Albania May 2022 good food, good mountain views, good historic city sights

Well organised, friendly small group, good UK tour leader and Albanian tour guide giving lots of interesting ancient and modern history, good food, good hotels, coach travel to all corners of Albania (both seaside and snow-capped mountains, a few nights in the mountains, even one swim in the sea), bonus brief visit to Kosovo to clear-day viewpoint at Prizren looking over half the country, interesting slow chartered train ride in Albania (3h ...

well-organised and appreciated being able to discuss travel arrangements by personal email contacts rather than just via anonymous websites

Switzerland in the Snow by Train

We had an excellent rail holiday in Switzerland arranged by Ffestiniog Travel. This was an escorted tour - the tour guide was very good at keeping us 'on track' and provided suggestions for our free days that we may not have otherwise thought of.

Anniversary European Holiday

As part of our Golden Wedding Anniversary earlier this month, my wife and I decided to undertake a month-long European rail holiday to visit places and friends we have known over the past fifty years.

Our experience with Ffestiniog Travel was first class and we cannot recommend it highly enough. We entrusted the organisation of our travel arrangements and hotel accommodation to Ffestioiong Travel and were not disappointed. Our advisor, Michelle Hawes, was outstanding in arranging an Interrail Pass and finding comfortable hotel accommodations near railway stations.

A well organised tour with all needed information to hand

A solo tour of Switzerland using a Eurail pass. Ffestiniog Travel organised the pass, all train seat bookings and supplements and all accommodation in Switzerland. I was given a personalised itinerary with all necessary information, such as seat numbers, departure times and hotel locations in a personalised booklet. It all went very smoothly and I had a very enjoyable time, with very high quality hotel rooms.

Dear Graham and Wendy, I am pleased that we were able to offer you both a satisfactory explanation regarding the issues that arose during your recent holiday. I would like to thank you both for your patience and understanding whilst I investigated this matter. I was really pleased to hear that you have always received excellent service from Ffestiniog Travel in the past and that this recent experience has not deterred you from travelling with us in the future.

Switzerland for Christmas and New Year with Ffestiniog Travel: brilliant holiday

Two weeks exploring Switzerland over Christmas and New Year. Lots of excellent train travel, including the two big items of the Bernina and Glacier expresses. Highlights included the 'Burning of the Cathedral' event at midnight on New Year's Eve in Lausanne. Knowledgable and resourceful tour leader; good company in a group of just 14 of us.

Christmas & New Year in Switzerland

Well organised suitable accommodation, close to transport links - The evening meals wer excellent with a good choice. The arranged excursions were well organised and showed us various parts of the country. Optional ones were supplied by the leader on other days, although you could do your own thing using the pass supplied.

A Great Holiday for Christmas and New Year

Christmas and New Year In Switzerland. A three centred holiday travelling out and return by train with lots to do everyday. Perfect for those who love railways as I do, and a great way of seeing the country and experiencing the cities.

We had a 3 day pass to ride on the Harz mountain railway. and a German rail pass which lasted the whole holiday (used to get us from Brussles to Wernigerode. The tour was escorted but nothing was compulsory. The tour guide was excellent and provided suggested itineraries to travel on as much of the Harz railway as possible. This was a holiday that would suit "normal" people as well as railway enthusiasts! Old picturesque towns to visit and festive Christmas markets in the snow.

Plenty of information provided before we went. Very reassuring to know that in current times any problems due to Covid/Rail Strikes and general global mayhem would be dealt with by experts!
