Spanish holiday

A small group lead by an exceptionally knowledgeable and informed lecturer who provided a wealth of knowledge and information and who ensured that we were all getting the most out of the tour

Rating for tour operator:

Everything was very well organised, it was very informative with a lot of variety and nothing was too much trouble for the lecturer or the guide

Everthing we expected and more

Albania - it was all new to us. As expected - archaeology, history, geography with an exert lecturer / guide just like previous Martin Randall tours to new places, and at the same high standard. We enjoy interacting with interesting like-minded people, we value special access to restricted sites, we enjoy the conviviality and hospitality of dining arrangements, the wine always flows freely. All in all it was a great holiday and a good deal.

The annual calendar of tours offers a huge range. In any year it is difficult to decide where - there is so much on offer. We wish we had more ti me to do more - the tours are so imaginative. the tour itself is double headed - a manager and a lecturer. In our experience they are well chosen and capable. There is plenty of pr-etour information and reading if you are up for it. They are helpful in accomadating personal needs.

Excellent for Historians

Wonderful to be with like minded guests. Also especially pleasant to have such a small group. Prof Marc Morris was the only person who could lead such an interesting tour. His book Castle should be recommended.

So Many Kinds of Pleasure

"The Imperial Riviera", based inTrieste but including visits to Croatia and Slovenia, Informed me about so many things I hadn't known before: the nature of the Austro-Hungarian Enpire, the importance of this coastline to the two world wars in the last century, and the range of architecture that survives. We also saw beautiful scenery and enjoyed some superb meals. Since returning I have been inspired to read two long novels that were listed ...

We also saw beautiful scenery and enjoyed some superb meals. Since returning I have been inspired to read two long novels that were listed in the course information, The Confessions of Zeno and The Man Wihout Qualities, and I've been telling everyone that they should visit Trieste.

Rating for tour operator:

Both the lecturer and the tour manager were first-class: we got lots of information, delivered clearly and accessibly, and the inevitable problrms that arose (illness of one tour member, awful weather at a crucial point) were dealt with efficiently and without fuss.

Thoroughly enjoyable tour of Mediaeval and Roman Provence

We stayed in the excellent Hotel d'Europe in Avignon, and travelled to interesting sites by comfortable coach. The tour manager was proactive and helpful, and we had a very informative and approchable expert guide. Goup meals were in well-chosen restaurants. The only major location omitted was Nimes, but it didn't worry me as I'd spent time there recently.

Martin Randall tours values quality over economy, and proided excellent guide and tour manager. We used Tailor Made Rail to get us to and from the tour, and rate them highly as well.

Perfect mix of walking, art, good food and good company.

A walking holiday in Umbria - most walks about 3 miles long which we thought beforehand was a bit short but in practice the length was perfect when combined with excellent lunches and visits to beautiful art works. Hotels were excellent and the itinerary was well paced. Unfortunately a couple of days were marred by rain but that can’t be helped. The tour manager had some plan Bs ready but in the end we pretty much completed the planned routes.

Rating for tour operator:

This was our first Martin Randall holiday and definitely not our last. Organisation was excellent with an excellent expert guide, an indefatigable tour manager and a very good walk leader. The included meals were excellent and the quite complicated logistics were handled seamlessly. Worth every penny.
