A weekend break listening to and learning about excellent music played by one of our leading quartets (Elias Quartet playing a programme of mainly Beethoven) accompanied by informed and engaging pre-concert talks. All taking place in the striking venue of The Castle Hotel at Taunton, which looked the part even in November in England. All the staff were the ideal combination of efficient, informed, friendly and unobstrusive and the pacing of events allowed for relaxation between concerts which enabled full enjoyment of some remarkable music-making.

MRT is reliably excellent. One is always dealing with intelligent and interested as well as interesting people, from those manning the phones to the expert lecturers and performers, and of course the tour organisors/representatives themselves. One gets the impression that they genuinely enjoy the events the help run, which adds to the quality of the occasion. Conversation is easy and intelligent, often ranging over a variety of topics and at a variety of levels.

Private entrance to Venetian palaces with an expert guide! What could be better! Superb itinerary and every type of palazzo described - as was much else, particularly on the history of Venice. Superb!

This residential chamber music weekend with the Carducci Quartet and William Howard giving spirited performances of works by Schubert and Dvořák was sheer delight. The hotel accommodation, service and food were exemplary. We shall return again for similar events in the future.

Tour was faced with hurricanes, volcanoes, unexpectedly closed facilities and still managed to keep the tour full and interesting.

This was an enriching experience that provided a good insight into the historical evolution of Greek, Roman, Norman, Spanish, Arab ... interests, competing (if that's the right word) for the development of Sicily over centuries.

Excellent tour manager who unintrusively kept itinerary fluid, carefully choosing restaurants with fine menus - local dishes and knowledge of local vintages; a fluent English/Italian speaker who, with the tour lecturer, 'opened doors' to additional sites. Excellent tour lecturer with encyclopedic memory and sense of humour.

Pompeii and Herculaneum, plus the many Roman and Greek sites of the Bay of Naples were wonderful, the the overall experience was magical - excellent lecturer and professional tour guide made it all so easy. Hospitality at the 5* hotel and the various restaurants was so welcoming and generous

This was a specialist tour studying the architecture of Andrea Palladio. I have been interested in this for 70 years, and a tour of them is something that would have been difficult to achieve as an independent traveller.

Martin Randall go to a lot of trouble to get things right, but it shows in the very high prices. For a specialist tour like this, they can be justified, but I would never use them for a run-of-the-mill destination. So I could only recommend them to a certain type of traveller.
