A real escape
Corsica by rail and ferry

First time we had travelled with them as an alternative to other rail holiday operators. They are a bit more expensive but as a result they offer a bit more. Would be likely to use them again if an opportunity to visit somewhere we hadn't been before within Europe arose.

Beautiful Northern Spain

We have used Ffestiniog Travel on several occasions for both escorted and, as this one was, unescorted and have found everything to be good.

3 week Interrail York to Poland with all trains and some accommodation organised by tour operator
Using Interrail passes and 20 trains we travelled from York to Zakopane for independent walking and to Krakow for independent business. We took 4 days each way when we travelled very comfortably and had time to explore Kings Cross hinterland, Koeln, Prague, Brno, Goerlitz, Leipzig and Boppard. All to save aeroplane emissions and perfectly manageable in our 70's.

Independent operator we have used for European rail travel and accommodation arrangements a few times over 15 years. Always very efficient, knowledgeable and helpful.

Lindau and Lake Constance
We travelled by train from London for 6 nights in a town beside Lake Constance. We had interesting excursions by train on 4 days. Inevitably train travel can have various hiccups. Our tour leader, Geoff, was very good and dealt with the various issues effectively and with good humour.

This was the first time Ffestiniog Travel had run this trip. Good overall but perhaps some of the excursions could have been better researched and run differently.

Abundant Birdlife with Trains
My husband loves trains & I love birds so this combination was perfect for us. The Danube Delta did not disappoint, floating under willows, between reed beds & water lilies was such a peaceful experience. We saw over 50 different bird species including hundreds of swans, pelicans, more kingfishers than I've ever seen - a truly magical place. I loved Lepsa too with it's special hotel, Casa Tisaru. We've used Ffestiniog Travel before & have already booked to go with them again in February. They have become one of our 'go to' travel companies. One thing that sets them apart from other travel companies is to allow us to have independent meals (where possible), rather than having to dine as a group every day.

Delivered as promised.
A mixture of wildlife & rail travel in Romania. Small & charming hotels. Good included food. Safe travel between locations.

Ffestiniog Travel are very well experienced in holidays including rail & it shows. Work well with locla operators to complete a well designed trip.

A great experience
Romania was an interesting country to visit. Varied scenery. Danube Delta a very special and protected area for wildlife, especially birds. Romania is unspoilt by mass tourism and offers a glimpse of a more pastoral way of life that is difficult to find in Europe.

Interesting but exhausting with many early starts
Rail travel from Bergen to Oslo and then to Narvik, then down on the Inlandsbanan and then onto Stockholm. Marvellous rail travel but, as there are so few trains, it necessitated early starts. Superb scenery but little wildlife.
