecturer all expertly organised by a tour manager. We stayed in the Santa Maria Novella hotel. Our room was very comfortable and efficiently air conditioned, the staff on reception and at breakfast were friendly and helpful. We travelled from City Airport to Florence and then transferred to our hotel in the centre of Florence by coach. The holiday included four dinners and one lunch. The tour manager selected restaurants for our independent meals which we could join or not. All the restaurant choices were good. Taxis were organised when necessary. Our group was small, less than 20 people which was perfect for couples or single people. We spent 6 nights in Florence.

The tour was managed by Martin Randall Travel. Our experience is that Martin Randall groups are smaller. The group is accompanied by a tour manager and lecturer. The tour manager always speaks the language of the country visited, the lecturer has specialist knowledge of the subject of the tour, whether is is gardens, architecture or art. This is our fourth Martin Randall tour to Italy or France. We have also experienced London Days. We would recommend Martin Randall Travel.

A pamp;ering weekend of first class music and very comfortable accommodation, meals etc.

An excellent antidote to the grey post Christmas days. MRT organise their tours meticulously and the hotel chosen for the venue (~Castle, Taunton) is a well run privately owned comfortable place to stay.

All tours are very well planned and contingency for any difficulties thought out in advance. As on previous occasions - we cannot fault them. It is also impressive that Martin kRandall himself was present for the weekend and every present to engage with the 'clients' The mood of the weekend is always a sociable one.

Opera in Stockholm

An excellent few days in Stockholm, despite the snow. A good balance of music sightseeing and museums. First class hotel and food. All well organised by the tour manager and music expert.

We have been on several Martin Randall holidays in the last few years and all have lived up to our expectations. These have not all been music based but have included walking/gastronomy and architecture. They are not cheap but we believe that you get what we pay for.

Time to explore parts of three different cities, Jodhpur, Jaipur, and Ahmedabad, and the opportunity to see public and private collections also in Delhi, Surat, and Mumbai, made this a rich and delightful experience. The sheer profusion of everything--people, languages, imagery--made a brief tour feel like a longer involvement with the complex cultures of this small segment of North West India. Altogether, a wonderful trip.

Eating our way through history in Kerala

A fascinating exploration of the flow of many nationalities through Kerala over the ages and the marks that their presence has left behind on one of india's finest local cuisines. This was our sixth tour with Martin Randall. They consistently send us home with a new view of countries of which we have previously known little. They have a knack of finding special corners or events which make the a privilege to be a participant, even if only a fleeting spectator.
